Hello from Zanesville

Uncasville, CT(Zone 6a)

What a great poem! Thank you so much! :o)

I'll probably be in absentia for a day or so...deadlines looming and I have about five gallons to stuff into a 1 gallon can!

Stay warm and happy,

Toni

Yep, this Garden is addictive! I just became a member a year ago and the link Seandor posted above reminded me of this post I made shortly after joining DG. I guess we are all in the same boat, or rather Garden!

Ayrshire Scotland, United Kingdom

Hi Toni, WeeNel in Scotland, lives on the West Coast, on the edge of a very small town about 10 miles from Greenock or 20 miles from Rabbie Burns birth place called Ayr. All of Argile is beautiful and there are some wonderful gardens open to the public. I live right by the sea and have wonderful view over the surrounding Islands, so you were not far away, the folks hear are all very friendly, especially to our USA cousins, Best wishes for the festive season, hope 2008 is good to you and yours. WeeNel.

(Zone 1)

WeeNel: Ooooh, Scotland? I can just "hear" your voice and that lovely Scottish accent!

I hope someday to not be such a chicken about flying over the ocean, so I can visit Scotland and Ireland! My dear Mom always wanted to visit Ireland where her grandparents were from.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I hear that accent too!!

Same here for flying. I hate flying but at the same time want to see Scotland and Ireland.

(Zone 1)

Oh, I love to fly, I've just never been on a plane longer than 2 hours. That's about my limit -then I want to be back on the ground for awhile. My husband has been a professor at an Aeronautical University for 32 years and I'm around airplane people all the time, we have friends who are pilots. People tell me to take a pill, or just go to sleep for a long flight - uh, uh .... I just can't do it. I always said someday when I could afford to fly on the Concord I would go to Europe ... then they retired the SST!

Welcome to DG's from Virginia. I enjoyed your article and like your writing style. Glad to have you aboard.

Hey, Toni - I'm a little late welcoming you, but I just saw this thread. Our digs are just a hop, skip and a jump from Zanesville. It's great to see another local joining up!

Hi Gardenwife,

I'm actually in Nashport, only 14 mins from the downtown exit for Newark. I go there all the time, as I'm part of the Licking County Arts organization. And there's no shopping in Nashport! LOL

Thanks, hope to meet you one of these days.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Toni, This sounds like divine intervention. You are meant to be here :)

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

hello Toni,
welcome!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I don't live far from the gallery; I pass it almost every time I am out. The funny thing is, I've never been to it! :)

Uncasville, CT(Zone 6a)

Gardenwife, you really must go! It's a wonderful set-up, and the gift shop has really neat stuff from local artists. The show currently hanging is "Soul of the Season". Check it out--I have some photography there.

No surprise that we have another multi-talented DGer. What a treat.

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

Toni... did you ever feel like the Universe just picked you up and said..."HERE!". BTW, Dave is looking for contributing writers...

A belated welcome Toni; as others have said, this place is addicting. The good friends and good information I have acquired from all corners of the globe is a blessing and I don't think you will find this unique camaraderie on other plant sites.

This thread has me thinking however; is DG represented at the American Garden Writers Association meetings? If not, we should have booth there.

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

Toni, warmly welcome.
I am from China, and I am a DGer for (oh, let me count my fingers) almost seven years.
DG is a unique place for gardeners to gather together. Very soon you will find you are like a pony being lost in the clovers.

Jianjua, what a lovely analogy. The chrysanthemum is beautiful.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Hi, Jianhua - good to see you, friend! I liked that analogy, too; I can see that pony wondering which sweet bite to take next, for they're all so good.

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

I picked the idiom up in a book, but I have gotten no idea if it is still in fashion or not, hehehe
DG is increasingly becoming larger, and it has been a worldwide community for gardeners. Personally, I like to head in regularly to nibble a few fresh leaves here and there as a rabbit (I was born in the Year of Rabbit).
Thanks for sharing.

Well, I love the crysanthemum, I have never seen of heard of a grafted mum. More pictures please.

Hi Toni!
PLEASE forgive me - I read the article and noticed DG not there and just sent another one of those annoying emails to your paper!! I'm looking forward to reading many more of your great articles!

Welcome!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Toni - thanks for the mention of Dave's Garden!

Just barely!!! Grrr!

The paper must have a new person doing the web news, because the original article in the printed paper has the whole paragraph I wrote about DG, including data on plant files, bug files, forums, and how great the site is and everyone should go look, etc.

Also, they dropped a few words from the sentence about buying books. I give up.

Thanks for letting me know you saw it.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

We can see you tried. Thanks for the effort.

Scottsburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Toni - never give up! I live with an editor - they can't help themselves, it's in their DNA (driving along the highway is sometimes painful - I had no idea there were so many typos on billboards).

Just read the article - great information, and I love your writing voice, just like you're sitting next to me with a cuppa!

here's a something from my garden (moved into it last year, and they left no ID of the plants behind so that's on my to-do list) as a small token of penitence for my email to your paper on the 9th.

dryad - put the photo on the daylily forum requesting an I.D. Maybe one of us will have the answer.

Scottsburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Thank you pirl - you'd think by now I'd realize that I have this great resource, but I still doggedly try to look for the answers myself. "If I only had a brain........"

Necedah, WI(Zone 4b)

Thanks Toni for trying!! :D We do appreciate it.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

That's a good article, Toni.
Your experience so far has led me to look at MY local newsprints and to see where I can interject Dave's Garden.
