After all this time, WC, tu peux me tutoyer! Et mes deus petites filles que pouvent me corriger ne sont pas chez nous, alors NOUS DEVONS RETOURNER A L'ANGLAIS.

There. I feel better now. I only shout when my brain is sorely taxed. This thread and income taxes!

Tra la la looks nice and sunny outside. Inside, I'm still glowering at my morning pills. probably why I snapped!

kiss kiss, Carrie

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Jezz!!... all I did was answer back the way it was given... it's gonna be a long winter! I must be a lightning rod!! Someone passed off some bad Karma on me!! I knew I should'nt have walked under that ladder yesterday!! Where's an exorcist when you need one!?

* 'Hasta La Vista' & 'Adios'!!!

Ooops!! ...(forget I said that!!!!)

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I need some morning pills too, Carrie!!
Got a late internet start today ... too much to do outside of the cyberworld, and not enough time in the cyberworld. I was suffering tremors! (Not really. But it sounded good!)

Frost, frost, frost on the pumpkins this morning, coming in at a chilly 28*. Now it's up to 58* with a slight breeze and increasing clouds. It will rain tonight for sure.

I saw that moon rising last evening! It was gorgeous, and so large!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Supposed to get our first frost early next week. Good - will knock out the allergies and most of the bugs.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

It's raining, it's pouring...just as I go to pick up my son from school, figures!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Only drizzle here so far.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

It's been pouring here. There's no frost in the forecast for the next ten days. Do y'all think it's too late in the season to move some roses?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

58, cloudy with rain later

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

ditto what Debi said. 40's tonite. making good progress with garden bed cleanup. maybe with the 'late' fall, I'll actually be ready to put things to bed.

venu, I don't know if I'd take a chance on moving roses this late. they could freeze before their roots really get established in their new home. but I'd ask over in the rose forum. or D-mail Cottage_Rose or Repeat_Bloomer

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Good morning!

47* here with rain. Looks like one of those cold, damp, days.
Only supposed to get to about 64* today, which is a blessing for this time of year. At least there's no frost. It's only going to get cooler for the next few days, they say.

The wind is still coming from the south and the humidity is high at 97%.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good morning all. Pouring rain here - yeah! 58 degrees.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

2.25 inches and counting...

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

wow

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Currently 53 degrees and raining - so I will get a lot of marking done today :-)

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I will keep DH busy if I can get him started! Lots of fall-cleaning to do INside - my dad is moving back East, so we have bad furniture to get rid of and cobwebs to obliterate etc.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Looks like the total was 2.75 inches. Sun came out about 1 1/2 hrs ago, and the current temp is 66.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

This makes 7.75 inches in 2 1/2 weeks!! Nice October gift.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Maybe I'll just move the ones I don't like :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Frost warning for us for overnight Sunday into Monday. Hard to believe it's almost Nov and no frost yet.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I agree, Victor, it is. Although it's nice to see the summer annuals still blooming, in spite of the date!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

True - there are positives to it. You have yet to have your first frost up there as well?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Yup.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow. Can't imagine Celeste hasn't.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

She must have by now. My New Guinea impatiens are going bananas.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

And my Bananas are losing their patience.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

but are they in New Guinea yet? Whoops - wrong thread - these are non sequitors are they not?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Friday morning it was 29 degree's @ 5am......I guess I've had my frost! My first clue was everything was slivery-white, my second clue was the dahlia leaves were black. It rained Sat. morning, all day too and this morning is mild compared to the last 2 mornings. It's 52 and breezy, not much for leaves on the tree's but there are plenty on the ground!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

40, clear presently, high of 52, low tonight of 32 with a late frost. Time to bring everything inside.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

deb, ditto (I've got to stop posting right after you LOL). that's my project for this morning. I still have a brug sitting outside and I don't think it will be very happy come tomorrow morning. it's cold, but looks like a decent day to get some things done.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Hey everyone!~ Great Day! I hope you all enjoy it.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

grampapa, I just checked the map for Wheatfield - you are probably less than 100 miles west from me.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

48 and bright sun here. Should be a nice day but we do have a frost warning. Same job for me today - bring in the plants.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Most of my tropicals are in, but now it's down to 'what do I want (or need) to save'. My callie cuttings aren't doing well. Should I try to dig the Sweet Potato tubers or should I bring the whole plant in? Etc. Good luck, Victor. They're all depending on you.

Mid-Cape, MA(Zone 7a)

Help! Does 36 degrees constitute a frost warning? (You can tell I know very little, being a former Californian.) Because that's what's forecast for Yarmouthport tonight, and I don't get home from a trip away until Tuesday. I've got a few houseplants still out: abutilon and azealas. Plus I haven't dug up my callas, but I thought I was supposed to wait for that till after the first frost. . . I'm probably 'way off base.
Anyway, I can "talk DH through" the process of bringing in the houseplants if 36 degrees is too risky. Or does "frost warning " always mean 32 degrees or lower?
Thanks!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I dunno - I brought most of my houseplants in a few weeks ago. I'm just worrying about my SPV vine...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No - frost means 32 or lower.

Mid-Cape, MA(Zone 7a)

Thank you, Victor. I'll calm down!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

A frost will do in some real tropicals like Coleus and Caladium, but it's not just the temp, but duration at that cold temp that dictates damage.

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

we have a frost warning here from 2am - 9am, and the forecast is for the low to be 38...
i'm worried about my ferals.
i'm going to be trying to trap them on thursday, but still...

Mid-Cape, MA(Zone 7a)

Amy, are you talking about feral cats?
