lou, except for the mountain lion that was us just 3 yrs. ago. may desoto remain "wild" forever. bronc, congratulations on your runner-up photo.
North Texas Roundup plant ID thread.
Huh?
We have rabbits too. Don't know where they live, but a couple of years ago they moved somewhere in our neighborhood. Every night we see them out in front yards for evening silflay.
We are so urban--it always surprises me what wildlife we've seen. We've had possums, armadillos, rabbits, rats (ugh), and several big snakes. After many years with no frogs, we finally saw a lot of those this summer.
Yes Bronc, is it the one of your little girl.
LOL.... What TJ?
Barbara~ I have a pack of white Landino Clover if you want to spread some of that in a spot, Maybe something else if I dig through my seeds.
I love clovers! Love to share them too. You can buy a pound of seed for about $6-7.. Crimson or Landino make a nice healthy "no mow" cover for the ground.
I found some info on what your asking under "Discussion" on this page:

Will send ya a pack to try out..

Sylvia@Work
Thanks Deb & Sylvia@work!
bronc, are you telling us that you didn't even know about your picture? men!! lol.
I don't know why, but the fifth pic, TJ's is blank. Everyone else's is there. Anyone else having that problem?
Sheila if you click on the link I put up six posts up it shows fine on my computer.
That is the link I am using. Not sure what is going on. It skips from the owl to the Church/graveyard pic. ....But I used the link at the bottom of that page to go the the entire list and was able to find it. Good job TJ, she is adorable too.
Thanks Sheila!
TJ... I really am at work. :)
Sylvia @ work
Me too!
You two better get busy! LOL!
debnes, do you think i could plant that clover in the iris patch? is it very invasive?
It makes a nice ground cover around other plants bc the roots are fairly shallow compared to Irises. It encourages healthy organisms in the soil. This one doesn't get very invasive at all from my experience here, and its easy to till out.
Just try a little in a space and see, i germinates and makes cover in less than 1 month.
It's coming your way. :-)
debnes
well thank you. and deb, you wouldn't have any goat's rue seeds, would you? jackieshar is the only one i know who even has this plant but i don't think she got seeds this year and this plant appears to do poorly by trying to transplant it. i am talking about Tephrosa virginica...the one with pink and yellow flowers.
so you think i could grow this clover in with the iris? that would be great because i have nothing in the iris patch but iris and it's hard to keep it weeded due to the size of it.
Can this clover be planted where there is grass? I want something to take over where the grass is and remain a low grower.
Yes Syl, but you probably need to pluck out any grass you can as it goes. It gets no more than 5-6" high, and the trilobal leaves are 1" across. It will cover any bare ground you give it.

In this area I tilled the soil loose and sprinkled seed, it came up nice and even.
aawwww what a beautiful picture and a sweet looking pup. Deb that is awesome, but would it survive in the sun? I want it foe out front. I am tired of paying people to mow the grass. Its St Augustine grass out there.
i love your pup and i think i would like that clover. it's a win/win for me and the rabbits.
DOES ANYONE HAVE any goat's rue seeds....the pink and yellow flower?
Barbara, i don't have the goat's rue, Jackie sent me some seed one year, but it didn't germinate, so i can't help you with that.
i have to have some goat's rue. i just love those little flowers. lmk if anyone hears where i might get it.
jackie sent me some plants last year. they are difficult to transplant apparently. anyway, most of the clump died but one little plant made it through. when i took it out of the pot it was in to transplant it that apparently killed it. i wish i had put them directly in the ground.
Now you've got my curiosity going, Barbara. Can I see it on Plant Finder?
http://www.easywildflowers.com/quality/tep.virgi.htm
see if that gets it. you're going to want it too. lol.
Here are Jackie's pictures on the plant files; very pretty.

Hey Barbara~
That company is amazing! They send a generous amount of seeds. John is very trusting and will send you the seeds right out. You can mail him a check after you get them. Just email him and tell him what you want.
debnes
duh? deb, i was going "which company". then i realized you meant the one from the link i sent. lol. and that just might be what i do. thanks for the heads up on them.
and josephine...it's supposed to grow in texas naturally. have you ever seen it anywhere?
No Barbara I sure haven't, I guess i haven't been to the right places.
I have never seen them do that, but I have seen other plants do it. Sometimes when the temperature changes that happens to some plants, keep an eye on them, but i think they will be fine.
Another, the same way. Notice the gifts I receive anually from my considerate neighbor. I wish he would just mow his thistle a couple of times a year so it wouldn't reseed and we could get rid of it for good. Is that too much to ask?!?
Josephine, one good thing is that none have lost any leaves and the leaves still have life in them. I mean they don't crack and crumble.
Quite sure it is too late but maybe...just found my buckeye seed that I got at the RU in October. It was in a basket on my desk. Probably too late to plant?
Christi
I think it will be fine Christi, be sure to keep it moist.
Is it red Buckeye? or Mexican Buckeye.
