CLOSED: UNUSUAL SEED SWAP #2

Sending my seeds out today!
Nancy

Marine City, MI(Zone 5a)

I'll be watching for them!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

I am soooo in awe of all their fabulous grasses. i just know I'm going to come home with my car loaded down. (Like I really need more plants to over-winter in the sunroom. This is the first year my house doesn't look like a jungle!!!)

T - do you grow brugs?

Marine City, MI(Zone 5a)

yes, I grow brugs. We have 3 stripped down in pots in the spare room now, and have 3 more rooting, ready to be potted up. 2 of the 3 in pots finished blooming indoors and smelled up the whole house...mmmmmmmmmmmm.....
We used the brugs this year in the front flowerbed as a screen. It looked awesome!

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

I sent off 25 packs of seed today with stamps etc.~ Whoo Hoooo this is gonna be fun :)

p.s. Mine will be in the blue waterproof bubble envelope that has been all over the country dozens of times LMAO!! Both my hubby and the mailman are voting that I get rid of that thing, I told them =hey its ugly but perfectly usuable ;P (recycle recycle)

Marine City, MI(Zone 5a)

I'll be watching for that ugly blue envelope :)

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Mine are in my basement right now and knocking my socks off with their smell!! (Good thing, too, since I went down there to discover that my heat is out!!! It got down to the mid-20's last night and when I got home this afternoon, it's only 51 degrees in the main house, and 45 in the sunrrom - definitely time to turn on the furnace... Alas, it doesn't seem to be interested in performing right now. And of course it's Friday afternoon so I get to pay OT for someone to come out. Grrrr!)

And the real reason I asked...Peaches'n'Cream. Would you like a cutting of this wonderfully vaiegated leaved brug? (Sorry for the bad photo - I left it out one night not expecting a frost...but got one anyway! It didn't harm the plant, just made a mess of the foliage!

Those are absolutely gorgeous! All of you have such cool plants.

Green-eyed monster is rearing its head.

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

Let;s see Theresa, Some variegated plants I have off the top of my head-a few different brunnera, hydrangea, pulomonaria, astrantia, knotweed, calamintha, soloman's sea, lamium, weigela, Leucothoe, japanese butterbur, pachysandra and of course some hostas. But I need MORE! Sounds like our spring trade will be good! Sequee, That is an evil site that may do us all in. I just realized you are in Carmel. When I was 17 I broke down there and I was far from home(I was a young deadhead-Grateful Dead-follower for those who might say huh????)-although I now pass through there twice a year when I go to visit my folks in southwestern PA. A LONG drive-about 12 hours from here. I often stop at the Hessmart as my first stop after leaving NH. But I always think of breaking down when I go through there(I remember sitting at the Hesmart then too)lol, because some nice young hippie folk brought my friends and I to swim in a lake when we were waiting for help(from PA!!). I then a couple years later moved from PA to CT on a whim and settled not too far from you in Danbury. Which then brings us back full circle to the nursery-my in- laws live in Newtown CT, so that will not be a long way to visit the nursery! YEAH!

Oh yeah-I agree Robyn. I have not yet grown brugs. But the variegated one is LOVELY!-as they all are!

Marine City, MI(Zone 5a)

Sequee, I would love to have a variegated brug! woo hoo...you made my weekend!!!

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Let me see, I have a hubby, daughter, granddaughter, 4 horses, 2 dogs, 6 chickens, 9 cats I could trade for the varegated brug and I know with all that I would still have to pay you at least $20.00 to boot.

Is it a deal?

Georgetown, IN(Zone 6a)

I know you dont really mean that!! You really cant give up the granddaughter!

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

you're right, she will be hard to give up. Scratch her from the list and make it $150.00.

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

So Robyn are you saying we could have the girl for $130? Because i have two boys and my hubby has always wanted a girl. But technically she's not yours to give away!lol

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

Be careful, next thing you know you'll be reported for selling your granddaughter on the internet and we'll see your mug shots on TV.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Won't sell her, but we could do an even trade, how old are the boys?

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

Rotfl!!! What if I want them all??

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

what have ya got to trade?

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

I have 2 seeds of Brazilian Morning Glory that I received in a trade this year. It's not hardy in my zone. I thought it was really neat and unusual. If anyone thinks they want this I will put it in the swap. I wish I had more than 2 to send in.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Dummy me, I thought I had a real wierd one to send in, I just googled it. Red Whisker Clammy weed. It's just plain old cleome. rofl. Whoever sent this to me, got me good.

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Tommie

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

I would do the same! Will you dmail me real quick Tommie, so I can put it in my spring folder. Thanks!-Kath

Chesapeake, VA

I'm in.

Chesapeake, VA

So far I'm sending seeds for a dwarf yellow canna (with black sessame seeds in the same seed pack, black sessame seeds, and cherimoya seeds.

I thought about putting in some castor beans, too. I haven't grown them myself, but they produce a pretty plant, I'm told.

I might be able to put in some bicolor (pink-and-white) Salvia cocciodes. Hummingbird salvia. Is that unusual? (maybe not unusual, but misspelled for sure). I have orange ones, too, some with black calyxes. What do you think?

I'm just not sure what is unusual.

Southern, United States

I would like to join as well. I'll be looking to see what I have to offer!

Marine City, MI(Zone 5a)

Brightstar-the idea of this swap is to send what YOU think is unusual. I'd love some castor bean seeds :), and I never heard/seen the other ones you listed.
Here is what others are requesting:
If I can make a request for seeds? Im keeping an eye out for: Agastache seeds, peruvian lily seeds (fat chance of finding those lol), and Echinaea - Big Sky series seeds.
If anyone has those, please send them!
I'd love to have some broken color morning glories....or other unusual ones.
You can see what others have already sent here: http://www.freewebs.com/gardenbabe/unusualseedsswap2.htm

Kalama, WA(Zone 8b)

Theresa, I have peruvian lily seeds. This one's called Orange king. It's a tall plant and is earlier blooming than some of the other peruvian lilies (June here).
I originally grew this from seed myself a few years back. I was already planning to send some of them in this swap. I may still have some Agastache seeds, I'll have to check that one to be sure.

the Demono willow leaf/ dianthus morning glory is a mutant form of Ipomoea nil. The mutant strain shown here is sterile (demono). Seeds bear both normal I. nil plants and the mutant plants as well, this is obvious almost immediately. There may or may not be mutant plants from the seeds I sent, but there is a chance in each generation for the mutation(s) to occur. My plants ran 60/40 normal to mutant from 10 seeds. There are also other mutations that can occur--but I only had the willow leaf diantus flowers this year. The normal plants are attractive, bearing either a pink or blue flower.

Tommie that is SO COOL! Don't plants continually amaze you? And such different plants from the same momma-crazy!

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

I just saw my first Bat faced Cuphea, if anyone has these seeds I would like some please.

They are such cool looking plants. I liked the red and purple coloring. DH says I can't chase that one out of the house. (we have a lot of caves around here so we get the occasional bat in the house) (maybe he was talking about me being batty)lol.

anyone, please, please, please.

I think I sent some more Bat Face in, but if not I have one more packet so remind me after the swap is over if you don't receive any.

Nancy, Thank you so much. You aren't that far from. Go through Warsaw everytime I go to Belton/KC area to see family.

Do you keep yours as a houseplant?
