Still glowing from time well spent. Not a wasted minute.
Let's get together
Oh LouC those photos are just wonderful ...the joy spilling out of each and every dear face, you never mentioned how beautiful you are!
So lovely to see all that happiness and I think Randy is "the bomb" for being such a wonderful host!
Hi 77 ! darling lovely to see you getting about with your friends that pretty smile ...all those smiles!
Thankyou so much for letting me peep LouC :)
Hugs to each and everyone! :)
chrissy
oh..that picture of the September Rose reminded me Christi....seeds..I'll send you some seeds of those. You won't believe that I dumped about 1000 of them right before you got there when I cut the front strip down. I still have a couple plants there still...and I probably will find some pods scattered around there too...Plus I'm sure I have some saved from last year too!
I know what you mean, I was completely exausted last night and slept in today. I think our adrenelan really was going ! I found it strange cause I can work in the garden all day hauling heavy stuff around and not feel that tired!
Here is sept rose
We had a great time! Wish you could have been here too Chrissy!

Beautiful Rj are you recovering from all of the excitment? your home and garden is fabulous ...what would the September Rose be called? the hibiscus are my favourite ...red. better have a rest today :)
Yes 77 it would have been wonderful to give everyone a hug in real life instead of a cyber one ...but here it is anyway ((((HUGS))))
Yes, we did talk about you, we all wished you here...someday!
Yes, the September Rose is a hibiscus...they do best here in September. In theory they die back every year and grow anew from seed....but here...they keep going.
That is Jeremy that works at the zoo. The article about plant addictions.
So wish you could have been there Chrissy. Someday, someday...
Hi, everyone.
When I heard that Shari was coming to Texas, I went on the internet to find an airline ticket to Houston. Then, I came to my senses even though my wife told me to go, go, go. Remorse has set in as I saw those pictures of so many people I could have met in person. You all look so happy. I missed a wonderful day for the sake of a few hundred dollars. Lord knows I have spent more money on less interesting things before without remorse. Next time, I won't let logic get the better of me. I'm not a vulcan, after all.
Nonetheless, I am very glad you had such a good time.
Take care.
Sylvain.
Oh Sylvain, I'm so sorry we missed your company. Can't say we can include Shari anytime soon because they come to the states only every 2-3 years. We will just have to get our thing going. Mike and I picked Shari and JB up at Bush/Intercontinental. It is a lot closer to DFW for us as Houston was only 228 miles from our home to the airport. But that was lot closer than Kwajlein.
Working on a plan.
Christi
Oh darn I thought that I had stumbled upon Rj's secret to having huge plants ...psssst just between you and I ...I thought he was nicking the Elephant poo! ha ha ha oh well it was a nice try.
One day indeed ...this little sheila has never set foot on a plane ...but you never know!
Happy gardening everyone!
Oh Chrissy, If your plants were any larger they would reach the moon. Randy does have all of his secrets listed on his journal. As expected, not a secret, just hard work.
Christi
Have really missed your pictures. Where are you these days?
Oh I had an accident and have taken it a bit quietly for a bit as it effected my balance (dizzy) being smacked in the head by a branch can do that ...for the last few days rain ...rain ...rain so everything is a little bedraggled back with pics as soon as the sun shines again (at least the drought is over for now) :)
I had read about the branch hitting your ear. So sorry that it is still giving you trouble. have you seen a doctor?
Well here is the good news Sylvain..There are more fun days to be organized in the future! I think my place is becoming a meeting of the DG friends location...and how rewarding it has been! I wouldn't trade any of the last year for anything.
Chrissy, it's like I've always said..when I see your pictures..it reminds me very much of my garden. I wish I had as much space as you did, but I know if I was ever in your garden I would be quite at home! Nicking the elephant poo...LOL....the poo in the boot (trunk) story is is resurfacing!
I did have some botanical exposure in W. Africa...and that was a wonderful place to observe plants...I was building gardens and ponds when I was 15 over there.
Randy has a story to tell. Will wait until he is ready.
Next time try the Vulcan mind meld, Sylvain, it works!
Live long and Prosper!
RJ's going to "talk story", can't wait!
Aloha!
That's what happens when reason takes over fantasy: you miss fun events. Darn! The same thing happened on the day we were scheduled to leave Honolulu. I just plain and simple did not want to leave that day. I told Gail let's call the airline and tell them we're leaving next Saturday. We love this place, we have a wonderful hotel, a rented car, all the time in the world and we can afford it. What a fool I have been to consult with her. We were on that plain like clockwork. The other day, she told me: "We should have stayed that extra week!". I was so mad. Next time, I won't check with her.
We'll be in Rome next May when we disembark our cruise. We are NOT flying across the ponds back home straight off the ship. As long as we are there, I want to board another ship and go to Greece and Turkey.
Oh, BTW, RJ... our May cruise takes us to Dakkar, Senegal. That's West Africa. Is that anywhere near where you were?
I am in a waterlilly mood this morning so here's a few pictures taken last May.
Take care, all.
Sylvain.
Thanks for your pictures, Sylvain. With everything going dormant in my garden, I need to see that all is not brown. It was 40 degrees this morning. Not terrible but enough to know we will soon be 30.
