Morning Glories 2007 #31

Houston, TX

Karen, nice ten-ten and yours look more round.

This year I grew Ipomoea Purpurea mix from a Japanese pack and most of the flowers that bloom came out looking like what you see in the picture. Some were normal but most were feather like.

Very nice feathered blooms, Dee! Did you send me a few seeds of those? I think those look like the photo on one of the seed packs.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Emma, I was talking about the cypress, I just thought that photo looked pretty with the purple.

Thanks Beth I love the different colors it produces.

Becky it is a Purpurea.

Ronnie - Your unknown bloom reminds me a little of Rebecca later in the day. (Which is also a purpurea.)

I got my first bloom on my new collection of grow-outs :

Here's one of yours .... Jishi! Pretty cute little vine and lovely blooms! Thanks for sharing that one with me Ronnie! :-)

Hi Beckygardener,

I can`t remember what I sent you but if one of the packs has that picture then yes. Check the back and see if it has Ipomoea Purpurea Mix written on it.

Yeah, I`m still getting the seed packs ready for the spring of 2008 and still got a ways to go

Dee.

Dee, I noticed that myself. That one plant in the second generation looks rounder while the others have the star or kikyo shape. I will mark that one.

I`m sure the F2 seeds from my purple cross will yield a mixture. I really like the colorful hige type purpureas. They look like little jewels sprinkled around with all the bright color.

Here are some picture to show differences in how color can appear depending on how the picture was taken.

Here is my little champion that was the only one looking decent for a picture after a cold night and morning.

The one on the bottom is one where I messed with the settings until the color was closest to real life as I could get it.

beckygardener, I love the Jishi. This is a pink purpurea that makes almost black seeds. Karen

Pretty MG's all. You lucky ducks, living where you are and still growing lovely flowers outside!

Becky - that Jishi is to die for!

*Except one lone indoor Heavenly Blue that's still going strong! LOL.

Hello to all of you wonderful Morning glories! I watch your thread every day and I have learned more about this amazing flowering vine here than any place else. I had no idea so many varieties existed.

My Heavenly blues are still blooming away. I keep trying to get a pic,but no luck so far.

Welcome Posyblossom!!! Happy to know that you are enjoying this forum! I haven't grown Heavenly Blues yet, but that's one on my list for next year! I hope you are able to get a photo or two to post here! :-)

Sandy - OMG!!!! What is that awesome bloom????? FABULOUS!!!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

I tried and tried to get a sharp photo of this tiny bloom. Orange Noah is the cutest little MG bloom! I just love it.

Is Apricot Candy and Orange Noah related?

Hi Beckygardner....that vine sprouted up on its own in a pot where I had grown Blue Silk the prior year. It looks a lot like Blue Silk, except for that unusual jagged edge!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Sandy - If you should get some seeds to share from that gorgeous blooming vine, I'l sure love to get 2-3 seeds! That jagged edging is amazing!!! That one is high on my coveted list! LOL!

HI Seed, Not so early as it looks. We are still on Daylight savings time.Even if I don't post often, I'm enjoying watching. Thanks for the hello.

Hi Becky, I am determined to post a pic here. I was just out trying to get a pic in the pouring rain. My pics are with a 35mm camera, so it is always somewhat of a surprise when any image shows up:)))) Thanks for the welcome:-)

very nice flowers.. Can you guys tell me what Jishi means.. I know it is associated with the platycodon type flowers, but I don't really know exactly how it pertains to it.

The other ones I'm getting confused is Fuji and Shibori . Some are with lines and then there are the ones with spokes, then we have the spotted.. but some have both names (like Fuji Shibori) or Shibori and the flowers are solid. So maybe I'm a little lost here.

Thanks

A.

Hi Posy, nice to see a new face. Hope you can share lots of pictures!!!

We are going to get chilly this week but SNOW!!! OH NO!!! I've been lucky so far for PA. Our first frost in Philly and the Burbs is expected by Tuesday, I'll be doing lots of stem cuttings I guess to try and save some seeds....

Sandy this is to die for!!! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=4128373
Hand out begging graciously!!! ♥

Thanks luvs, it is nice to be a new face here. Oh No! Not the S word already!!!! I have the snow blower ready, but always remain hopeful I won't have to use it. On the other hand, I would miss snow falls in December. Our deck gets direct sun from the south all winter and sometimes with a lot of Sunshine ,even in Jan. and Feb.,it will get up to 80 degrees out there in the late morning. I quit taking the lawnchairs in for the winter and now I sit out there and soak up those winter sunrays. I live on the border of New York State so if you are going to get frost in Philly, we will surely be getting it here.Brrrrrrrr. Good luck with those stem cuttings and seed savings. I am going out now and do the same.

Blooming inside this morning....

Sorry inquirers...the Jagged Blue Silk "look alike" photo is from last year, of which I didn't get any seeds. Otherwise I'd have been happy to share. Bummer, eh?!

Sandy - You just broke my heart! (sigh) Frustrating isn't it. I have one that I want just ONE seed pod from. Nope! That vine is NOT giving it up to produce a seed! Major bummer!!

Thank you Karen, Becky & Ron and all re my Blue Blizzard

It is Ukigumo

Karen, way to go with you dilute Joyce Cobb.
Thank you and Yes, I would love seeds. I wasn't able to patrol the area where mine was growing to get seeds separately. All of those seeds had to go in a mix.
And good luck with this one

I agree with Martin that it does look very much like my Plum Frost variants, however, mine is a climber. Interesting that yours is a trailing MG.

Me too - the first time I have had a 'Square MG' of anything
