I have family in Asia where they don't "do" daylight savings time. I had to keep remembering the time difference when calling them. Funny thing is, at work, when the time changed in fall, none's late on the first day. Unlike spring!
Does anyone LIKE daylight savings time?
Welcome, cactusfan, to our NE forum and to this thread. At least we all have weekends with (hopefully) enough daylight to do whatever we want.
Welcome Leslie!
Hi and welcome! This is a really fun bunch of people.
hi Leslie!
I'm just south of the thruway, and I see you live where life's worth living!
Hi Leslie - welcome!
thanks for the hugs, 3gardeners
☺
I don't think Arizona does daylight savings either - at least they didn't use to. Remembering the difference between 2 and 3 hours wasn't always easy - a friend used to live there.
indiana doesn't.
Hee, hee, debilu! Thanks for all the welcomes, everyone!
No, we do not do Daylight savings time here in Arizona. We have more sun then we need! I look forward to the shorter days of winter and less intense sun.
My husband and I visited Arizona and New Mexico in 2001. On the fifth day in Arizona I said (only half joking): "Another day of relentless sun!"
So why not do the opposite in AZ then? Moonlight Savings time?
Good idea Victor
Welcome Leslie!
Don, That was great! I showed my daughter (15) who also really liked it. When I told here we drove to the RU together, she wanted to know if you talk in poetry too!
I'm all for moonlight savings time!! We are to be in the middle 90's again today with the relentless sun! Send some fall our way!
Welcome, Leslie!
Quietyard.......I love Arizona!! Are you having more drought than usual? Or do you even call it drought out there???
Heaven - I got a kick out of your observation about worker promptness in the fall!! LOL I seem to recall the same thing!! Now that's one thing I don't think about anymore!!
Hi Quietyard, I always explain Kamloops, British Columbia as "Arizona with a winter" - hot and dry in the summer (though not as hot as Phoenix!) Kamloops even has little bitty cactus, rattle snakes, and black widow spiders.
relentless sunshine is great - as long as the temperature never exceeds 75 degrees, and adequate rainfalls early every morning (before 6 am) :-)
Yes DonnieBrook we have been low on rain fall here for several years now. Tho we had some heavy rains this summer they were spotty and alot came in the night. We used to get regular 'monsoons' in the afternoons and they would cover the city. It was a strange summer. The storms were just different. Seandor, Kamloops sounds like an unusual place. I would never have pictured cactus in British Columbia!! Yes, sun is fine, if it never goes above 75! It was 94 today. Rain every morning would be heaven!! I really enjoy hearing about your changes of season. Here it is brown and less brown!! Hot and less hot!! I spent my childhood in Michigan so I really miss the seasons. Yes, we can grow flowers all year here so that is a plus but it is much tougher with the hotter and dryer weather we have been having. Hope you all do not mind my lurking around enjoying your gardens!
Lurking is allowed. Conversation is welcomed! All are invited to our Forum, for sure. The more, the merrier!!
For Dave's daughter:
When I talk I often mutter,
Rhyming words I seldom utter.
But rhyming lyrics?...love to sing it
If I forget it, then I wing it.
Dante poeticized his Hades,
Bards would serenade their ladies,
But nowdays, prose the general rule,
Voicing rhymes is not thought cool.
wonderful Don (from me and my daughter)
I must disagree with your conclusion. Voicing rhymes is very cooll. I see you as a very high-brow rapper. THANKS
I agree!
Don - nothing's cooler than your gift with words! That is something I really appreciate!
quietyard......we love to have you lurk anytime.......and really like your adding to the mix. As you can see, this forum is custom made for anyone who likes to chat!!! LOL
It must be tough for you at times - coming from Michigan with defined seasons. I grew up in Fla. without dramatic seasons, so New England stole my heart and has become my emotional home after 27 years here. I love the trees and forests so much, and I can only go so long without getting back into the woods.
Thank you DonnieBrook and Candyce for welcoming me to lurk here! DonnieBrook your words were so kind. It has been hard living here. My tiny back yard is packed with plants that make my yard look like the midwest or east. Ofcourse that takes alot of water and care, so we have not had a vacation in years! LOL! Many years ago we did visit the New England area and believe me it stole our hearts also. The covered bridges, steams, steepled churches and awesome coast of Maine was something we will never forget. How I miss the trees and the four seasons. Here we get a little color from things like my pomegranate bush which does get very yellow. Up north they do get color. My elm will probably get yellow also if leaves do not fall first, so I am looking forward to a little color here. We are putting in petunias and snapdragons now as well as pansys which will all bloom all winter. I would still rather have snow and take a rest in the winter!! Everyone here thinks I am crazy for missing a good winter!! I will keep lurking!!!

Welcome quietyard, from NE of the NE forum. It's a great bunch of folks on here...so don't lurk so much and get yer 2 cents in.
Yes quietyard - no need to be quiet here!
Wow, what a friendly bunch you all are. I feel so welcome!! How funny schickenlady I get the itch to go toward the snow and you are itching to leave it! I have great memories of winter as a child in Michigan. Ofcourse I did not have to shovel out the driveway just have fun on the sled and making snowforts and snowmen!! Threegardeners and victorgardener thank you also for inviting me to put my two cents in. ( it might be worth less LOL!) Can't wait for all your snow pictures and comments!!

Can't print the comments - DG rules.
Don't like snow Victor?
Ski and you'll like it more!
It's fine if it just snows in recreation areas. It's when I have to deal with it outside my house that's the problem.
I don't like driving in it, but otherwise I do.
UhOH! I'm new and have been lurking here too quietyard.
I always feel tired out til we go back on standard time. Lovely poetry on this thread. I've been going to sneak- a- peek in here all day today and finally am here.
hi posyblossom!

Hi yourself debilu. This is fun, fun, fun.
I didn't do it Victor!
HI Victor, I just tested the water with my big toe and you are right, cozy and warm;)
