Well DB, should be able to give you snow fall accumulation on Monday morning. I'm hoping I have inches to report, not feet!
Wish us luck, if all the right "players" are in proper "positions" we could end up with a doozie. DH is trying to make sure everything is working on the plow truck, nothing like waiting until the last minute!!! Country boys have country-thick heads sometimes.
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 7
Oh-we're in the same place Pixie with last minute plow stuff! I heard on NPR something about the ocean swinging things back your way. Lucky you! I know that seems to contradict my love of heat, but I think that if it's gonna be winter there should be LOTS of snow!
It seems that everyone will be getting a taste of this storm. It's in Cali now and expected to move across the United States in 2.5 days.
This what I read for us:
"The Northeast is mainly quiet and chilly Saturday with lingering snow showers from Upstate New York to Maine. As the big storm from out of the Southwest and Midwest gradually shifts into the Northeast Sunday and Monday, a wintry mix will change to rain western and southern Pennsylvania, central and southern New Jersey, New York City and Long Island and southeast New England, but could stay all frozen over northeast Pennsylvania, northern New Jersey, Upstate New York, interior southern New England and northern New England. A secondary low could form off New Jersey Sunday night, helping to keep the cold air in place across the Hudson River Valley and most of New England. The secondary low could really explode as it slowly moves from off New Jersey to western Nova Scotia Monday and Tuesday. The Northwest would become very windy. Also, much of New England would see a significant snow where parts of New Hampshire and Maine could see accumulations well over 12 inches."
You can read the rest concerning the rest of the United States here:

