CLOSED: UNUSUAL SEED SWAP #2
Okay - how do I do this - do I include special packets of black currant swirl datura marked for "special requests" in addition to the packets I would be sending - or are they included in the count?
however you want to do it seandor. Either way is fine.
Thanks - well I have lots to share :-)
Thank you Nancy!
This sounds like fun. Neat kind of swap! I will be sending in seeds. Thanks!
JJ, it IS fun! I glanced over your haves list. PLEASE send josephs coat. I have been wanting this but havent been able to acquire any seeds :(
You have really neat plants listed. We look forward to you joining in the fun!
I actually purchased the original dianthus morning glories from the seller in the link on ebay. If those of you who want them don't get them from this exchange--I will be happy to trade y'all when we're done--I have plenty.
Tommie
Caren and Tommie -it's good to hear more personal feedback on an ebay seller. All of the feedback on the site was positive, too, but I thought that it's premature feedback-more about the shipping than the product. So it's great to hear from someone who bought something AND grew it. Tommie- I would love to trade with you if I don't get any in the swap.
JJ-I think it's great that you are joining-my chelone seeds still aren't dry, but I bet someone in this exchange has them for you!
Tommie, I might have to take you up on that!
I have chelone seeds...make sure you add them to your request list.

Good morning everyone! I thought I would pass on an easy recipe for you all to try during the holidays. Its EASY....
1 can of your favorite frosting, 1 bag of baking chips, and nuts. Microwave the chips and frosting. Remove from microwave, stir in nuts. Line baking dish with aluminum foil and pour in mixture. Smooth out and pop in the fridge til hard. Remove from fridge, take out fudge and remove foil. Cut up into pieces. You can even use the foil again to wrap the fudge up in. What could be easier!
My favorite....
coconut pecan frosting
butterscotch chips
walnuts
I have seen some very imaginative creations.
cherry frosting
white chocolate chips
maraschino cherries cut up instead of nuts
Im thinking of making like a Chunky bar using raisins. How do you think that would taste?
Theresa, that sounds like an easy recipe! I am a vegan, and while I make loads of vegan baked goods, it is not easy to make vegan fudge-but this would be easy to make vegan!-Kath
Flowerhead do you want me to send the seeds I have for you to this swap? I can't find the Liatris right now but I have the others. I can put your name on them.
Love the cannas and the EH datura and the Banana, those are some great seeds.
Peggy-That sounds great, I actually sent yours out today! lol! I am still slowly gathering stuff for this swap-but there's still time! (phew!)
Theresa - did you get the gift I sent you???
yes, I was so excited...Im sorry I forgot to tell ya how much I love them! How did you know I needed a belly button cleaner? hehehe
LOL! I hope they do well for you!
Cannagirl
I would like to have some of your
Black Currant swirl datura
Double Yellow datura
Ernest Hemingway Datura
.
o0o0hhh canna banana and spiral ginger sound good - but I don't think we are supposed to pick until everyone's are listed ..lol its really hard not too...since everyone has such good seeds :P
What is Ernest Hemingway Datura?
They are a regular Double/ Triple purple Datura but they were collected from Ernest Hemingway's Home in Key West. Kinda cool!!
I will be sending on Monday

5 Black Knight Scabiosa
5 Indian Woodoats
2 Coral Berry Symphoricarpos Orbiculatus
1 Clematis Dr Ruppel
1 Clematis Radar Love

Thanks to everyone for following the rules, and labeling their seeds so nicely.
Including a list sure has made it easier for me.
For those that sent extra goodies to me, I cant thank you enough, its very much appreciated.
What does the " * " mean by some of the seeds listed?
Caren
It means I would like to have them. But if other participants dont get enough of their other choices I will give up my selection, maybe LOL.
Robynznest, Angeltree, & Dylancgc I can send all seeds to you Monday other than the Ernest Hemingway Datura. I gave the last seeds I had to this swap. I do have seedlings coming up so in a couple of months I can give you each a seedling.....Just remind me because I WILL forget :)
Growing the E.Hemingway Dats is like Caren said, cool. It's like growing a little piece of history in your garden.
Thank you so much. I will love to grow them. I have hollyhocks that are from a friends garden that her grandmother started in 1884. I also have some other that ˆgrow that have quite a bit of history behind them as well, including one that Jesse James Aunt grew. (I know this because she is my ggggrandmother)
I think I will start a history garden.
When you do-- lmk--I have iris from the vatican (or clones of the original)
Tommie
Robynznest, A history garden sounds like a wonderful plan! Think I'll do the same. I would love some of both seeds. I had some canna seed from the Henery Ford estate, but could never get those to germinate. I'll put your name on one of the E. H. datura seedling and send in a couple of months.
Jessie James as an ancestor :) Wow! I would love to hear any family history that has been handed down in your family. I'm a history nut! You want believe this but, Bonnie Parker, as in Bonnie & Clyde, was my Grandfather's first cousin. I'd love to have had flowers handed down from her family, but no such luck.
My son's great-uncle is "Sam the Sham". He used to be a famous singer back in the day. Wrote & sang songs like Wooly Bully, Little Red Riding Hood....some of his songs are still played on new release movies today & the old time R&R radio stations. I can get you gardenia cuttings & other flowers from Sam's inlaws, if interested for your history garden. Sam is very close, even today, with his ex-wifes family.
Tommie, if you have an extra iris bulb I'd like one too. Thanks!
The history garden idea is cool! I showed you all the May Sarton rhodie above and we also have a lg laurel as well. And as an aside Samuel Clemens/Mark Twain was my great, great, great uncle. My grandmother was proud of this and her father was named after him-Samuel Clemens Hood. When I lived in CT I took her to his home in Hartford-14 yrs ago(hmm-wonder if the plants are the same from his time)

Ah, yes! Sam the Sham and the Pharoah's - remember them well from the '60's. Saw them live in the LA area - can't remember the venue any more. May have been when we went to see... Hmmm - blanked out again. I can picture the group, but can't get the names right now. (They will surely appear in living color around 3:30 am, when I'm trying to sleep for a busy week!) Mark...? They did a live show from the Valley on the weekends, and had lots of celeb's. Got it...Paul Revere and the Raiders! Whew...I shall sleep through the night! LOL!
Cool family history. The closest we come to "fame" is in the 50's when my Great Aunt and her son opened a Tavern in NJ. My cousin refused to pay protection moeny and the local Family threw him down the stairs and brike both his legs and misc other damage. Boy - some claim to fame, huh?
Egads! That sounds like something from a ganster movie. Never believed it actually happened.
My mother once told me we were distantly related on her grandmother's side to Rutherford Hayes. I told my mother this probably wasn't bragging rights as he is considered by many historians as one of the most inept of American Presidents. (apolgies to any descendants of the gentleman, only reporting the views of historians).
I think Bush............changing to keep my hostile political comments to myself :-)
