Wow - beautiful shots Kass! Would love to visit there. Thanks for taking the time to share them with us.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Great photos, Kassia. I hope to visit there one day. You have inspired me to visit more places and more wonderful gardens.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Very nice, Kassia!!!!!!!! I wonder if I could persuade the rest of my family to go...

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Carrie, it's totally worth going... and you can go everywhere there... it's totally accessible!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Where is it? I looked it up and it's near San Francisco, but it's CLOSED for the season. We go to Oakland every year at New Year's.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Beautiful shots Kassia!

Yep, closes October 28th. thru February 12th. It's probably a 1/2 drive south from SF.
Here's a bit of trivia from Wikipedia, remember that old soap opera Dynasty? :

"The mansion that appeared as the Carrington mansion in the opening credits, establishing shots and some outdoor scenes is not actually in Colorado, where Dynasty was set; it is the Filoli estate in Woodside, California. The mansion can be seen with the same decor as it had in Dynasty in Warren Beatty's 1978 film Heaven Can Wait."

Heaven Can Wait was a cute movie. Wasn't JR on Dallas? I never watched any of those shows but it was such a part of culture.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Doh, yes, JR was on Dallas, I fixed it.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

JR was on Dallas? - I thought I just dreamed that ;)

Looks great Kass. Lots of good pics. I recognize a few of the dahlias, they have good climate there for them.

You really should take Nancy OUT there.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Gosh Kassia, I am so glad you loved Filoli. I love it so much too!

Here are the girls being Krystle Carrington for the day!

I thought that Dynasty was filmed at the Morton Salt Mansion in Pasadena. (?) I went to a wedding there in 1991 and the lily pond in back had a sign saying that that's where the big fight between Joan Collins and Linda whats her name duked it out.

Maybe they used both places for the series??? Or am I getting it confused with Dallas, or that one with the grape vineyards and Jane Wyatt.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Wiki tells all :-)
"Many exterior shots of the Carrington mansion (including the Lily Pond catfight) were shot at a house called Arden Villa."

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081856/locations

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Yes...that's the house...Arden Villa...I don't know where I got the idea it was the Morton salt mansion...that's in Nebraska !

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks Kell for posting the pics... oh it was so nice!!!!!... I am really planning to go for spring!!!! This time my other friend Kelley (from Framingham) will also join us!!! ... so we can all go there together... and see the wisteria in bloom!!!

JD, maybe you can also plan to go???? I can just imagine what a party it would be!!!!! you, zuzu, kell, sue .... ah it will be fun!

Al, do you have any of those dahlias??? those were my favorite... and I want them!!!

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Kassia...depending on when you're coming, I could maybe swing it...but there has to be some more testosterone present ! Bring Al or Victor along !

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Al has a testosterone leak. He's hoping to find it soon.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

ROFLMAO !!!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Now THAT'S funny!!!!!!!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I don't have any of those, but since you want them all I'm sure I can get you something you'll like.

Victor - I know, I can't find where it's coming from. Maybe Dr. Phil can help me.

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

LOL!!!! can you just imagine if they both + Dave 47 could come???? I am afraid CA would never be the same!!!

Al, I am begining to search for them... next year my garden will be roses and dahlias... some vines and of course silly marigolds BUT the main attractions will be roses and dahlias...

I want to give away the extra dahlias I have to make room for the new ones... not a good idea to plant dahlias next to roses right??? oh Well I can just picture what that would look like!!!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Boy Kass, you like the high maintenance ones!! Staking, mildew, blackspot, Japanese Beetles, etc.You must enjoy work and suffering - only thing missing is children!

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Kassia, roses and daylilies go well together too!
Have you seen some of my daylily shots? I may have to send you some in the spring!
Ask JasperDale, he's getting into them too. :-)
