What is still in bloom?

Orlando, FL

I have never heard of Johnny Jump ups going thru winter....I can see how that would be very exciting. I grew up in Ohio. I love Johnny Jump Ups.

I never thought of calling someone a Pansy as a compliment....I will have to keep that in mind.

kwanjin....I was just so excited to sharemy pretties....I will stop rubbing it in now....(looking innocent over here.) ;p

What is your weather like? It has been more than 25 years since I was up north in winter. So I forget what a winter can be like. It was 48 here night before last and I was so cold. Then I see that 90 percent of the US is in a deep freeze on the news and I realized I should appreciate what I have. I feel so bad for all of you in that kind of cold.
Be safe and stay warm.

C, I would never call you a pansy! :)

Thanks, T! Luv ya!

Don't you dare stop passing along the pretties, innocent look or not! LOL

We had 11 inches of snow in the parking lot where I work. Does that give you an idea? The weather can be good or bad. It can never make up it's mind.

Why am I just now finding this thread? Where have I been all this time-- out-to-lunch, I guess!!! LOL

Seeing all these gorgeous photos has given me a really bad case of spring fever. Now see what y'all have done!!
The only thing I have blooming in my garden is pansies--bless their sweet little faces!!

I'll tell you something that has surprised me, though. I planted several purple and pink "wave" petunias in my front flower bed this past spring rather than putting them in hanging baskets. Normally, petunias don't make it through our winters--they are considered annuals around here. Well, I can hardly believe it but those petunias are still green and have even survived our most recent very cold weather! I am eager to see if they will make it through to spring and if they will bloom again this year.

That's very pretty, Mau. Thanks!

I got up the other morning and found something peeking through the snow and I knew spring was on it's way.

LOL, Celia! Nothing like a bald head peeking through the snow to make us realize that Spring is on the way!

Ok some more hope for you. I went out this morning to walk the dogs and low and behold...I have these...I am not even sure what they are called...but the vine is huge and the flowers are so beautiful.

Moofiepoo, that is beautiful--looks sort of like a morning glory. You could post this picture on the plant ID forum and ask if anyone can ID it for you. Mysharona lives in Florida--you might dmail her this photo, too. She might be able to help you.

It's gorgeous. I'd like to know what it is, too.

Here is a closeup of the flowers above. It is not a morning glory I am sure of that. I took your advice and put in a request for identification. They are so pretty....but not really a smell. If I let the vine go it will climb to the top of the oak tree about 3 stories tall. It took up more than 60 feet of fence a few years ago. When we had the hurricanes several years ago I had to cut it to the ground it was so mangled. But it is well on the way to coming back. I do not know how to get starts or I would share.

Somebody will ID it. These people are GOOD.

Orlando, FL

They did ID it already...thanks to Mamajack. It is a Thunbergia...or Blue Sky vine I forgot the other name already...go figure. I will try to get some cuttings of it next month and see what happens. It is such a lazy and easy to grow vine. I pretty much ignore it and it rewards me with flowers for leaving it alone...HAHAHA.

moofiepoo,

as soon as i looked at your picture, I "knew" what it was, but could not think of the name.
Bummer! Here is a picture of the same plant I took last year at the Conservatory here. It was growing all over a huge, curving archway in one of the greenhouses.

Gita that is a good picture. I was told they smell good, but mine does not smell. Does that one smell good? Just curious.

Keep us updated on the cuttings.

Moofie...
Sorry! I don't remember. I do think it had a fragrance.,....

I will keep you posted on cuttings. I went out this morning and took the tour with the dogs. I had 2 tulips open, a pretty pink one and a ruffly looking yellow one. I have never grown them down here and had forgotten all about them. I had found bulbs at the dollar store 6 mixed bulbs for a dollar, so I got some and planted. They do not smell...but are pretty. My yellow king humbert canna opened today too. Spring is just around the corner for all of you in cold wintery weather. My daughter has the camera today...I will try to get some pics soon.
