the phrase i wish was still in common usage is "hung up." when i did a production of HAiR a few years back i became very fond of it. Sheila is hung up on Berger, etc...
What are your DG and NE Forum stories??
When I was real young - about six or seven, there was a word in use for a while which meant cool or neat - 'boss'.
Boss Hogg?
Victor was in Hair production 40 years ago I think.
Yeah the curtain went down about seven years ago. Tried to revive 'Roots' but got nowhere.
groan.
Now you can skip the 'Shampoo'
no groans allowed
no groanups here.
I prefer the term grups
Yes - changed media and went straight to the soaps.
That's too close to grubs for Amy!!
Trekkie reference for you
I should try to get online during the evening hours. You guys are brilliant then! Not that you aren't brilliant at other times. It just seems that the wit really flows after 9 PM.
Yes, Candyce - I've noticed that.....I think the Sundowner's Syndrome starts to fade around 9ish and the brilliance just kicks in for them. I have Extended Sundowner's Syndrome, so it doesn't work for me.
Amy, I got hung up for awhile in my first marriage. LOL
I'll be back at 9 ;)
Al and I have to coordinate the time zone thing or there is a ridiculous delay.
10 pm for us... guess cows and poultry don't do daylight savings out there... - Jersey cows are used to it already!
I need to figure out if that Sundowner's Syndrome is the opposite of the Tequila Sunrise Syndrome I once had.
Joeisey cows? Don't make me post a cow photo!
I think we wasted all the time we had saved up - or the state's time tax took it away.
Our state tax took away the cows...
Our friend has a small dog with Holstein markings.
Hi everyone, just discovered Victor's new thread but I see aa usual it is off from where it began, lol I have hardly been on the computer much because of injections in the eye for macular degeneeration, it is very hard for me to read.
When my husband was very ill, my daughter thought I should have a compteer to get a bit of respite from taking care of him. She and husband brought me one I asked them now what am I suppose to do with that, ha ha. Daughter suggested since I have been gardening all my life to find something about it on the internet, showing me how to get google and that is where we found DG it has been a wonderful experience for me and to think I told her several times, I do not want this 'crazy' machine, now was that not a silly thing to say?
Maria
Does it moo or bark, 2Zeus??? LOL
Hi Maria - it's good to hear form you again!! So sorry that your eyes are bothering you. Eleanor
Maria - I am happy for you that you found this wonderful resource and community. I have other friends who have macular degeneration, and they, too, struggle a bit but find it so worth their efforts. Kudos to you! I hope you have good results from the injections.
Thanks, it was a very hard choice to make, either go blind in 12 month ot take the chance to be blind at once but so far so good must have several more of them, but perhaps it will prolong vision in the one eye I still can can see with, so far.
Will try to get back here soon again, saving that eye mostly for lurking right now.
The injections have worked well for many people. I understand how difficult the decision must have been, but hopefully you will benefit a lot from the treatments!
Welcome back Maria - you were missed. Best of luck with the treatments. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Hi Maria, best wishes! ☺
Barks, but is very bovine in shape as well as colouring.
Cheryl - does it "moof" or "woo"?
Glad to have you back, Maria!
A 'moofing' dog! That's funny!
Glad to 'see' you back, too, Maria. You have such wonderful stories to tell. I always feel blessed when you share.
"Moof" is a fairly accurate description of those under-the-breath barks dogs do when they've been told firmly to be quiet - some breeds insist on having the last word.
hmmmm... interesting... and I always thought those were just "dog thoughts". Both of my dogs "moof" all the time. It usually precedes a major barking session.
I was looking for information on what to do with some fiddle leaf figs and rubber trees that had to be cut down from an atrium that had been severely damaged when Hurricane Rita came through Beaumont. My husband and his brother had gone to where BIL's lady worked (at the atrium) to salvage whatever plants they could before the building was demolished. I'd grown both before, but never had them handed to me whacked off in such big proportions. I googled propagating fiddle leaf figs and Dave's Garden links kept on coming up. I checked it out, found the information I needed. Before the night was over, I'd paid my money and joined the site. I could see that this site would give me much information on many of the plants I already had. I'd been "winging" it up until then, hoping and praying that I was doing the right things. More often than not, buying replacement plants in the spring.
I wandered around the site, popping from forum to forum, meeting the neatest folks. To date, I've only met a couple that I didn't just love.
My birthday rolled around this past year and I was informed that there were birthday greetings here in the Northeast Forum. You just can't imagine my surprise when I was told about it. I don't believe I'd ever been in the NE forum until that day. I was really glad that Eleanor told me about it, or I might still not have even ventured this far to the North (on Dave's). I was pleasantly surprised that many of the good folks I'd met in the Photos and Artisans forums were hanging out right here.
Most days, I "hang my hat" in the coleus forum (I'm pretty much obsessed with collecting them) or the artisans forum, but I just never know which direction my mouse will take me. I can't say that I've lurked a lot over here, but every time an interesting title on the NE forum would show up on the latest posts, I'd sneak in and see what was happening.
Today, I added the NE forum to my favorites, cause you folks always seem to have so much fun. Both Victor and Al are 2 of my favorite folks here on DG. In my feeble mind, I kind of consider them like brothers, since I never had any of them in real life. They seem like the kind of guys that I'd want to have as brothers. I figure they'll make sure I don't get into any trouble here. :-)
So here I am. I brought some chocolate chip cookies with me. :-)
Janet
Oh, here is a photo of the fiddle leaf figs that brought me to Dave's in the first place. Sadly, none of them survived, but all of the rubber trees did and they are doing quite well!
I bought a green house trying to get information on how to start. Kept searching the web and DG kept popping up. That was this year. I think Celeste posted a picture Storm of the Century. That was back in april. I couldn't stay away and joined in July or August. Dang has it been that long?
Thanks Janet. Maybe that's because Al and I have such feeble minds! Much easier to deal with life that way! Nice story and you're always welcome here.
(Waiting for the cookies.)
scattered???
What about me? I want cookies, too!
circuitous?
There's plenty for everyone. If you hurry. And there's plenty more where those came from. :-)
