Are ya'll ready for S-N-O-W?

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Yes I seen those at Walmart around here also. They really are nice my husband would eve like those they have vines in them... Hes a lover of vines. We do not have enough sun in our house for houseplants. Do poinsettias need lots of sun? Ive always kinda steered clear of them for the danger of the cats eating the leaves or berries or what ever the poisionous part is Have a great saturday Ronna.

Williamsburg, MI(Zone 4b)

Is it ok to be sick of snow already?

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Is there a medicine for that sickness?

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Ya...going to Florida until April.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

need to ask my doctor for a prescription for that medicine...wonder if insurance will cover it?

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

sarv if you are like me I have that SADD disorder.
Lack of sunshine makes your depressed.
I think winter sports helps or getting outside on sunny days.
Some people say going to the tanner 1-2 x a week helps
or your can get full spectrum light bulbs and sit by them daily
while reading or on the computer.
I dread going outside daily to take care of my chickens but once outside I feel so much better even on cloudy days.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

I kinda agree with C_R, our dog needs to be walked everyday. I kinda dreed doing it but once I get out there and get started it feels kinda good. Its not his fault he has to potty all over the city. It kinda clears your head and a little alone time. Today it was really kinda misty out. You know humid??? But cold. You know what I mean. But Max always enjoys our walks.

Sanford, MI(Zone 5a)

I love to go out and walk the dog or shovel snow or just talk to the neighbors any thing to get out side But till after deer season I just dont have the energy to move when I get home

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

We took a long walk in the woods, off trails yesterday. It was warmer, but fun with the snow. I sure was tired when I came in though.
Saw some perfect bobcat footy prints by the river. He had to have been walking around in the daytime, as it snowed in the morning.

The dog is my excuse to get out and enjoy winter. We sure have had the snow early this year. Maybe that means spring will be early.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Another gloomy day here. Looks like our friends in the southern counties have ice...Many schools closed there today. I received two seed catalogs...yippee

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

We were suppose to get ice up here. I wondered where it went. Glad it missed us.
Went walking in the woods with the dog this morning, like every morning. And saw fresh coyotes tracks. All of a sudden the dog started lunging full speed in the snow, huffing and his tail going right around in a circle he was so excited. I couldn't see anything through the thick swamp. He did come back after just a short chase. Upon inspection, all I could see were coyote tracks, so I have to assume that is what he was after.
I try to wait until at least 8:30 or so to walk him, so the preditors are done running around for the night.
He is happier when he can chase that skunk, or porcupine, but I am not. He has such a false sence of being bigger and badder. I would hate to see what a real dog (coyote) or cat (bob) would do with "sissy boy" dog.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

monday was a georgeous day here it was sunny and even kinda warm. But today is a different story sleeting and snowing. glad we only have a mile to drive to work.lots of schools closed and delays. yuck....

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Sleet junk is here today too...they are saying it will last all day!! Glad I don't have to get on the road. I'll wait until daybreak and see how things look before starting out anywhere. Stay safe everyone!

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Looks ok here, but is suppose to hit us too.
I think I will keep my bottom home and work on Christmas presents and wrapping gifts.
Maybe I will make some choc truffles, if I can keep from eating them all.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Nothing has hit here yet but they said it cometh!
I have cookies and presents i can take care of,
but I still may go shopping! I have the grand babiez tomorrow
I know i have to go early b4 they arrive to use my santa bucks at meijer!!

going to look over the forms first and dnjoy a cup of swiss white chocolate coffee, oh and check the radar!!

hey did i tell everyone My 14yr old and I are going to a concert with my Gf and her 13yr old son===KIDDDDDDDDDDDD ROCKKKKKKKKKK! i wanna be a cowboy!

AuGres, MI(Zone 5b)

Kid Rock?? Are you excited? I'm not sure who that is. Guess I'm older than Methusala. Wear your ear plugs so you don't come out deaf OK?

When I went to let the dogs out this morning it was starting to snow hard. I donned my coat over my long flannel nightgown and in my houseslippers I rolled two big garbage cans down the long cement driveway. It was snowing so fast that my footprints were filled in when I went to walk back up the driveway to the house!

God knew what he was doing when he didn't answer my prayers for a baby girl when I was pregnant 31 years ago. He sent me a son instead. He KNEW someday he'd come in handy for me and he has! He came over and got the tractor out and scraped the driveway for me. I shoveled by the back door and pitched some icy melt out since it is SLICK! It had turned into a misty rain.

I was supposed to go to my garden club Christmas party today but someone called to tell me it was cancelled. I'm glad. I really wanted to go but was afraid to venture out in this stuff. I hope they can reschedule it. Good thing I hadn't made my dish to pass yet. :)

I'm buying my son snow tires for his work van. I got my daughter in law a windshield for her van. Nice Christmas presents eh? Might as well get them something they really need. Of course they'll have a little something to open on Christmas day. The baby will have the most to open though. I kind of went overboard on her. ha ha ha Christmas is so much fun with a baby in the family again.

I helped my daughter in law put up their tree yesterday. I gave them all my Christmas decorations and ornaments. I don't have room in this tiny house for a big tree any more so I passed them on. It was soooooooooooo much fun looking at all my old ornaments. I haven't seen them in years. My favorites are the ones of my son sitting on Santa's lap every year from age 11 months till ten years old. :) I made them all into ceramic ornaments. Now "my baby" has a baby. Isn't life great? I love being grandma.

