I was out at 8am and it was icy. I turned the corner there were cops and wreckers and a fire truck and men drivers scattered all over the place. After i got by that mess there was another guy off the road and over the left turn sign(he heee)stuck in the snowbank in a business's yard! LOL chuckled all the way to the store!!
I think when the sun came up for that short time when everything is COLDEST, the wet roads froze and were solid ice!
Got a bunch of stuff at meijer with the santa bucks cupons!!
taking care of the grand babes the rest of the afternoon!
Are ya'll ready for S-N-O-W?
What a pretty picture of the sun coming up. I know how beautiful it is here in Michigan. I have a sister in law who lives in north Alabama who can't understand why anyone would want to live where there is winter. She feels so sorry for us. The truth is, I'm the one who feels sorry for her when she got her three hundred dollar electric bill trying to keep the house cool this summer and how everything burned up from the 100 year drougt. Somehow people think snow is the worst thing that can happen but I see much worse things in so called "better areas" like the fires and earthquakes and mudslides in California and the drought and heat int he south. I couldn't take it. I have to live where there is moisture and cool temps so you can be outside. I can't take the heat. I can take the cold a lot better. I love the snow as long as it isn't ice. I can't walk on ice so I just stay in. I don't have to go out.
Loon the little mister and I were talking about that this morning be for I went to work He hates winter and would love it if I would GO SOUTH for it But as much as I hate ice I love it here

Dori
enjoy your wonderful vacation!
dh and I agree wholeheartedly that 80 is too hot for us.
working in that hot is icky.
but, freezing 100 foot hoses, drag into the house
to the basement than out to fill the stock tanks is a chore and
a half. we are trying to think up a better solution
sheri
Sheri instead of dragging the hose inside every day...we empty the water out of the hose out by dragging it over a tree limb and yes we have at least 100 feet of hose too. Try it.
One of these days I'm going to get yard hydrant out by the barn.
We don't plan on working in the 80 degree temps...just laying on the beach, sipping Margaritas and soaking it up! I hope I can get enough sunshine to tide me over for at least a month. Hopefully somehow I will survive Feb. & March. Those are Godiva chocolate months ya know?
Well, its either that or anti-depressants. ;o)
I agree. I can handle the cold better. And also hate ice.
I used to hate winter, never getting warm enough. Then moving here, we have quads to play on, warmer clothes to walk and enjoy the outdoors, and a woodstove that is not only pleasant and warm, but you can cook on it too.
Now I look forward to hot soup, a fire and a walk in the snow.
Best purchase I ever made for winter walking. (well, in the spring when there is ice on the ground) is something called "yak traks" They are spring like things that slip over your shoes or boots and you don't even know they are there. Except that you hug to ice, even wet ice, with sure footing. The 20 bucks is sure worth the saftey!
Looks like we're missing a good one today! Out east is getting whomped!! Our time will come....
I have a sister in northern alabama too(sand mountain) she is always trying to get us to come down there. Tells me how warm it is,and muggy and BUGZ!
I hate the cold no matter what, id rather be hot(i have a pool)than cold! I could stand to live somewhere tropical NO problemo! The snow is pretty and we need the moisture. I like to see alot of snow all winter to keep my plants covered!
I never complain about the heat-i may say its really hot today, but its always followed by "IM NOT COMPLAINING!
today i have to look at the lily co-op and finalize my order-thinking spring!
then wrap presents and take care of the Grand babez (means i wont be doing much but playing and watching sponge bob! :)
Chick I could use some of those "yak traks".
Where do you get them?
I love the changing seasons although I must admit winter is trying the last 2-3 months. I don't like being sun deprived but winter is a welcome break from the bugs, weeds and moles.
I don't think I could handle that year round.
Each changing season gives us something new to look forward to.
I think living in the south is over rated...they may have mild winters but they have ungodly hot summers.
I agree, I like the seasons, even the hot summer. (I do complain about it though)
I like not having a lot of poisen snakes, more bugs, crocs, scorpions, and stuff like that.
I am trying to find a link for you on the yak trax. (I had the spelling wrong)
They have them at sporting goods places like Dicks, Gander MT, Cabelas, Bass Pro.

This is a good price. The yak trax walker is good, but I like the extreme (which is below) for all the walking I do. It has an extra strap to keep it from coming off when walking in crusty snow.
These go on your boots in 2 seconds. They are great. I see other ones on this site too, but I like the yak trax.
cottage i meant you to mexico...enjoy every second.
Its easy to live in mexico. i stayed there for a few months
during a school class, lived in a shared apartment overlooking
the pacific ocean. it is now a dream almost.
sher
Thanks chick I plan to get some!
Sheri I knew you meant me...but maybe you better slow down on that Jack Daniels eggnog. ;o)
Hows your shoulder coming along?
I'm making a pot of beef stew and biscuits for supper.
My daughter and 3 grandkids are coming over for supper.
Baked apples for dessert.
C-R is dinner over did I miss it that sounds wonderful I hate to cook when I get home from work I'm so tired I like the changing seasons also I think I would miss them to much you always have some thing to complain about hot cold rain bugs humidity I love Mi.

Yah it was GOOD! Haven't had stew for a long time.
I know what you mean about cooking on work days.
I work 20 - 30 hours a week and when I work more hours suppers are quick n' easy fare. Good thing my DH isn't fussy, plus we eat out at least once a week.
Well good morning and i hope everyone has a great friday. we had our all employee dinner at the hospital of course the food service did all the work and hardly got to enjoy a min. of it but i enjoy doing it.. everyone else complaines all the time. it really kinda got me in the christmas mood. my son probably will not be able to come home still no response to his request the army is very slow. but he says it is 80 degrees in georgia. he is really sweating. im kinda jealous. but like others have said michigan is abeautiful state. but for the ice on the roads... the photos are pretty. love seeing them... Ronna
I'm watching the news and Darren is saying another winter storm watch is on for the weekend. Looks like the thumb area will get a lot. Not sure about us. Tawas is 4 inches. We'll see. They never get it right it seems. I think it's supposed to start Saturday evening. Glad I don't have to go anywhere. Hubby will be home by then.
He's only got one more week and then he's R-E-T-I-R-E-D !!!
Stew sounds great. I'm making a beef roast and will take the leftovers and make stew out of it.
I'm still fussing and wrapping for Christmas. Really excited this year because of the baby.
Everyone stay warm!!
Brenda
Wonder of all wonders...we were just put under a winter storm watch...4 to 6 inches heading our way...we'll see! East wind too which makes our family room a refrigerator.....brrr. Hang on everyone!
I think those winter storm watch things are so stupid.
For crying out loud, we live in Michigan and it gets cold and snows.
