Our favorite TV show

Wilton, CA(Zone 9b)

Growing up what was your very favorite TV show? I could hardly wait until Sunday night because we watched the Wonderful World of Disney. (or maybe it was just called Disneyland?)

Lilesville, NC(Zone 7b)

I remember before going to school watching The Flying House Exciting Cartoon Bible Stories, i loved those and then when i got home from school watching "the littles" and the "smurfs".

I just love reliving those moments.

Saturday morning cartoons! Bugs Bunny, Foghorn Leghorn, the whole bunch.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

One of my favorite shows from an early age was 'Bewitched'.

I'll never forget the day my mother insisted we visit the grocery
store in the middle of the episode. She told me I could watch
it when we arrived home. I fell for it, thinking that as long as we
turned the television off, the show would stop.

Later, 'All in the Family' came along, which my father watched, so
while it was not one of my favorites, it was frequently on the television.

Smurfs...LMBO!!! DH and I call anyone who is of a small stature a smurf. Last Thanksgiving while at my DB's house we made reference to a relative and said she was a smurf. My 12 yr old niece asked what a smurf was...I told her it was an old TV show. I thought it was funny that she didn't know what a smurf was. Her response was, "Well, Aunt Heather, like I watch these kinds of shows that YOU do!" All the adults howled....no one ever told her it was an old cartoon, lol. I wonder what she thought it was?

My favorite shows were all reruns...Brady Bunch, Andy Griffith, Leave it to Beaver. Those shows were so nice...always something to learn, no bad language and any age could watch it and you didn't have to worry about covering their eyes. DH and I still watch those shows today and enjoy them.

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

It was the "Wonderful World of Disney" and it started with Tinkerbell and her wand. I went to Disneyland in 1956, then again when my dd was a teenager. I have been a couple of times since then. Before the fireworks show, when they have Tinkerbell (on a wire) fly across and start the show with her wand it takes me back to how excited I was as a kid to see her on our 12 inch black and white screen!

Silsbee, TX(Zone 9a)

Ok, I've been thinking about it...and my favorite show when I was a kid was "The Wizard of Oz". Oh, I remember my DS and I getting all excited waiting for the night it would be on, and our DB's teasing us about it. Then we'd make the popcorn and lay out our sleeping bags and pillows on the floor in front of the TV. It was such a big deal then because you couldn't go rent whatever show you wanted to watch whenever you wanted to watch it. It was a once a year showing, and it was a BIG DEAL! What made it all the more special is that my DS is 7 years older than me, and it was one of the few things we shared...and didn't fight about, lol.

Little House on the Prairie was always another favorite of mine and DS's. Plus I shared the same hair-do as Laura Ingles....oh, so many reasons for therapy.

Lilesville, NC(Zone 7b)

Oh just thought of a few more that i liked....

We would race home from school just in time to watch "Dark Shadows"...the "kids soap opera"...which has to be the tv show with the all time lowest production budget in history, as well as the worst production quality...but we didn't care.

Our parents would just sit there and laugh at the poor quality of the show, like the fact that you could see the cameras in the background, electrical cords on the floors, tape marks, people talking in the background, the actors flubbing their lines, really bad sound effects (which were always a few seconds "off " from the action), vampires who had reflections in mirrors, and characters that would come in from the driving rain BONE DRY !!!

Being young and stupid, none of this bothered us in the least, and we were loyal fans until it finally (and mercifully) was taken off the air...but it ran for something like 6 years...a few notable actors got their starts on that show i.e.: Kate Jackson, David Selby, and Lara Parker. Converesely, I think it was also the demise of the careers of Joan Bennett and Grayson Hall.

It's still a fond memory though, in spite of it's shortcomings !

Seems there's a nice group of you who remember alot of stuff. I don't remember until I'm reminded of something. Like all those Great shows listed. I couldn't've named half of them, but loved 'em all.
There was a show on once several years back, that I would really like to rent, but have no idea as to it's name. It was about a women who bought a wooden "doll" that was carrying a spear. Long story short, after she got it home it came to life and attacked her. As stupid as it sounds, it made pretty good story. Ya know the name?

(Zone 7a)

Trilogy of Terror. It starred Karen Black. I loved that movie. It's on VHS and DVD.

Wilton, CA(Zone 9b)

YES! Thank you

a fellow fan- so did you want the blond one or the brown haired one?
another ladies personality test- which Carwright brother did you want to marry? or Ben...

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

I love the blond guy on Man from Uncle and of course Michael Landon who was Little Joe. So what does that tell you about my personality? LOL!

South Milwaukee, WI

Everday I would come home from school to watch Gilligan's Island, Let's Make a Deal and then Star Trek. But for many years my favorite show was Perry Mason.--(what a guy!!)

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Little Joe was so cute but then Adam was the man of the bunch. Poor Hoss.

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

My Mom actually met Hoss. He was staying in a resort where she worked in Texas. It was before he was in Bonanza. She thought he was sweet but noisy. When he tried to flirt with her and she just did her job, she was a waitress, she said he grabbed her arm and bit her! Not hard but just wanted to make her notice. So we used to tease her that she could have had him and we would have had a "rich Daddy!" LOL!

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Yes...Green Acres was pretty funny. One of my sisters had an Arnold Ziffel lunch box. Whenever Arnold was in some sort of trouble, Fred would always look at Doris and say, "Well...you're the one who wanted KIDS" !

The Carol Burnett Show was great. I loved it when she was Marian from Canoga Falls in "As the Stomach Turns".

The old Mary Tyler Moore shows have to be the best...all the spin off's were good, too. Nancy Walker was excellent as Ida Morganstern.

Wilton, CA(Zone 9b)

Another tid-bit about letters I still have; a thank you note from Jackie Kennedy for a condolence note I sent. (off the track here)
