Sun is shinning in through window, nice day to have coffee/muffins and play with friends...
Once the podgy dries clear you should have...
Best/Worse/What did I learn...Sleigh workshop
I Love it Carol...you can always add more white to clouds...hahha, listen to me, like I know what I am doing!
Judy, you must smooch everything a little more to make it softer....
Thanks Judy..nice to see you and Alissa having fun..
wondering if it it isn't a little busy with the clouds..beacause of the small size plaque
Betty..your advise please..
remember..I can't paint fancy.
looks good judy,
now after this one i know where my short commings are so the rest should be a peice of cake.
betty has explianed everything just right, but betty i checked for thease at joanns no luck is their another fabric store that might carry thease?or simmilar
and the muffins look good to
carol i like your colors nice job
Carol, did you already glue santa if not I'd add your maroon with swiches of white and use saran wrap till the edges are blended... everyone has different tastes, once the next 2 steps are done, it will change it again..
I have a girlfriend standing here, must show you some of her treasures, especially Jeannine who loves her quilting..she purchased an angel that's just too sweet out of old quilts or just blocks that you make and she also painted a t.v. tray for grandchild with teddy bears..will post shortly, but, getting back to your question Liz, she has some she'd be willing to sell....
Thanks Betty..I'll work on it now..
when does the dap come?
betty you mean the santa's we just cut out right?
judy, looks like the group is deep in thought lol glad everyone is having a great time
yucky weather overcast and a mist of drizzle dh is cooking breakfast so im just waiting for things to dry
yes, she has quite a lot so I could post some for you..
Alright now your sleigh top with the podgie is dry right..santa well secure, well now we are going to put podgie on top of the santa and sleigh, then you can add sparkles and glitter snow..now don't go crazy with that little little sparkle dust because when the light hits your piece you'll not see anything but glitter..because the podgy is a type of glue it will adhere the snow and glitter while it's wet..will go do it and post photo
Yum, what you making? Jake made us pancakes!
Almost ready for podge.
softened up the clouds...Going to put podge on now..
great pic of your family Judy! Making memories..they will always remember making them together
Now I've put podgy just as I did before on the entire piece, should really seal in the Santa now and dropped some sparkles, dropped a few too many on the santa on right..lol..after me saying don't.. then let it dry and I'll show you the last step, then my finished pieces with runners and voila..we've made it through out 1st DG friends craft project... hope you have kind words under your breath for me...no pressure project..right???
bacon, eggs hash brown and toast and a fifth cup of coffee yikes!
now nobody cooked me breakfast..guess I'll have to do my own..gee whizz..
Can't see the glitter on the last post but when dry you will so remember, less is BEST!!!
Judy, how wonderful for you to do the craft with family..even hubby participating with cooking of breakfast..
Really, the more you do the easier it gets and they make nice cheap gifts...
June dropped in so will share he treasures..she bought that new elmo who stands, then he lays down, he laughs, he rolls over, I laughed and laughed..must get myself one for when I'm down...lol...
This is the t.v. table she painted for grandson
betty just scatter the glitter on the santa and sleigh only i cant see glitter on yours but then maby because im hungry smelling that bacon lol
you can't see the glitter Liz until the podgy dries..it's there believe me..
Here's June with her treasures...don't laugh, my house has revolving doors I'm sure...already 3 visitors and it's not noon..but that's okay..I appreciate their kindness in stopping in..Barb wanted to know if I needed anything in town, June, well she might go to Barrie with me and Louise, quick coffee..
I had to make more coffee..getting jittery....so many cigs! LOL
Carol, hope you are not smoking away because of tension..lol...is it beautiful out your way..sunny/sunny here, I keep jumping from one thing onto another..guess when my day is finally over I will have accomplished much..lol
I put more podgy on..dropped some of the big sparkles..what about the little ones???
do I podge over the sparkles after this coat?
June's painting on the table is fabulous!
OH MY gosh, Betty...not at all swearing at you,LOL
This is so much fun...we are on the glitter part now...hey thanks for the fine glitter didn't realize it was in there too.
June's art is Fantastic! HI JUNE...
Julia, want to do do all sorts of stuff now! She is thinking snowmen!
Oh..I have to tell you..I couldn't get the top off my podge..had it for a long time..so I cut the bottom off with a serated knife..LOL
Judy...Isn't it nice that Julia is on a roll....
I think my piece will be nice..oh Betty..I was just nervous because I didn't want to amke a mess of it.
You went to so much trouble sending us all the goodies to make this and we all thank you so much.
me to judy, thinking how cute to find snowmen material!
june' s table is wonderful
betty, this has been so much fun im enjoying myself and cannot thank you enough (glitter all over the floor and all) lol very gracious of you to take the time to teach us it was a relaxing class no pressure
ello betty. this is julia...are we supposed to go over it again with the podg after the glitter?
not a problem..no Carol, once you've podgied your piece (1st time to glue santa, then 2nd time overcoat) add sparkles and let dry..now I'll show you the last step...one sec while I take a picture...
No Julia, when you put podgy over the entire piece and drop snow sparkles and diamond dust you just let it dry..it's like glue so it will adhere to it..
Hey, Liz...so glad you are having fun too...wondering if your playing christmas music..LOLOL
yep this is so much fun idea's running rampid over here...
haha, will be podging everything in sight!
If you don't have a palette knife, a plastic knife or real knife will do..
The pkg with the pink 'dap' is next..DO NOT go crazy with this either
what it's intent is, is to hide the bottom where you see that it's most like material..I put a little on and drag it down into snowbank fashion, little area at a time and then when the bottom is entirely done I sprinkle a little dust also when completely dry I often just cover a bit with podgie so it protects it...also BEFORE you attach to runners, those doing sleighs, if you've been messy/messy you can tidy up the back of the sleigh with a clean coat of paint..any color suitable that you've been working with...
You will see the 2 sleighs I did along with you all..one sleigh I put runners underneath the top, on the other sleigh I put runners at the outer edge of the top..makes a wide sleigh...
bet yours are turning out beautifully...can't wait to see them..girlfriends were here, I explained what we were doing...although they think it's wonderful have a feeling they think I'm nuts..lol...
It has been fun..not leaving you but soon your treasures will be done...
June was just telling me that a friend of hers after I taught her this technique got an oval frame (could use any kind) got thin wood and cut it out as in insert and she did same technique..says it's beautiful..she'll try and get it for me so I can take photo..
As well, I'm going to purchase some twine type rope, drill a hole and have it as a 'tow rope'...
Hope the next bunch enjoy their project as well...some will be getting their package hopefully this week and some could not be with us today, but once they see yours, they may take out the package and try their hand at making a sleigh..hope I didn't leave anyone out..if I did, not intentional, let me know and a kit will be sent out...
What pleases me the most is it can be done with friends and family..oops Sailor barking..someone here again..lol
bet if you didn't have brad nailer and you put the runner on the side with finishing nails you could nail them..I stand the top on edge, put glue on sleigh edge, have someone help you and place the runner, put a few nails and when glue dries it will be ok..the I turn the sleigh so that the other edge is up, glue and do same..voila..your sleigh is done...
