It's time to vote for the winners of the 2007 photo contest!

I think a lot of people enjoy looking at all the pictures, and I also think there would be a lot of people who would be upset over the idea of a select group of people making decisions over which pics are better rather than the membership at large. Maybe if there's a big concern for people on dialup or with really limited time to look at pics, Dave could consider having 2 rounds of voting--in the first round, you look at all the pictures, and the top 10-20 or so in each category move on to the next round. Then in the second round, you pick from those top 10-20 to select the winners in each category. People who want to see all the pics can vote in both rounds, but people with slow connections or less time can wait until the 2nd round.

I didn't give my comment lots of thought and don't worry Wuvie I don't take things personally. I was just commenting on how it might be streamlined to allow lots of entries. I like ecranes idea of 2 waves of photos. Like I mentioned I really enjoyed looking at all the photos. I have been into photography almost as long as gardening and did judge the photos not only on what I liked but on the ones that were photographed the best. Based on my years of taking photos, ribbons I have won, and shows I have attended. I am no pro, still just an amateur. You can take a great photo with an expensive camera if you have the skill! And sometimes even if you don't know what you are doing you can get one just by accident. I do look forward to entering in the coming years. I was thrilled to see one of my "accidents" was a runner up!

ecrane, I like your idea a lot. It was hard trying to pick three out of so many. But I did so much enjoy looking at EVERY picture!

and my other two cents.............i would like to see a straight-up people category. there were several people photos, esp. in the fruits and vegetables that i really liked. but i would like to see children and "old" people judged separately. and maybe a category for "photo tricks" ........not sure what i mean exactly but a category where creativity could reign........anything goes, sort of.

and last..........i wish that the photos could all stay in daves and after the contest i would like to see who the photographers were on my favorites in case they didn't make it to the finals.

mamajack, all the photos and the names of the photographers do stay on Dave's. If you check the 'Extras' tab from your Home page, you can see all the past years Photos contests as well.

sue, are you saying that i can go look at this year's photos somewhere and find out who the photographer was right now? i have just got to know who took the photo of the bee who had pollen all over his face and his hands and just everywhere. he was absolutely oblivious to bee colony collapse and the queen and everything important to him. i just wanted to pet him and hold him and tell him how cute he was until he fell asleep.

I discovered the past years contests before I entered in this years. DG is such a wonderful site. I keep finding new things all the time. You can click on the members name and it will take you to their page. Some have their webshots, flickr or webpages linked there. Love it!

mamajack, yes, you can find this years in the Extras tab as well as a link Dave provided on this Forum and on your home page as well. In each category you can see the top three winners and now the runner ups and if you scroll down to the bottom of each categories winning images, there is the clickable link to view all the entries.

That picture caught my eye, too, mamajack. Loved it.