Florida sounds good right now.
Yes it does Victor!
Gulp! Time to batten down the hatches, and get ready to make snow cream! Hope the plows are all ready and everyone stays safe and warm. I'll stop whining about the humidity here.
Kath - I know Lochloosa......sure wish I could have shipped you some humidity today!
WaterCan - It is true that the plants really like the humidity here. This morning, I thought it had been raining - the Red Ti plants were dripping wet, and nice and pink!
Cooled off some for our evening walk.
Florida RU anyone???
Pixie the storm that is headed your way from here in the southwest is indeed a wet one. So far we have received .50 of rain in my gauge. It is still raining and the big part of the storm they say is to come thru tonight. So far it has been a gentle, no wind, soaking rain. Just fantastic!
Acorns...!
Louise, how many extra bedrooms you got?
Thanks for the wonderful info Celeste!! I knew there was a storm coming but I missed the weather report last night so I hadn't heard the latest. I'm supposed to have my post-op appointment in Albany on Monday at 1:45!! I hope the storm is going to be finished by afternoon on Monday. Maybe I should leave now!! The trip down for the surgery was in freezing rain and now lots of snow for this trip. This is why I like to hibernate in the winter. Eleanor
Eleanor, are you feeling better? How's the healing going?
DD has an appointment with her doctor Monday morning too. They say her due date is Jan. 6th....but they are wrong! After having 5...I know what a soon to give birth mother looks like and if she makes it to Christmas i'll be shocked. She dropped way before Thanksgiving and has gotten noticably larger just in the last week. I don't want her driving in a snowstorm in that condition.
Celeste, Thanks, I am feeling great and I think the healing is going really well. TG I don't have to drive myself, my DD#1 is driving me. I don't drive in Albany any more unless I really, really had too and I won't in rush hour traffic. A couple of years ago when I was still driving down there I took DD#2 to the airport and it was about 2:55. I pushed her out at the curb and I raced back to the Northway (rt. 87) to get ahead of the state workers who get out at 3:00 - made it!! Just got in the left lane and floored it until I got out of the Albany area. Eleanor
p.s. Maybe you will have a Christmas baby!!
It's 18 degree's here now, expecting a high of 24 today and very windy! Because of the windchill we are in the single digits really.
Feels Like: 1°
Barometer: 30.06 in and rising
Humidity: 25%
Visibility: 10 mi
Dewpoint: -8°
Wind: WNW 21 mph
Sunrise: 6:55 am
Sunset: 4:00 pm
Quite windy - drying the leaves which are blowing down the street. Current temp = 29 degrees (but feels like 17) Expected to rise to 32.
Very sunny though :-) supposed to snow tomorrow night
Snow is moving in today. Snow almost always brings in warmer temp's and it will be above freezing after midnight.
Temp 31.5°, Wind N14.8mph, Wind Chill 13.7°, Baro 30.17↑,
Rh 47%, Dp 13.7°
Partly Sunny now.
29.5, 15 MPH winds, 18 wind chill. I'm not budging. It's been sunny all morning but much too cold to even consider planting anything.
I agree, planting is definitely out. But I still have to rack the leaves in the back and sides, not sure if I'll get to do the front before sundown. Plus I have to bring in some Bonsai trees... it's going to 19° here tonight!
I haven't even checked tonight's forecast. The wind sounds like an endless freight train.
Rake the leaves with this wind? Just point them in the right direction and let them go to a neighbor's house.
Al - please post that photo during a heat wave.
Louise:
Anna and I are on the way for that FL RU!
Al:
Love the photo. Brrrrrrrrr
Eleanor:
So glad to hear that you are getting better each day.
Today's weather:
Sunny and freaking COLD! Only 17* at the warmest part of the day!!
It's sunny, though.
Looks like we will be measuring our snow in FEET on Monday.
Cute little tree, WC! Is it snowing there? Sounds Christmasy in New England.
Not yet DB but whatever is out there now is frozen! Skies are overcast and getting ready to let loose. The temperature has been dropping steadily all day. I love the snow...but the wet soggy type is no friend of mine! The plants/ trees need the water though, cold temps bring dry air.
ooooh, WC, be careful shoveling that wet, heavy snow....dangerous stuff!
Al - I forgot to mention that I like your latest waterscape!
Candyce and Sue..... I'll see if I can find an RU houseboat on the River! Now, that would be the life! Ever since I read about Huck and Tom and that cool raft they had, I've wanted to tool around on a houseboat/raft.
Just got back from taking my grandson to have his picture taken (professionally). His mother is in Baltimore again so DD#!, my SIL and I took him. What a ham he was!! The pics came out awesome. I know this is the weather channel, but I'm getting to that. I'm so glad to be back home cause it is windy and bitterly cold!! Can hardly wait to add snow to that tomorrow!! Brrrrrrrrrr! Frosty
I like DG on a Sat. night........lots of action to keep up with!! Maybe we're all social duds......seems like we're all around home on Sat. nights!! LOL
Al, do you live on a houseboat?
Seeing that you like BC - are you from New England originally? Oh, don't forget to check out Michaela's sleepover thread!
20 degrees here and snow in the forecast. Oh no!!
24.5°, Windchill 9.9°
Careful, Louise, one person's "social dud" is another person's "DG addiction"!
It was 18 degrees and wicked windy all day. I had wanted to put up a few outside lights today but opted for inside dec's instead.
Good morning everyone! I was busy yesterday with so many different things. Did you ever have a day that you start many, but finish few? ah well..
Light Snow *** I guess it's officially winter!

No snow yet this morning, but a Nor'Easter is in the forecast for sure.
Temp: 15*
Dew Point: -2* (yes ~ that is a 'minus' sign!)

Barometric Pressure: 30.51 and falling
Sunrise: 7:01 Sunset: 4:15
Moon Phase: Waning crescent
Al, did you get more snow - what was your total? Good Morning America showed Minnesota with over a foot, so I was wondering how you fared when it was all said and done.
It is snowing in Bridgeport!
Now you can try that new shovel out!!
For today it is:

The sunrise this morning was beautiful!! I'm posting a photo so I can look at it tomorrow morning when everything is white here.
Celeste, that would make a gorgeous wallpaper for your computer - very serene! Save it for the next photo contest, too!
