There is water falling from the sky in Norfolk,Va!!!!!!!! All the plants are jumping for joy! It has been months since the last rain fall.......not as bad as some places but we had a 14" deficit in rain fall this year so far.....maybe we won't go to water restriction after all....I was so happy to see the rain thought I would share it
Beckie
What's the wet stuff???
Beckie, you want rain, I wish I could send you some, here in Scotland UK, we have has rain, rain OHHHHHHH and more rain, I only managed two trusses of red tomato's and half dozen green trusses due to the rain, lack of sun and cold and I grow these in a greenhouse, this has been the coldest, wettest darkest summer that I can remember, but so glad the rain has came your way, enjoy and be happy for your plants. Happy gardening, WeeNel.
You can water --but there is nothing like a nice natural rainfall for the plants. I have huge buckets by my downspouts to catch the rain and I use it to water, a few days later. I am glad to hear you got some needed rain!
WeeNel,
Sooooo sorry to hear about your tomato's.....maybe your rain will slack off and you can save some of them....we really did need the rain...we weren't as bad as our neighbors farther south though. In parts of Georgia they have lakes that have all but dried up....maybe you can send some of your rain to them as we will be getting it for the next couple of days!!!
thanks for the tip soapwort243!!! I'll gather up some buckets today and fill w/ rain. can it be used for indoor plants also?
Finally rain here too. We were running way behind this year. Nel, I hope the weather moderates for y ou soon. BTW my wife is an Edinburgh lass.
Hi Chrissy, good to hear from you again, I've not been doing the site for a good few weeks as much as before, been unwell but getting back to things again, I have started to put my garden to sleep for the winter as it was all flattened by the heavy rain we had, tomato's now on the compost heap as there is no chance of fruit now it is too cold and the days already short, we change our clocks back an hour this Sunday, had to start tidy up as our leaves are already 2/3 inch thick on the ground, hope you and your are all well< missed you lots, take good care. WeeNel.
Oh please daylight savings ....we go forward into the loooooong hooooot! days of summer .......make sure you put some bright happy yellow things around the house to keep you from feeling low.
s.a.d. is a kind of depression people come down with from lack of sunshine.....so make sure that when the the sun does come out you drop everything and get out there for 10/15 minutes every day.We too have had a fierce storm last night and the usual flooding and damage.I can relate to lots of things laying flat....it's a pain but at least the bushfires are out now........so for everyone who needs the rain .....hope you get it....and those who need a little sun .....hope you get that too.........may you get as much of those things as you need ,good on you beckie!
chrissy :)
