It's 45 this morning. Much better :) High of 58, sunny and pleasant. Today is DH's b'day...not bad for a November b'day.
Today's Weather in Your Garden - 6
pirl, you're really holding out, there!
Happy Birthday George!! Hope you have a wonderful day!
46 and drizzly here. Should be in the upper 50's later. Happy Birthday George!
Yes, we are!
Happy birthday, George!
It's 11AM. It's finally over the 40 degree mark for the first time in
about a week! It feels almost like Spring!! I know - don't get
my hopes up!!
It was very foggy and 38* at 7 this morning.
It might get up to above 50*, but once again, I'm not
holding my breath.
It will be on-and-off sunshine all day long. I guess that means that
I should get outside and clean up the clean-up. I just KNOW we
left some pots or something laying about.
According to our weather forecast, any rains should be holding
off until Thursday. And, today will be the warmest day all
week long. Enjoy it while it's here!
53 but it feels warmer for once! Must be the glorious sunshine! Off I go to enjoy the garden.
55 and gorgeous here. Out to clean windows!
When you are done with your windows, Victor, you can come and do mine. It might be a stretch to get the second-story ones though, although you could hang out the window like I do when I'm feeling adventurous.
I'm glad that I went outside. I found five empty pots and one filled with soil. I also found my little gardening wagon. I had to turn it upside down to drain out some rain water, and I'll hose it down later. But now I can say that I have cleaned up the clean-up!
It was very nice and warm in the sun.
Done with the windows! Beautiful out there. Thanks for the invitation Candyce, but mine are more than enough. Wonder if Bill Gates does windows.
Temp 54.6°, Wind WSW 0.0, Rh 65%, Baro 29.79↓, Dp 42.9°
Overcast most of the day here, sun broke out late in day. Barometer finally entered a Fall pattern.
* Wishing your DH a Happy Birthday grampapa, Scorpio methinks! ☺
I have it on good authority that Bill Gates does not do windows. Melinda does, but only those with a vista.
Very good, Candyce! 52 and partly sunny here.
Noontime!!
It began REALLY cold this morning, at 23* and fog. The frost was so
thick that it looked like snow! Just glancing out my bedroom window
gave my heart a jump-start!!! Tell me, when it is very foggy and the
temperatures are so cold as to cause a frost ... is it called a 'frog'?
The temperatures have rebounded well and it is 52* now. I will go
and wash out my little garden wagon in a few minutes. It's mostly
sunny, so staying warm won't be a problem at all.
Oh yeah ...
Sunrise: 6:39 Sunset: 4:26
It was sunny out but never felt as warm as predicted. Then around 3 PM it became overcast so I gathered up the 12 clumps of dahlias I dug and brought them in - each one with a label so I won't have to guess next spring. I also got three beds ready for the spring planting of dahlias so I'll be ready to plant next year. I even bleached the new and improved brick path to the shed and edged another bed. I like the feeling of being ahead in many areas.
About 15 more dahlias to go...another day. Time to cover up the lettuce for the night. This evening could bring the first frost.
I like the "frog", Candyce! Very good!
Temp 56.4°, Wind S 0.4mph, Baro 29.67↓, Rh 69%, Dp 46.2°
Clouds thickening all day, with very little wind, Barometer Low and still dropping. It has all the indications of a nasty storm forming overhead.
Yippee! Woke up to 51 degree's! It's misting, but it's not cold at least. Yesterday wasn't to bad either, but not this warm.
That just sounded like one of those Jeff Foxworthy sayings.
"You know your from Maine when you wake up claiming its a warm 50 degree's"
I agree, Pixie, so maybe it's the Maine in my heart.
Right now we have 58 but the radio is warning about the rains coming later today. Looks like a good day for cooking.
That is warm Pixie.
High of 38 and windy here today, official end of the gardening season for me last night as I brought in my outdoor speakers.
I did the cooking thingy last Sat. for the hunters. It was 28 degree's with 15-20 mph winds and they were freezing thier butts off! (Fools) So I made venison, sausage, eggs and pumpkin bread for breakfast. Made a big pot of Chilli and a pan of Johnny cake for lunch, and crockpot chicken and veggies for supper.
I don't know - standing around waiting for a deer to show up in frigid weather? Who's the crackpot??
By the way, they're always welcome in my garden! Just don't get caught! Invisible paint and silencers, please.
43 and rain, high of 46
No deer for me, in the garden or on the table.
I'll fess up here....I don't eat venison, just cook it. And I'm married to and related to the rest of the 'Crackpots". Just don't tell anyone! Hee hee
For many years on the first day of hunting season I would get up at the crack of dawn and prepare a HUGE breakfast for my DH and his brother. It became a tradition for the first day of deer season.
I'd do two pounds of bacon ... two pounds of sausage ... tons of eggs (never counted them, just whipped them all together) ... about a loaf of bread for toast ... and mounds of pancakes. That was just for the two of them, although I did manage to sneak a piece or two of bacon!
then, they'd go off to their deer stands, and I'd go back to bed!
This morning's weather:
55* at about 7AM and POURING rain!!
It's supposed to rain all day.
There is a very gust wind which is blowing in from the
South right now, but will change direction later today and
bring in some pretty cold temperatures.
I'm just glad that it is raining and not snowing.
I feel the same way Candyce! I'll take the rain any day.
At least I don't have to figure out how I am going to bribe someone into shoveling for me ~ LOL!!!
Sunny and relatively warm at 59 degrees; winds starting to pick up (19 mph SSW, gusting to 29.) Barometer: 29.57 and falling; weather reports have a wind advisory and predictions of 100% chance of rain by afternoon. The radar weather screen shows a humongous amount of rain (my scientific meteorological term) blowing towards the Cape. Better got take in those last pots and planters.
Thanks for the alert, Emily. Just checked the radar and it looks as though it just might possibly miss us. Sun keeps playing games today.
Getting a good rain here. More than 1/2 inch and counting! Temperature is dropping. Now 45 and a chilly rain.
Temp 52.8°, Wind NW 7.3, Rh 70%, Baro 29.20↓, Dp 43.3°
Just got back from the East End of the Island, starting to rain here in the midsection. Baro still dropping, big weather change coming up, not too cold here... Yet.
Gee! You didn't stop in to see me in my pajamas?!
I thought Halloween was last month! LOL!, (jk ☺), I wanted to get back before the rain started, - just made it, getting heavier every second...
Yuck!! Cold and rainy in case you couldn't tell by my tone of voice!! Eleanor
Raining here now so you made it home in time. Stop in anytime you're out this way.
The temperature has dropped severely in the past two hours. It's down to 40* now.
- Thanks Pirl, that's very nice of you... ☺
VG, I just found out they shipped my Dawn Redwood TODAY!! I'm gonna need an Ice Pick to plant it! I think I'm going to leave it in it's container and overwinter it with my Bonsais.
Temp 46° now but wind has doubled.
We'd love to meet you.
We're at 46, also, with winds changing direction quite often and between 13 to 19 MPH.
There's still a good chance of nice weather for planting and we've done well when we've planted at this time of year. The soil is still warm so the roots can develop.
WC - congrats! Did you get the golden one?
