Nice, I like them. I wish.
Candyce and WaterCan - how cool those symbols are. Since I don't have a keypad, I'm going to try it Candyce's way too. [tried, but no edit button to paste or insert that I can find.....] Any thoughts, Candyce....I probably am just not using something right in front of my face!! LOL
We had great rain all night long and everything looks fresh and pretty. I thought more leaves would come down, but there are still lots of them up there. Right now it's a charming 62 degrees and very comfortable!!
Victor - how did you manage planting those big shrubs by yourself??? Must be that engineering mind you have.......use of leverage, brains, etc. instead of back-breaking brute strength??? Take pictures now that you've got your JMs and humongous viburnums in.......love to see the finished results of your hard work!!!
Whoops, I've been playing a game on Games. Am I in trouble?
x, C
sigh.
no one thought it was cool when i did it yesterday on the ramblings thread.

i never get to be the cool kid.
Victor, I read that you have a Paw Paw, do you notice a difference in the # of Zebra Swallowtail Butterflies in your garden and have you seen any butterfly chrysalis on your Paw Paw tree? I hear they [Paw Paw] like chicken manure as a fertilizer. I was thinking of getting one but I hear they're slow growers. Have you gotten any fruit from yours?
- Thanks!
Amy - I think you're way cool!! :)
aww...
thanks donnie!
☺
Get this.........with no warning whatsoever, at 5:00 it just started raining again here!! I thought I was hearing things........but no, looked up at the skylight and sure enough.....biggo raindrops that lasted about 20 minutes........ "whatevah"!!!
skylight.... you have a skylight. oh well. next life, i swear, i'll have a skylight.
x, C
Carrie - you'll love it until it leaks! LOL
Wow - a few to respond to! Amy - I did notice your comment on the symbol yesterday but did not have time to post. That's why the thought was still with me when I asked Candyce. So you get credit too! Now, since you're the music / stage person, I want you to make the symbols sing!
Louise - I'd love to take credit for carefully planning the shrub move, getting all the tools to make it easy and do a true engineering job. But I didn't. Did it the old-fashioned brainless, brute force, back breaking (or in my case, worsening) way! Let's say that much profanity left these lips - glad nobody was around to hear! To make things worse, the entire area is filled with pea gravel so I had to rake that away first. Then, since they are about five feet wide or more, it's hard to get close to sink the shovel. Last - there is always one (fill in an obscene adjective of your choice) root that refuses to let go. But it's done now and hopefully they will take well. I will try to get some pics. There is one more JM to plant.
WC - I have not noticed any chrysalises on the Paw Paw. I'll have to look next year. But yes, my two produced about 24 delicious fruit this year. They are more than 8 feet high now. They have a nice tropical look too - I have mine near my pool.
Victor, you must have a huge yard. It sounds like you have everything.
No Deb, not real big. About 6/10 of an acre total, including the house (about 2900 sq ft) and a 20 x 40 pool. Wish I had acres!!
Wow, so where do you have room for everything? Is there still hope for my small space?
Creative spacing! Yes, there is hope. I think the biggest mistake people with small spaces make is to plant all small things.
Profound and true VG, I have'nt mastered that concept myself yet - 'creative spacing'
Maybe it's time to get bold!
- Thanks for the info on the Paw Paw ;-)
Thanks Victor - its always nice to be noticed!
As for:
I want you to make the symbols sing
i wish i could make them do anything - or use html or smilies or color or anything on here!
But i understand that the majority is against it, so boring Arial plain text it is. (i don't like serif fonts.) That's why i was so psyched to find someone on the native plant survey thread who had a little smiley like that. But the shortcuts don't seem to work for me, i have to use the character map.
and there is no star.
i can't BELIEVE there is no star.
(thus the asterisk in my signature.)

The space bar is mine. Whenever you see a space, I was there.
wow - that's almost like - profound and mystical, Victor.
Ok, Where's my Zen book?!
I know I had a Zen book somewhere around here! ...
☺(smile)
WC - was a smiley translation necessary?!
lol!
Temp 56.1°, Wind 0.0, Dew Point 43.1°, Baro 29.70↑
Mostly clear here with a thin haze tonight.
Thanks for your great weather stats, WC. Can't wait to get my own station. Do you log the data into your computer too?
I can if I want to but I generally know the trends now for the seasons. I used to log it with the Davis system for years, (when it didn't freeze up and delete them for me). I've gotten very particular about computer speed and memory, so I've decided not to add anything extra to it for now.
(It would've made a good database of global warming trends though!)
I'm a data junkie so I will definitely do it. I do it with the solar. It's their proprietary software and is pretty lousy but it still gives lots of info.
It's very interesting actually. You can see the barometer changes throughout the seasons and the wind direction which also changes as well. You get to appreciate what a very low barometer means in a storm and you can compare the severity by comparing other storms with it. You can make graphs for the whole year and you more or less know what to expect. - it's cool if you're into data analysis.
53.8 now and going to 70 with sunshine, so they say.

At 9 AM, it's 58, going up to 68 today. Sunny--visibility 10 miles! Winds 12 mph, from WNN. Also 65% humidity. It's going to be a beeeyoutiful gardening day with lots of opportunity in the leaf-raking department.

i dreamed it was snowing. i was so upset cause all the plants i helped my friend put in were going to be killed, and no one had warned me it was going to snow.
