So now you have to invent solar powered fake koi - it's all up to you, Victor! The pressure is on!
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 6
Love the pics of snow, Celeste and Victor. I could have used some this afternoon. We had to turn on the a/c........just too warm and humid...rough sleeping last night. Molly panted all night. She'll sleep better tonight........I'm looking forward to the next cold front!
Can you believe this? The city of Naples had its Festival of Lights tonight - with Santa and the lighting of the big Christmas tree!!! I don't get it........it seems like they've just blown off Thanksgiving completely and moved pronto into the Merry Merchants version of Christmas. Ugh......and one radio station is now playing all Christmas music. Wait.....!!! Stop!!! I'm NOT READY to be in Christmas mode before Thanksgiving!!!!!
I'd prefer plant fearing real Koi! Louise, that's weird. Every year the Christmas stuff, decorations and music start earlier and earlier. It's ridiculous.
Couldn't agree with you more, Victor! Before long we'll be bumping off the Fourth of July for Santa!
Boy am I impressed with the winning photos in the Photo Contest. So many of them came from our NE Forum. With those great examples, no wonder we have such a chatty and busy forum! You guys really deserved to win! The calendar should be amazing! I am just blown away by them all! Huge congrats!!
Victor, that is just about the best pond pic I have seen yet. It is absolutely beautiful,so quiet and serene.
Lucille
Rumor has it there were voting irregularities in the WI precincts.
Thank you posy!
Temp 35.7°, Wind ENE 0.1 mph, Baro 30.17, Rh 70%, Dp 27.2°
Scattered clouds with a 3/4 moon out tonight. The city got a few flurries & rain I hear as per news radio...
pirl that must have been some job with those Dahlias! I can't imagine the asparagus would be even harder! I thought they overwinter...
VG those innocent, cute, little, adorable Koi did all that damage? Maybe it was a raccoon or a squirrel on steroids! ☺
I think Koi have built-in steroids! They tripled in size in one year. And the language barrier was always another problem.
WC - we have a 12 x 12 bed of asparagus. Now the ferns are taller than I am and once we get a frost they turn yellow. Then they get cut back to the ground, everything gets compost, paths get redefined and all the ferns go through the chipper for the six compost piles. It's a day long job. This is how it looked last time it was cleaned up, in April.
Victor - maybe the Koi could have used some Japanese irises to keep them company.
Very pretty, posy - thanks! They look a lot like Koi anyway.
32 and mixed precip here.
Overcast and 24 degrees here. No wind this am,the calm before the storm no doubt.
Well there it is, the first flakes of the season. Just flurries and the temp is all he way up to 27 degrees. Hard to believe 55 for T-Day. Gotta luv that New Eng. weather. :)
It's SNOWING!!! Cars are having one hell of a time getting out of the parking lot at the college. I am watching the cars skid all over the place.
Have I told you I hate snow????
no snow here, but my professor at CCSU e-mailed me saying to only come if i thought it was safe. i thought, "Huh?" Then i looked at their weather. So here i am at home!
Honestly, when a teacher (who is known to cancel or dramatically shorten classes anyway) tells you to come if you want, but its ok if you don't, it isn't really inspirational!
Just started snowing here, temps are now at 34. What ever snow we get today will be gone tomorrow, predicting 50's so it's not staying.
Victor:
That snow photo I saw a few posts up is great!
We actually got about two inches of snow this morning.
There's a weather advisory in effect now for freezing
rain for this afternoon. It's damp and dark out with a
slight drizzle falling (noon-time).
I couldn't resist taking this photo today ...
Oh Candyce! That just looks so cold! Not that our weather is sunshine - not at all. Damp and dank and I'm glad to be inside with the scent of a New Orleans bread pudding filling the air.
No fair mentioning bread pudding!!!!! It's my favourite dessert :-)
WC - congrats on your honorable mention in the contest!
Wow, that’s nice pirl, simple & well built… meticulously kept! Good use of space. It must look like a mini-cornfield on a raised bed when the plants are big. I didn't know asparagus plants got that big! Do you have to stake them? ps. got my plants today - there going in tomorrow!
Temp 47.4°, Wind SSW 0.1, Baro 29.82↓, Rh 74%, Dp 39.2°
Cold and rainy this am, Dark, overcast and drizzle now... generally a dismal looking day 'weather-wise' - but then everyday is a day to be thankful for... ☺
-32 days till Winter.
'Simple and well-built' - I always hoped I'd meet her.
Ahh,Thank you, Thank you VG, (in a loud Gilbert Gottfried voice) LOL!
He comes around everyday, knocks on my kitchen door with his beak for peanuts, I'm going to buy him a little doorbell...
Victor, I don't believe the simple part!
A
rlene - impressive asparagus bed prep. Mine was a rats nest of weeds when last I looked before we headed south. We never got around to weeding it, so spring asparagus will be hard to find!
Posy - love your pretty fishy!!
Victor - Yeah, right! I can't see you going for simple........You're on the money, Deb!!
Good typing on the "Arlene" in my last post! LOL One might say I was trying to appear "not simple"..........
R - lean is her 'street name'.LOL
Funny, Al!
You got it D to the B
Nothing simple about that one, Al!! LOL
Hey, Michaela - let's meet half-way, say Worcester, and have a bread pudding together! Neither my dh or dd's like it - it's one of my faves also!
mmm... there's a place in STL that makes white chocolate bread pudding drizzled with chocolate liqueur. it is SO good.
but it is easy to make a simpler kind...
It was good, not great but good. I really like the sliced pears in it - my own idea. I served it warm from the oven with heavy cream. Guess I shouldn't have to wonder where the winter weight comes from!
A
rlene
(I like it!)
Sure! Now you tell me, Amy! Well, I'll just have to try that next time.
LOL, A
rlene
Oooooh, Amethyst, ANYTHING with liqueur in it is good!
I didn't even make the Bourbon sauce that was supposed to top the bread pudding. Rats! Now I have to make it again.
