Happy Birthday VW!
Water Cooler 2
Victor's married to a Volkswagon?!
Happy birthday Mrs. Victor.
Well she does bug me. Thank you.
How sweet!
Happy Birthday Mrs. Gardener. Does she ever look here?
Thank you Candyce - I'll show her tomorrow. Thanks Al. I often ask that same question.
Victor - happy birthday to your wife. Hope she is having a wonderful day or should I say "not" since she is not home with her men!! Eleanor
Thanks Eleanor!
Does Mrs. Victor garden?
Never.
really?
why?
Yes - zero interest. Occasional appreciation of it.
She just has no interest in it.
Just an occasional interest? From the photos you post, I would be admiring it all day.
bummer, bro...
Thank you. She is from the Bronx though.
Doesn't bother me much. Nobody to question my choices, designs, etc.
is that a good thing or a bad thing ?
I was thinking that.
I used to get comments like you're taking over the back yard, and there's no room left for the dogs, but now I get - it's really nice, and cool hummingbirds,...
works for me...
Similar here. She thought I was overdoing it and not leaving enough play areas for the kids. She likes the butterflies, hummers and is finally starting to actually relax next to the pond once in a while. Progress.
Happy Birthday (G)TO YU(GO), VW!
My DH is not too interested either, but he has a nice lawn to mow and that keeps him happy. When I expand I go into uncharted territory (mainly the poison ivy patches) He is getting better and helped me clear out the ditch lilies at the back of our yard cause I told him we'd have less snakes in our grass. That was the truth - didn't see any this year!! I got him a chipper to help me clear out down below the bank at the back of our yard which is on the canal and he was having fun using it. That area has had years of leaves and grass clippings on it so I'm hoping it will make a good garden. It grows great poison ivy. He has a friend who runs a landscaping business and green house and his friend told him what a nice job I had done with the gardens so that helped a lot!! Eleanor
My DH is very interested in the gardens. In fact, he wishes he could help me more. He helps me plan and lately is picking out plants. He watches the garden shows on TV and reads my garden mags and finds things he likes. Hasn't complained once about the umpteen dishes of seeds drying on every flat surface in the house because he's seen what grew from seed last season and was thrilled.
He hasn't been able to get out and see the gardens up close and personal, but I take lots of pics and bring flowers in. He just got a power wheelchair but we haven't been able to get a ramp built yet. It's a long story, but it took all summer to get this far. He's so disappointed that he hasn't been able to get outside. He has binoculars, but that's not much fun.
Hopefully he will be able to soon, Jan. My best to him. I'm sure it will do wonders for his spirits!
Good for both of you Jan.
I went to HD yesterday and all the plants they had left were 75% off. So I went back today with my neighbor and his station wagon and bought two Harry Laudner Walking Sticks - contorted filberts. I think they will have to stay in the pots this winter. Do you think I can overwinter them on a south facing wall of my house in a big pile of straw? I don't think that I have enough room to bring them inside.

Hey! I'm from The Bronx too! ...So what if I have a 9 mil in my waistband when I plant Tulips! Some habits are hard to give up! ☺
Very funny! Very! My dad was from the Bronx, too.
AYC - I haven't the slightest idea but someone has to know the answer!
Jan - it is wonderful that your DH shares your joy of gardening. I hope that he will be able to get outside soon so that next season he can enjoy the garden up close. Eleanor
Jan - your DH sounds like a great guy! Hope he is able to join you in your garden very soon!
ooh boy - more contorted filberts!
Jan:
Perhaps all us us with carpentry skills could come to your place and install a ramp next spring? What would it take for us to do this?
I have tools!
I have no skills or tools woth mentioning, but I would help.
Amy, Filburts??
