Maybe I'll shave his tail and call him Victor.
Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - User's Guide
I'm flattered!
I'd hope so! I can't imagine the difficulty in holding the squirrel while shaving the blonde tail.
Barbers have the same problem with Victor.
My son has the same "do" but does it himself as I'm sure Victor also does.
PrimeroseSue..I plead to the time stamped as not enough coffee for normal brain waves to be in proper working order.
Of course I do my do. Shave it every other day.
Can never go wrong with an Uncle Charlie reference. With this writers strike they might have to rerun Manimal.
Or your favorite Al - Alf.
Yo Willie!
I hated Alf - he ate cats! Bad, bad alien.
So if Garfield eats lasagne - does Victor like or dislike him?
As long as it's not mine! I like lasagna and Garfield!
OK, I'm way behind on this thread. I've been making calendars for each member of my family and I've spent so many hours on the computer that I haven't been on DG very much for the last couple of days. They came out great and then I took them to Staples to be bound. I'm tired of looking at dates (calendar dates that is)!! Don't have anything weird to add except I don't know what you're talking about so I guess you all are on the right track!! Eleanor
Watch out Celeste. They don't let you you forget a spelling error around here! Mine has been immortalized in umpteen continuations of this thread I originally started!
Sue, Basic idea was, we get off track so much that we might not be able to stay on track on a thread meant to be off track. Scatological has to do with the study of feces or of bathroom humor (we are going with the latter here). Desultory is randomly changing subjects.
Back to the original theory, we at the NE forum, who often turn our thread topics into desultory ramblings, often turn this desultory thread into coherent topics. And I wouldn't have it any other way!
Dave
Spelling errors as in "floopy". Dave is right, Celeste.
Maybe I should send an invite to my Eng. Prof. so he can have a field day here at DG? LOL
Zuzu has all the degrees and more. She has already said she sees so many errors every day at DG. Her top pet peeve seems to be how people misspell definitely as "definately".
I'll bet Celeste really didn't msipell their!! I'll bet her fingers got mixed up - mine do all of the time!! Eleanor
My fingers do get mixed up all the time, and not enough coffee is another downfall. But i also do some pretty silly things some time.....like put the gallon of milk in the cupboard and the coffee pot in the fridge. No, I am not blonde....just have blonde moments!
Maybe we're twins pixie!! I just try to do too many things and do them too fast and type too fast and the cap. key comes back up before i press the key i want capped. I also type a lot of run on sentences!! Eleanor
You are defunitely right Eleanor.
I use (in case you haven't noticed) parenthesis (is that the correct spelling?) far too often.
The ironic thing is that when Sue mentioned the i before e rule, Celeste was following it! (except after c or when sounded as "a" as in neighbor or weigh and any other time the rule doesn't work). I would like a phonetic alphabet, remove the redundant letters like "c" and add new ones for consonant blends that don't sound like their component parts like "ch". Let's start tomorrow.
Al!
According to firefox I never spell anything right!! I seem to put u's where they don't belong....
Maybe they need a foreign version of Firefoux.
I want to speak in defense of non-spellers. They tend to be a very agreeable, likeable lot, who never get bent out of shape regarding how someone spells - a real sense of tolerance and acceptance.
On the other hand, spellers often are very intolerant of the non-spelling!
however, grammar mistakes (they're, their, there) are unacceptable :-)
kinda like which witch is which?
right - one that get's me is when people mix up than and then.
Here's an interesting site for you, Seandor.
http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/than.html
"Than" is used for comparisons and "then" is for time.
One of the reasons my first marriage failed was that neither of us could spell. I chose well the second time with the ability to spell high on the list of requirements for a new mate. Then along comes spell check and just think, I could have lived alone forever. Just kidding, I adore my DH plus his ability to spell. Our son, got my spelling genes. Poor kid. Nantucket has an adult spelling bee as a fund raiser which is hugely popular. They do it in teams of three. I just did a spell check and it found no errors. Unbelievable. Can it be? A first. Patti
There is a spell check on DG????
Thanks pirl - I don't mix them up - but many of my students do and I think it is because they don't pronounce then and than differently.
Sendor, No, it is the spell check on my tool bar where I seem to spend most of my time while on the computer. na, reelly (is tat currecx, firDave47) Patti
Remember the whole Dan Quayle thing and his spelling of "potato" ???
Who could forget? This even made the news in Canada - must have been a slow week for news - thank goodness.
And I say tomahto!
Seriously, most of my spelling errors are because I let my fingernails get too long at this time of year.
a likely excuse, Candyce...LOL !
You could do what I saw a receptionist do many years ago - type with a pencil so as not to break or damage her glue-on nails - one pencil per hand.
Funny, Cheryl! That's how I used to use the little calculators. Who has such tiny fingers anyhow?
