Critter, I didn't catch it either. I was just typing away about her pretty the color of the bloom is (LOL)
Happy Holidays AV BINGO let the game begin!
LOL. I saw it but didn't even realize it wasn't the Bingo thread!
I'm going to check out those recipe's!
hmmm .... just came across this thread and I had no idea that some forums had very pretty headers. I figured it was the same on all forums - like the pumpkins at the top of this thread! Maybe we need our very own "special" header for the AV/Gessie Forum?
What thread? I know that the banner at the top changes from time to time, but I hadn't realized it wasn't the same for all forums... maybe I'm just not paying attention?
Here's a cute bloom to brighten up a grey day... at least it's gloomy here... anybody have sunshine to report?
28. Candy Cane
Candy Cane (Eyerdom) Single dark maroon/white ruffled edge. Standard

LOVE IT!!!! Love peppermint candy canes! LOL I actually like all the flavors, especially the orange ones!
Ugh. That doesn't look fluffy and nice. That looks cold and wet and icy. Brrrrr!
OH NO....I do not love that cold wet stuff...I was talking about the AV..LOL I cannot stand to be cold AND wet!!!!
hehehe----DH is happy, he got the day off work, there was no way the car was going anywhere in that!!! Not to mention we probably couldn't have got out of the driveway...
Wow! Look at all that White "Stuff"! I wanna build a Snowman!! I haven't played in snow or built a snowman since I was about 12 years old! I sure wouldn't want to drive in it though!
Crittter: Apparently some of the forums have real pretty headers! The Rose forum has a pretty header of roses:
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/roses/all/
The Day Lily forum has a header of pretty day lilies: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/hemhead/all/
Brugsmansia's: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/brugsetc/all/
Dahlia's: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/dahlias/all/
Hosta's: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/hostas/all/
I didn't know about this until reading that post I linked to above! These are just a few I found when randomly checking some of the other forums! I think we should all get together and discuss a pretty AV photo for the top of "Our" forum and see if Admin would change it. Nothing against the pumpkins or other generic seasonal headers but I think it would be nice to have a "special" one for the AV forum too!
Hi All,
I got that one also... He is the one posted on the other web page the same as one posted this morning? Thanks and keep them coming...
Hugs,
Susan
Yes, sorry Susan -- I wasn't trying to be tricksy, I was just half asleep! All the calls made have been posted on this thread. I didn't mean to post that one elsewhere. LOL
I got to checking this thread to make sure I didn't have any more "moments" like that and realized that the photo of 'Holiday Lights' hadn't posted... and nobody had complained! It's such a pretty bloom. I have to try again to show you the photo from First Class! :-)
So, this isn't a new call. It's another try to show you the photo for 'Holiday Lights', courtesy of the Violet Gallery. See why I didn't want you to miss this blooming beauty?
We've had 13 calls so far... Is anybody getting close yet? ;-)
I've got 7-----is that close?
I love the pictures with every call, nice touch.
i have 6 so far so good. lol
mrsbonnie
BINGO!
:) I couldn't resist .... Every day I've expected Janet to be hollering Bingo and since she hasn't I just thought I would! LOL.
i also have seven--don't know if that is good or not---but its been fun!
This is the closest I have ever gotten... Keep them coming..LOL
Hugs,
Susan
I just looked at everyone's cards and y'all are doing really well! Most hanging right together with near the same number! As usual, I think it's going to be right down to the wire and everyone will be sitting at their keyboards, fingers perched, waiting for those last couple of calls!
Yep, I'm at 7 also!
Thanks for posting the Holiday Lights pic- I really like that one!
We had sunshine today!!! Nice after an extra cold night. But tomorrow will be almost 80-WOOHOO!!! I'll take that in Dec any time I can get it! Our normals for now are 50's so you see why I'm excited.
I only counted ten at the top...lol so have we had fourteen called now? I am confused...I must be confused because LIN already BINGOED without me!
LOL
Yeah, well, I never promised the post at the top would be totally up to date! LOL
(It's got 14 now.)
LOL Janet .... Since you haven't hollered Bingo yet I just had to do it!
Yep - 14 calls have been made so far. Critter updates the called list at the top each morning I believe. I just went back through the thread and these are the ones that have been called as of tonight:
2 Guelph's Christmas
3 Volkman"s Merry Christmas
7 Christas Candy-O
11 Festive Holiday
12 Holiday Lights
15 Santa's Kiss
18 Ness' Cranberry Lace
21 The Littlest Angel
22 Victorian Angel
23 Perfect Angel
24 Angel Frost
28 Candy Cane
30 Peppermint Candy
32 Rebel's Gingham Elf
:) I was a little slow typing the list ... I see Critter confirmed the 14!
Critter,
Love all these great pics you are posting. I notice that many of them come from first class. I have the first class updated disc and know how to print out labels or put the information in the plant files. BUT I don't know how to use the photos like you are doing. Do you mind telling me how I can use the first class photos I have on a post?
gail
They're all coming from First Class. I've been trying to note the photographer also, as that's something that I think I should be doing to be sure credit stays with the photo.
When you've got the entry pulled up in First Class, go to the Edit menu. One of the pull-down choices is "Save photo as..." Click on that, and you can save the photo as a file on your computer. I have them all in a folder marked "photos from First Class," and I've been putting both the cultivar name and the photographer's name on the file name. Once it's saved as a file on your computer, you can upload the image onto a post on DG just like you would one of your own photos.
HTH!
You smarty pants! Thank you so much! I had no idea I could do this. I just make my list for whatever plants i need to mark on a container and then don't save. I am going to copy and paste your instructions and keep them right here by the computer until I can get this task done!
Thanks again so much
gail
You're welcome! I love First Class. It doesn't come with much in the way of instructions, though, as I recall. You have to sort of play with it until you figure out what it does. I think I had it for a month before I figured out that clicking that "copy to clipboard" button next to the photo of the entry copied the official description of the cultivar... also a useful thing to know!
Oh, I noticed how popular the "Candy" name cultivars were... thought folks might be interested in a Chocolate Truffles recipe I posted this afternoon... http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/794984/ :-)
This is funny with the recipes being such a hit! I love it!
You'd love the truffles... truth! :-)
Good morning!
First call today is...
5. Christmas Carol
Christmas Carol (S. Sorano) Semidouble light fuchsia star/thin white edge. Dark green. Standard
FC photo courtesy of Carol Vaughn. It figures that somebody named Carol would have to grow this one... I may try to find one for my mother! About this time of year, Dad starts referring to her as "his Christmas Carol." awwwww. :-)
Don't have that one so take it back and call another.
ROFLOL!
Now, now, it's my mommy's name! How could I be taking that one back? :-)
That makes me smile, that your Dad calls your Mom his "Christmas Carol" ... so very sweet! And, I know she must love it!
Yeah, they're pretty cute together!
:-)
Too Cute! Tell your Dad it made me laugh!
I'm loving the pic's of all these Beautiful AV's - some I've never heard of before!
