Time to start a new thread - the other is taking far too long to load.
Currently, the weather is bright and cool - just perfect in other words - and I am stuck inside. Hope those of you who can, are outside enjoying your gardens
Weatherman 4
It's gorgeous and even doing strenuous work is fun in this weather. So much for mostly cloudy!
I did ask about loading time. No one said anything.
Beautiful day here. About 65 now. Just finished planting the six JM's under the large JM. I'll post pics or start a thread when I can. All my photo stuff is on the computer that's down.
Yes! That is, until about 1/2 hour ago when it began to cloud up here.
I would have to say it is cold here - more so in the mornings. I have started sending the kids out in their winter jackets and hats. Brrrrr!!! And yes my heat has been kicking on too. Cha ching!
Made it to 58 here today with a light breeze. Same thing predicted for tomorrow. I can live with that!!
I could definitely take a repeat of today's weather - lots more ivy removal to go.
Wow Pirl - does it ever end? You'll be in Nassau County soon!
Actually I took a week off due to weather and approaching insanity with the ivy. I still have the entire side of the fence in my neighbor's yard to rip out. I just might torch it or use Round Up.
You have my sympathy.
On the bright side, it's not Poison Ivy, just plain old fashioned English Ivy.
I play tug of war with those every year near my neighbor's fence, unfortunately they win. No sooner I rip them out near my evergreens they are already entrenched and mounting an offense for next summer. I've come to look at it as the Korean DMZ, (no end in sight).
Good way of thinking about it and sadly true.
Once I do have them dug out I'll try to come back with my torch each week but it's one job among many.
I should know ....
When it's chilly in my bedroom when I get up, it's freaking cold outside!!
28* this morning with a good layer of frost.
The humidity is at 95% with the winds blowing NNE. Not really windy, but a slight breeze.
Oh yeah ... the forecasters say it should reach 65 today, but what do they know?
brrrr
I so agree with you, Debilu!
I HATE this time of year .... and, in an old house, it can be 30 degrees outside, and just 60 degrees inside. I get my exercise by throwing more logs into the wood furnace! Not to mention that I don't need a stair-master, after going up and down the cellar stairs all day long.
All of 50 right now, going to 68 but I agree with Candyce - "what do they know".
The cloudiness predicted for yesterday never came to pass.
The rain for today has been canceled due to lack of interest (though I'd enjoy it).
Now it's a "chance" of rain for tomorrow with thunderstorms on Friday, which means don't put away the shorts yet.
51 and cloudy here. Supposed to be partly sunny and about 70. Rain tomorrow and Friday (allegedly). Gonna mulch the newly planted JM's today.
Wow, you're really cold already Candyce. You'd love my pellet stove - very toasty and it's great psychologically to see the flames roaring, even though it's inside the glass.
I'm sure it is.
I'd love to see the flames roaring on that ivy bed!
It's 36 here at the moment...should make it to 60 today. The heat kicked on and I didn't mind!
I would have minded if the heat did not kick on. 40 degrees with no wind now, expected to go into the 60's. Humidity is still in the 80's but it is cool enough no to intefere with work. Suppossed to rain late tonight, - seeing is believing. The weather has been so obliging that I am actually starting to feel prepared for next spring. What a great feeling. :)
Current temperatures at 10:30 am = 47degrees. Expected high = 69 degrees. Then a low of - get this! 56 degrees! Tomorrow's high supposed to reach 77!
I can't believe my brugs are still blooming!
Nice and sunny here, 45 degrees. Maybe some showers and warmer rest of the week.
foggy, and in the 50's
Currently 71 and a bit humid here - thunderstorms overnight last night, maybe it was the RedSox groaning!
LOL just gearing up for our comeback, kid!
I certainly hope so!
me too, and billions and billions of other fans!
huh? are you talking baseball?
61 going up to 72, followed by two days of "chance of showers". Still too dark in the morning!
pirl, (or anyone else) do you have one of those mantis or troy mini-tillers? I am thinking of spending $350 for a mantis (some with "free" edging tool). But this is a lot of money for me, so I want to make sure I get my money's worth. DH has a big rototiller - but it is too big for me to handle and too large for small areas.
I want something smaller I can use around plants.
No frost today - hooray!
It's 44* now, on its way to a predicted high of 73*.
Cloudy ~ fog ~ humidity at 92%
Slight breeze out of the East
Yes, I have one. It's not as easy to use around individual plants as we'd (you and I) like. It's very powerful, noisy and I love when Jack uses it but I don't consider it female friendly. While I do consider myself strong and have almost endless energy, drive and ambition and it was a gift to me I still don't use it.
If you buy one make sure you have very good eye protection and wear slacks and a long sleeved jacket because it can hurl little stones and rocks. There's also the cleaning aspect of it, sitting for an hour and picking out the roots - they never tell you about that.
As for edging, we have that accessory but the machine can bounce a bit and if you think you want it to edge a sidewalk it just might not be the tool of choice.
Thanks for the feedback :-) I am trying to determine what to do about the hard dirt on the terrace.
Very good info., thanks, ...I'm crossing that one off my 'maybe get list'!
How big is the terrace?
58 and very foggy here.
Breaking up the hard soil aside, the thinking has changed on rototilling in general. It's not good for the soil. It kills the structure and upsets the balance. Get more worms!
