Shari is an orchid expert. Maybe she can ID.
Let's get together
Randy, that is absolutley gorgeous! WOW! Fantastic! Very exotic!......
If you ever have enough to divide....I want to be first in line! LOL!
Wonderful!
It is actually pretty full in the pot
Oooooooh Randy, my favorite Houstonian, pleeease, Darlin......
Rjuddharison, that butterfly was photographed at Butterfly World and it was feeding on cut-up bananas. We live in a condo and I would never be allowed to leave out cut-up fruit for the butterflies. I would be getting threating lawyer's letters in no time flat. I'm lucky enough to be allowed to garden on common property because it benefits the whole community, I wouldn't push my luck that far.
The orchid is so beautiful. You must be very proud. I love it.
I may post a few pictures later on. Now, I have to get ready for a physical this morning.
Be good, all.
Sylvain.
Hope all is well.

On a trip to Costa Rica we noticed rotting bananas and other fruit everywhere, even restaurants would put them on low walls within view of the tables.
Hey guys...atthe airport in Auckland wating for the 8 hour flight to Honolulyu....using a horrible keyboard!!!Can't wait to be home...but I will miss this lovely place....and will post photos!!!
Carol, you are headed home and Shari left yesterday to come to the continental states. I know you will see her in about 3 weeks. We are meeting in Houston on Wednesday. Hope you had a restful trip. No, more like a stimulating trip.
Christi
Thanks Sylvain.,
We use to leave fruit out in Liberia for the butterflies..there sure are some incredible looking ones.
That looks something like a torch ginger, but not sure.
Hey Carol, that means I can ship you that clero as your going to be back.
Sylvain, Beautiful butters! I hope you won that alligator fight, I understand they make terrific boots.
Rj, Jeanne. Thinking I would be ready for Wednesday, I potted the root beer plant and a sedum that is just too pretty. As I looked them over, thought it would be terrible should they have any kind of bug. Meself thinks I had better be sure that they are sterile. Go to my stash to get some sort of bug spray. Find something and just spray, spray. Look at the bottle...Oh my gosh...It is RoundUp.
To be continund...
ooh...bummer...if you wash it off with water..
I have a quarantine area for all new arrivals.
Yes, I thought bromeliad at first too.
Oh no, Christi! Poor thing! Bless your heart! I'm with Randy, maybe if you wash them off with a soap and water mixture. Hopefully they'll be OK!
Jeanne
Rinsing them off is good advice but I think I'd repot it too just to be save. Good luck!
Repotting them is an excellent idea Zany...good thing you thought of that! Thanks!
Did that this morning. So far..so good. Usually by now the leaves would be wilting if the roundup had taken. I washed it immediately. Just another string of stupids in this weeks episodes. Remember? Lucy.

Bless your heart! Do try to get some rest in the midst of all of the preparation for the long trip. Take care of yourself.
Really, reallly excited about meeting everyone. The Arlington RU was just a taste of what is to come. Guess Shari is in Brownsville with her parents by now.
Talk about a long trip... She said when she was leaving Kwaj that they would land in Hawaii before they left. hahaha. Talk about a time warp. Can't see how she and JB can be anything but exhausted the whole time they are gone from home. No way to acclimate to those extreme time changes. Wednesday is coming up, guys.
Yes ut us! Looking forward to it!
Just got up and still pretty tired. Will fill in the details later after coffee. The excursion to Houston to meet Shari, JB, Randy, Jeanne and Chris was beyond great.
Christi
Oh Goody! Someone is still out there. Christi, I can't wait to hear about your meeting Shari and all these other gardeners.
Here's another butterfly. Ain't he pretty?
Sylvain.
Lovely butterfly Sylvain!
Good morning Christi! So glad to know that you are home safe and sound!
I'm going for the coffee as well. Be back later!
Jeanne
I'm too tired to even have a brain. will probably start another thread later today and post pictures.
Aloha! I'm here - 6 am for us! Pretty butterflies to wake up to, even though my eyes are not quite open yet....
We are all dying to hear of the "great meeting", but we will let you get your coffee Christi, you certainly must be tired - that was a long journey, glad you are home safely.
Can't wait to hear more details about the Texas RU!
Coffee is on but I'm not yet. hahaha
Mike drove over 600 miles yesterday. The high anticipation and lots of pure adrenalin has left us drained. Besides, we aren't as young as we used to be.
Houston and back in a day was all in a day's work....25 years ago.
will check in later for sure....(know I keep saying that and can't seem to leave "my family"). Just like a kid..afraid I might miss something. Shari is all undone because she hasn't been on-line in a week. Haven't read it yet but the article yesterday was hers. She wanted to know if it had been posted yet.
At that time I hadn't read anything either.
Hi.
Are those hollyhocks? I love them. We always had them at home when I was a kid. I planted some in my garden the first year I started gardening. They would routinely grow to 16 feet high. Then, one year, winter was particularly harsh and they didn't survive: pity!
Sylvain.
Hi Sylvain,
Yes they are hollhocks, they seed themselves around the garden. I use them as supports for the morning glory, they seem to like each other!
OOOH! I just love seeing happy gatherings! It looks like a great group of people got to share some wonderful time together. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Those trinkets are wonderful. The turtle looks really cool.