No,no yawning. Told you before there is no limit. Keep 'em coming.
Bravo!
Oh beautiful !
So exotic do they have a perfume? when I was a teenager I wore "Lotus" a really delicious fragrance until they stopped stocking it ...sad to say have never sniffed the real thing :)
Hope Rj tells us of his African adventures ...everything at that age has a huge influence on your life it would explain his love of "jungle"
as another "jungle" lover I would love to hear the story.
LouC and everyone I hope you are all still floating on the happy cloud :)
aahah...Chrissy...I think they're referring to Poo in the trunk...and for that, I turn the floor over to you!! I believe that is your story!!!! heheheh..
Ah, Sylvain, your going to Dakar??? how lucky. Yes, I was in Banjul, The Gambia, which happens to be completely surrounded by Senegal, except for the coast, it's an odd arrangement as far as countries go. I would usually drive to Dakar to leave W.Africa as it was more convenient with flight schedules. At the time, I think there was one flight that left The Gambia per week to London. When you look at the map, check out the peanut sized country that exists in the center of Senegal. It would make sense if the countries somehow merged.
Previous to The Gambia, I lived in Monrovia, Liberia before the civil war broke out.
No Rj it was said you lived in Africa for a while ....Or I m I still a bit "funny from getting a whack in the head" ...I mean't the story of experiences there in that beautiful land. Most of those lotus came from there didn't they? ...the "Sacred Lotus" being my favourite even though I haven't seen a real one.
I know..but a ways up the thead, thought they might be talking about the elephant poo, and my return comment on the trunk..
I do have some stories to tell. Our family became honorary tribe members of the Basa tribe near Sanequelli W. Africa. The roads up country to the bush were wretched at the time resembling dry river beds. Many accidents happend on that road. One day my Step Dad came upon a frightful wreck and being a man of action, pulled this large lady out of the car. She had a broken leg, and would have bled to death had my Dad not acted quickly at the scene. She turned out to be Glee Dawn, the daughter of a big Chief, in the area. After she was feeling better and healing, the Chief held a huge celebration, where a ceremony was conducted, making our family honorary members of the tribe. I can remember some of the food ...were things we don't normally think about eating...some of it still had hair on it...well..you know how kids are when it comes to that!. They had these tribal outfits made for us with the hats and shoes...there are pictures of that somewhere...probably at Dad's house.
Hello everyone! I'm just on for a moment, but want to add my incredulous joy at what a wonderful day we had in Houston. My husband has decided that DG folks must be a special type of human, how else to describe these folks from totally different worlds having such a lovely, fun day, filled with warmth and truly feeling as if we'd known each other forever! No words exist to express my gratitude to Mike and Christi for the trip from Dallas to pick us up, and share those very special hugs...to Randy for being such a marvelous host, to Jeanne and her son. Thank you all...I am undone.
It was great that we had the opportunity!
Now remember..if anything happens with your flight schedule coming back through Houston..you know to call me ...right?
rj
Oh my. Have been outside and missed Shari. Maybe she will be back on soon.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/790716/
Trying to get a feel for a DG Convention.
We need you to give your two cents, please.
It was much warmer here today..how about there?
Shari was on daughters computer and didn't have too much time it sounded like.
Hasn't been above 60. About 43 when I got up. Haven't heard tomorrow's prediction yet. Been pretty windy. Not exactly comfortable.
It was back up in the 70's today , and up to the 80's again tomorrow
It's been absolutely beautiful!!!!!! Wonderfull time to spend in the garden and reminisce on times past....even if it was only two days ago! LOL!
Love the poo story Chrissy! My 9 year old granddaughter still says "Cra-zeey Chrissy"!!!!!!!! :0) Brings a smile to my face every time I think about it!!!!!!!
I bet Randy has LOTS of stories he could tell from his life's travels!!!!! That is a wonderful story Randy! It's always good to be considered to be part of the tribe!!!!!
He and Shari are both World Travellers!!!!!!! That is soooo wonderfull and I would love to hear all of the stories about "Faraway Places".....hmmmmm was that.....Bing Crosby??? Boy....don't know where that came from.......(Actuall it was google....I was incorrect on my first guess....LOL)
I bet Shari has lots of stories to tell as well!!!!!!!!! It was so good to visit with everyone! We really enjoyed our time together! It was way too short!
Ha ha ha I feel kinda lonely way down here, but thanks to LouC it was sort of like being there! you all looked so delighted and happy with your day ...fancy meeting a true life Wilbur Smith character like Rj not only meeting him but being a guest in his Jungle hideaway!
More adventures please!
Have a great weekend everyone it's Saturday arvo ...almost three.
So that means your weekend is ahead of you ...have fun
chrissy :)
Chrissy, don't be lonely, we still love you! We sure wish you could have been here too! It would be so great to see you! If you do ever decide to get on a plane and come to the states, you are certainly welcome here!
Have you ever been on a cruise? Do I remember you saying that you were born and raised in Australia?
I have travelled some, but only was to Canada as an infant....so obviously don't remember it, and other than that I've only been down to the very northern tip of Mexico for all of maybe a couple of hours max., so haven't really seen much of it!
That is one reason that I really do love DG as you can see so many pictures of other places, and talk to other people from those "Far Away Places"!!!!!