Now, if I can only learn how to bake cookies I'll be the perfect grandma. I am the worlds lousiest baker. I tried to make thumbprint cookies one year and they came out looking more like birds nests........overdone on the outside and raw in the middle. ha ha ha. I got to where I'd go to a bakery and spend a lot buying different cookies and pass them off as ones I'd baked. ha ha ha But now I really want to learn how to bake with my little granddaughter. I want to make a gingerbread house with her maybe next year and let her decorate it.

I think I'll make some sugar free cocoa. I have to finish wrapping gifts too. I'm not getting dressed. I'm still in the long flannel gown and it feels good. Not going anywhere. :)

Nice to be able to come here and chat with you all.

Stay warm,

Brenda

Melvindale, MI(Zone 5a)

Well looks like we lucked out on the weather here. So far just rain, no freezing. I am so glad about that. It is actually warm feeling outside. No wind just lousy grey skies.

Kid Rock I think is from down around here in my area. I think maybe Taylor, Mi.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Wow, I am tierd just reading all you have done today. LOL
Snow is coming down pretty good. Got over an inch so far.
I finished up a couple of projects for presents. Glad to have that out of the way. I only have a couple more easy things to make.
Hot choc sounds good, but mine is not sugar or fat free. I even sometimes put a little molasis in, to make it even richer. Am I bad?

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Oh yeah, I even know who kid rock is.
DD loves him. I do kind of like the cowboy song.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

I did get dressed this morning, but that is about all! I made a mini cheese ball for lunch..not sure if the recipe is a keeper. I keep taking one cracker and then another and another...LOL

Loon, make a gingerbread house using graham cracker and frosting!! Works and is real easy. You have to use some kind of hard icing that sticks things together though. I can't bake worth a toot either...plus if I make things, I just pig them down and I certainly don't need that! I buy those frozen pkgs of cookies and keep them in the freezer. Get out a few at a time and bake them in the toaster oven....works for me...and they are good!

Weather seems melty here. I could have gone out...but decided to stay in. Just a do nothing kinda day here...I need a good book

Sanford, MI(Zone 5a)

Its snowing big goose fethers here now so pretty to look at but I'm sure glade I don't have to go to work today I hope tomarrow will be better I have to go to work then have a nice day hot chocolate sounds good to me LOL

Gloria

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Cottage, we posted at the same time.

The beach wedding sounds really romantic. Hope your burn feels better, just go out and put some snow on it. LOL

We went to Cancun about 10 years ago. It was wonderful. (cheap too) the food is great. Watch for things made with water. Some ice tea did me in the last day of the trip. Everyone knows not to drink the water, and use it for toothbrushing, but I was stupid to think they would use filtered water for the tea.

We got about 6" of new snow yesterday. How about everyone else?

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Why did you post that link??? It looks beautiful... Very inviting. Have a wonderful time.. JEALOUS> Your son is lucky to be getting married there to Im sure a georgeous (sp) bride. Ronna

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

cpartschick...yup I won't be drinking the water and plan to find out what they do in the resort we are staying at as far as water filtration.
I DO NOT want to be sitting on a toilet the whole time I'm down there.
They say to only drink bottled water, eat thoroughly cooked food and only eat fruit you peel yourself. Too bad one has to use so many precautions when going to Mexico.
I'm going to get a Hepatitis A shot after I get over this cold. You're suppose to have 2 shots 6 months apart but my doc says even one shot will give you some protection. I know my brother had stomach problems for a month after his trip to Mexico.

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Wasn't trying to put a damper on your trip, but it is good to be prepared. We... all of us that have to stay in this snow while you are on the beach with crystal clear waters and sunshine, want to have a little vacation through you. We want you outside taking pictures, not inside seeing how the bathroom is decorated.

Cedar Springs, MI(Zone 5b)

Oh you didn't put a damper on anything sweetie!
I knew about all this before. ;o)

AuGres, MI(Zone 5b)

WOW, I want to go to Mexico too!! I hope you have a wonderful time. Take lots of pictures to share with us. We'll be ready for some warm weather photos by then. :)

We got at least 6 inches of snow or more. The sun is out nice and bright now but it's cold so I don't look for much to melt.

That's a great idea about using graham crackers for the gingerbread house!! Why didn't I think of that? Ha ha ha I did make the gingerbread house with my son when he was little but had to throw the first batch out since I failed to cut it when it was warm. When it cooled it was like cement so we had to start all over again. I do have home movies of my son showing it off though. :) He was proud of it. I had a best friend who was like Betty Crocker...........hard to compete with.

I'm going to venture out to go to town. I hope the roads are cleared up and salted by now.

Brenda

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Hubby said the roads were all plowed nicely for his hour commute to work.
I wanted to add this snow picture here. (I posted in the photo sections, but thought it might be good for this thread too)
This is from this morning, the sun coming up over the swamp gives a spotlight effect. Not a mexican beach, but pretty all the same.

Sun is out here and I just got back from shopping. It is gorgeous out, but cold. Came home to a house that is 59 deg inside...brrr. Fired up the woodstove and it will be toasty in half an hour. Bought a couple more gifts...almost done! Sure is a good feeling!

I've never been to Mexico..(my feet don't leave the ground!!) but I'll be thinking of you lounging in the sand and surf while we shovel snow!! yuck..
