MitchF: WOWZERS!!! You lucked out...way to go with the extras that you weren't anticipating :) Keep us informed as to how your new babies are doing...
AMANDA?????????? Geez, that girl is way, way too busy at work....well, at least someone works when they're at work---hee, hee! Guess I should get somethin' done...
ME :)
I think I'm going to lose my Brugs! What am I doing wrong? 2
HI AuntB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My cuttings from flowerjunkie are in excellent condition and she sent double or more than what I paid for on all the cuttings. She is a good person to buy from for anyone wanting brug cuttings. She is selling on DG classifieds.
Tell me about it - Super Nova cutting for a dollar!! I was bouncing off the walls. Really supper great seller - I ordered from both classified ads for cuttings and ended up ordering about 20 between the 2 in all... can I say my cup is wayyyy overflowing? Now to keep all these babies alive!
AuntB that is the second awesome referral you gave me! :) Really, we keep saying that brugs teach us patience, but I sure haven't seen it yet! LOL
Thank you!
Oh, ZZ you ARE learning some patience.. you are waiting for blooms... getting trades and EVEN buying the ones we just HAVE to have is a way being patient..right? We both have lots of new cuttings rooting and giving us hope for their joyous blooms and we still are yearning over the mini's- funny aren't we? Actually, I'm wondering how I will manage them ALL, if they would all make it to huge pot size.....I hope to have to manage them all, I'll find a way. . . but I still need more mini's! It will never end and that's just fine. :)
Where IS Amanda? I've been busy, still need to do shopping and dealing with the ice storm and bouts of no electricity. I had a flu bug week before last and then the weather.. I worked from home as best I could, luckily I had an old phone, the hand held needs power. It's a nippy 12 degrees outside, right now. I've had ice on my trees for 5 days, and got 4-6 inches of snow yesterday. There are power crews from Kentucky helping restore energy to my small town. I'm so thankful. Some people have been without for 5 days and some will be out until next week some time in towns surrounding mine. The plants and us are doing fine.. The pink pendulous brug has 2 new buds about to burst and I'm dealing with mealy bug and aphids, but it's almost 2008 and I'll keep spraying and plucking. The scent will be welcome as well as being great eye-candy! Speaking of candy, we made over 12 dozen sugar cookies over the past 2 days and there's a paper grocery bag of party mix waiting for me to bake. I want to wish everyone a safe and happy holly season, (in case I don't get back for a while). Grow Happy!
thanks auntb! the cold is about to hit here and my brug has a bud on a new Y and i'm so worried it will get frozen offtomorrow night we may get to 29. also my poinsettia i am so proud of will probably get bitten... and all the christmas lights i spent hours wrapping around the queen palm fronds will probably all be off by the time all this wind is over. i am not gonna be able to study for exams tonight.... to anxious about how things will ge hurt! glad to hear you're getting your power back. hope all is well for everyone.... oh yeah.. my first plumeria is about to bloom i'll post pics since we have no brugs....
DH, can you cover it with something, put Christmas lights on the brug too, that might help... How EXCITING with your Plumeria! I have one growing in the basement, well, existing in a growth state, no buds in sight, PLEASE DO post some pics of it, how is the smell????
well the first one fell off so i opened it and it had a very faint smell like confederate jasmine but with a much more tropical tone to it. the brug is nowhere near a plug, and we used those for our nativity set in our front yard i guess i'll just cover them.i'll do the christmas lights on the poinsettia and cover it i guess since it is closer to the house. i was hoping it was going to turn out to be a frostless year, but it seem that we will have to wait a bit for one of those again....
here she is so far
PS you can see my pink brug in the corner of the window... :-)

Oh Pretty! I have a couple jasmine's in the basement a small yellow and a white one. They aren't blooming but seem content for the present. Those Plumie buds are lovely! I bought mine at K-mart for $8, (the tag said: tropical plant, keep from freezing) I have no idea what it will be, or IF I'll ever know, but it too seems to be okay with the basement for now.
Hello All!!
congrats on your plumeria :*)
keep warm AuntB
Kim
ur kmart sells plumerias??? lucky. the poinsettia and brug are bundled up in trash bags and christmas lights. are you keeping it going over the winter or is it going dormant? do you frequent the plumeria forum? if not, when yours is growing, you should. that way maybe you could see what color it is. mine is a "california sally" from the exotic plumeria.
thanks kim for your comment!
$8is a steal for a plumeria
I'd never seen them at K-mart before, and I KNEW $8 was a great price... Thought about 2 but justified the purchase by getting just 1. lol It is still "growing", not dormant down there. The trunk really grew fat last summer, it is ready for a bigger pot. I've lurked on the plumeria forum.. Thanks Kim, were doing fine. I think our whole town has power after Saturday. How'd the brug and poinsettia fare?
wel we didn't freeze..... got to 33* tho... i need to turn the lights off. my yard is decrated with plants wrapped in trash bags..... : i'll go check on them later but now we have "our girls" here cleaning so i'll not disrupt them....
PS i also did the strelitzia nicolai and reginae
i think this might be bilbergia nuntans (sp?)
her it is getting closer.... Aunt B! you're missing it!
Beautiful!!
It's exciting to see such a pretty bloom. How long have you been growing it? I had one sad to say it is in plume heaven. :(
two years this past november. i am rooting some given to me by Clare_CA. they are plain white, but start out soft pink... in the spring if they do wll, i'd be willing to send one up ur way
Why thank you. :)
Maybe I will have something to trade.
Kim
if you want to... but you don't have to
I will be rooting things and planting seeds this winter we'll
see what happens. !
mmk sounds good
Beautiful Plumie! Pink/yellow in the same flower makes my knees weak.. I bet it is awesome in real life and the scent is probably to die for huh? I have 2 second year plumie seedlings.. I don't go for anything but brugs.. but your pic is amazing!
thanks! the pink and yellow will start to fade tomorrow, but oh well. the scent on this one is kind of tropical fruity but light.... not very intense. but that is ok because i bought this one for the appearance. i'm gonna get an intense one this summer. the flowers are about 3 1/2 inches across each. i am so excited. it adds a tropical note to the room when it is right next to our christmas tree!
OH, TL!!!! It's so lovely! I'd be excited too! And right around Christmas, it is a gift for all your nurturing.. I'm glad it only got down to 33, I bet your yard looks kind of funny with the bags and lights, but hey, I'd have done the same thing... I bet the smell would be more intense if it was summer time...It's so gorgeous, I will hope for a bloom next spring/summer on my K-mart special! I don't even care what color or if there's a smell, I just want to gaze upon it's beauty and relish in the satisfaction that I was able to get it to bloom. You really have a lot of cool plants!
thanks we really had a bad frost last night. it really nipped the ends of the brugs, but i still have my Y. poinsettias were only slightly burned at the very tips
