Our favorite TV show

Silsbee, TX(Zone 9a)

Ok, I've got to start a thread on manners so this one will stay on topic.

Phoenix, AZ

My great grandfather was a "stickler" for good manners. If we leaned on our elbow at a the table he'd whack our elbow with the blunt side of a dinner knife. It did that once. Just once and I'll never lean on the table again.

Peter Gunn

(Zone 7a)

Hey, Heather, it's The Equalizer.

Here's the thread for manners http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/788671/

Yow, about the dinner knife!

Yep, it's the Equalizer. That name alone still makes me laugh. Sorry, I really do have a pick on this show. Moving on....

Mick Jagger lips and the bald head that every man desires. What a pair!

Too easy. Alien Nation.

Lubbock, TX(Zone 7a)

What about 'V' any one remember that one? Where the aliens ate mice? Ugh!

(Zone 7a)

Wasn't Marc Singer in that one?

Silsbee, TX(Zone 9a)

I give up. I tried. Y'all are too TV smart for me.

But, there is a show that I cannot remember the name of and it's driving me crazy. I know it was on around '87-'88. It was about the Viet Nam war. I can picture the guys that were in it, but I can't remember any of their names. I'm pretty sure the theme song was "Paint It Black". I supposed I could google for it, but this is more fun! Anyone have any clue?

Venice, CA(Zone 10a)

Hey Guys; The best TV show during the 1960's was "The Prisoner" starring Patrick McGoohan. Also don't forget "The Illustrated Man" starring Rod Steiger. If you like Horror you should rent "Closetland" co-produced by Ron Howard.(This is Not a date movie!)

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

heathrjoy...I believe you're thinking of China Beach...with Dana Delaney and Marg Helgenberger...

Silsbee, TX(Zone 9a)

Nope, not China Beach. Dana Delaney wasn't in it, I would have remembered her. There weren't any women in this show that I can recall, it was all men.

Wow! The memories you are bringing back! A question for you...does anyone remember the old radio shows from early 50's or so? Like Gunsmoke, Johnny Dollar, the Shadow, or of course...Amos & Andy? Or am I telling my age?

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

I remember Amos and Andy and also Gunsmoke on radio during the 50's. I went to visit my grandparents in New Orleans for a few days. Gunsmoke came on at noon on Saturday and my grandfather would listen while he sat at the table eating cornbread in his buttermilk--an old southern delicacy! (of which I never partook--yuck!)
and BTW, jsxtiger, since we are telling our ages by admitting to this, do you remember listening to the "Fibber McGee and Molly" show? What a hoot, especially when Fibber opened that closet door and everything fell out! LOL

Silsbee, TX(Zone 9a)

Telling your age, LOL! I'll tell my age by saying I'm too young. However, I love radio shows. I'd rather listen to a radio show than watch TV, you get to use your imagination, and they were always so creative.

(jax) Dundalk, MD(Zone 7a)

You are right! I forgot about Fibber McGee! And you are right about the opportunities to excercise your imagination. I cannot vision kids now days..sitting around the radio....captivated by what they were hearing!

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

Inner Sanctum. crrrrrrrrreeeeaaaaak...

Silsbee, TX(Zone 9a)

I had an English teacher in high school who brought in tapes of old radio shows and played them for us. Some of the kids thought it was boring, but I loved it.

Isabella, MO(Zone 6b)

For anyone who is interested, the Cracker Barrel restaurants and gift shops have old radio shows on tape.

Weatherford, TX

heathrjoy, that show you were talking about may have been 'Tour of Duty' starring Terrence Knox. I really liked that show. Terrence Knox was also in St Elsewhere playing Dr Peter Brown? I believe. St Elsewhere was one of my favorites.

(Zone 7a)

I also liked St. Elswhere. I like the mini-series they put on from time to time. The Blue and The Grey, The Manions of America...Also Kingdom Hospital was kind of creepy and fun.

South Milwaukee, WI

I love the radio story shows. You can listen and do other things and you do use your imagination more.
Does any one remember the show called -"Alias Smith and Jones" It was 2 guys- one, light curly hair and the other dark hair and a beautiful smile with dimples. I loved that show- I had a crush on the dark haired guy with the nice smile. He was soooo cute.

Phoenix, AZ

When I lived in L.A. a gazillion years ago I went to an Amos and Andy radio show. This was in the 50's. Maybe '54. We were in the audience and the "voices" dressed in character. I think back and the whole concept is strange to me. Cool that some radio shows transitioned to television.

I loved Mystery Theatre on the radio. Geez those were scary.

Do you know the Queen/Freddie Mercury song that I LOOOOOVE, "Radio Ga Ga"?

(Boy that's a stretch. I saw the A and A radio show and love Queen.)

(Zone 7a)

I haven't thought of Alias Smith and Jones in a looong time. Used to watch it all the time. Mystery Theater was good, too. I downloaded a bunch of them to listen to on trips.

And "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?"

There was a show on back in the eighties that was called The Pheonix. Did anyone see it besides me? Or am I the only one? I could be because it only ran for 4 episodes. It was about an alien who came to earth to help us out. It starred Judson Scott who was in Star Trek, The Wrath of Kahn.

Wilton, CA(Zone 9b)

I really liked Rockford Files; w/J grander. He's always been a favorite of mine. We always watched Alias Sm/Jones.
We enjoy all the Hallmark movies; never a dry eye in the house.
