It will always be Harper's birthday!
It's Harper's B-day #2
Yes, Victor, it is and always will be Harper's birthday.
Kassia - it does help people to know they're not alone with their problems, health or otherwise, and having someone in the same spot is somehow very comforting.
Kassia; Have you considered Home Health? You have such a capacity for bringing joy to those you come in contact with, and you display a talent for Teaching. The Community would benefit greatly from such a Nurse.
Kassia, I work in home health and that is the future of health care. It is one of the hardest nursing jobs, but also can be flexible and very rewarding. Requires good organizational skills and flexibility, but I bet you would do fine!
Huge kudos to Debilu and Kassia for their dedication and invaluable service. Nurses are way up there in my book......including my sister who has unbelievably good instincts and knowlege, along with compassion.
Kassia - good luck with managing your diabetes and getting it back on track......you are awesome and like your other DG friends, I am sending positive vibes for you to be as happy and healthy as possible!
Stay strong Kassia!
Happy continued Birthday Harper.
Debilu, I agree. Gonna be more & more seniors trying to continue living in their homes. And what could be better than regular Kassia visits?
I agree that nurses rock!
Yes, boomers and nursing homes don't go together. Though they don't seem to have too much problem putting their parents in them!
I'm trying to have a nurse come to my home but my wife won't let me.
Kassia, you would be a fabulous nurse for people with diabetes because you would UNDERSTAND! Managing the disease is a challenge, and you would have a unique ability to communicate with your patients.
My daughter is an endocrinologist--treating diabetics is about 80% of her practice--and I know she would appreciate someone with your expertise.
We now know why Kassia is so sweet!!
Kassia - you need to take care of yourself. It's hard when you have diabetes and you have to be extra careful. I know someone who's been a diabetic since he was a kid and he does not take care of himself and it's taking a toll on his body. I think checking into Home Health Nursing would be a wonderful idea. You're just the type of person that would do well in that position - to bring a lot of cheer and joy to house bound patients, besides health care. Eleanor
And you could get your turtles certified as therapy pets and then take them off your income tax!
I LOVE the idea of turtles as therapy pets. . . I am imagining very relaxed reptiles. MY sister used to take a boa constrictor around to nursing homes as a therapy animal under the auspices of the San Francisco SPCA (I am not kidding) and people found him very soothing. Once she was stopped by a policeman on the Bay Bridge--for following too closely--and the policeman was quite put off when the boa stick his head out of his crate in the front seat.
Funny Emily. Did she get the ticket??
Oh you guys are the best... I did well today... finally my blood glucose was at the tight control numbers! (between 90 -110 am, and 2 hrs after eating!) so it was 95 at 2 pm... really great... thank God!
Victor, what do you need a nurse for??? LOL...
I have been thinkign a lot about where I will get a job. I have talked to my boss about working at the Behavioral Health services at SMOC... and he has offered me some possibilities... I hope it could work since I already work there.
More tomorrow... I am so tired!!!! big research proposal to do....
Kassia, the best part of a nursing career is all the different areas to work in, from many specialties in hospitals, to long term care, to home care, to teaching.
Right now, I don't do real nursing - I do software support and training along with compliance.
Sometimes I miss patient care.
Kassia:
It's great that you have so many options from which to choose. It must be really difficult to decide into which niche you will fit 'just right'. My hat's off to you.
I thought about working for the company that makes our clinical software - sometimes I think I know more about their product than they do. It would involve traveling to any place and teaching new customers the system. If I were single, I'd do it in a minute.
you are absolultly rigth.. it's so much to choose from... right now I am at Regis College - printing articles and trying to find an "edge" for my research project... goodness gracious I love nursing... and the more I read about and study the more I like it... really scary... I really like public health nursing.
I like the idea of visiting nursing - actually that's really what I had in mind when I think of becoming a wound care specialist... I like skin! I am definitly a one-on-one type of person... and I need a patient...
I am voluntering at a free clinic - I used to volunteer there to interpret for the docs and nurses - since it is a free clinic tons of people with no insurance goes there and of course some are brazilians... I just called them again and yes they want me there... so it's a great oportunity.
Way to go, Kassia!
Happy non-birthday, Harper.
Does Harper even bother checking anymore?!
She's only been missing for four days - just like she celebrated her first birthday in 2007.
Must be a tradition.
11 months to the next birthday.
Harper!!! Oh, Harper????!!! Where'd ya go????
Sounds like the start of a poem! ...'Your DG friends just have to know!'
We've been searchin' high and low......
But there are places even we won't go!
Maybe she is painting another room!! Eleanor
Perhaps she's lost in the snow ...
Oh where oh where did Harper go???
Is that the refrain?
But of course!
She didn't go to a Broadway show ...
And there's certainly no green lawn left to mow
Wait a minute!
We need Don Shirer here to help us out.
Tell me, oh tell, me.
Is Don about?
Let's give Don a shout.
I think he's out!
Don is out????????
