So what's the story with the seeds? I have yet to see any on any of my brugs. Is there a secret ya'll'd like to shae with me???

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

Jan - RE My seeds :), I just put them in the dirt. Shared a few with my super energetic bro-in-law who hasn't ever heard of Brugs. His wife is getting into photography too, so when they send along pics I'll post 'em for you!! And you can bet I'll be posting germ pics asap!!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

sonogram for brugs -germ pics? Amanda, you little dear, spreading brug joy however you can! Sequee, are you looking for seed pods? I've had only a couple occur naturally in my 7 or so years with brugs and it was so late in the season the pods didn't have a chance to ripen... You need to hand pollinate for success and you need 2 different brug blooms. I've never done it, but I think there is a thread about how to do it.

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

:) Brugs are soooo addicting and exciting!! Why haven't these been plastered to thefront of every garden center?! Geez ... I've missed out all of these years!! THANK YOU, EBAY!! ;) That's where I got my first scent, now I've got Dave's and I'm HOOKED!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

They were considered poison. People don't realize their tomato plants are poison, too. I saw the word -brugmansia on another gardening forum (I was researching passiflora) and had no idea how to pronounce the word, let alone what kind of flower it was... well, that was 6, 7 years ago and I'm still in love. Their beauty is captivating!

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Thank you! Someone told me I needed to leave the spent flowers on the plant if I wanted to get seeds, and I've deligently left them on. Now I can remove the not-so-atractive thingees when they are spent.

One more question...

When should they be brought in? 2 of mine still have lots of buds on them, so I don't want to cut them down too soon, but I don't want to kill themoff, either. I've had 2 nights in the low 40's and they seemed happy enough, but we are expecting tonight to be even lower.

hi amanda,
didnt you get your brug cuttings off ebay from someone in Houston? i got mine in May and have been babying them since then. i was supposed to have had 3 colors; pink, golden, orange (i think thats the 3), anyway, they came with tags and i took one of each color, my sister in law took the other 3. my last one just bloomed, they are all a yellow, darkening to orange. i am soo disappointed. not that i dont love the color, but i really wanted the pink the most. my sister in laws plants were not doing all that well so i took them from her a couple of weeks ago and they have doubled in size. havent "y" ed yet, so no blooms. will be interesting to see if they are all the same color! i guess you should be careful with ebay, but i have never had a problem before now.

aggiegrl - Hi! Yes, I sure did get mine from a seller in Houston. When I bought mine thogh, they were listed as "yellow then orange angel trumpet trees live 36 inch rooted cuttings." Mine were true to the listing. Interesting tidbit of info though - very shortly after I received my Brugs, I couldn't get a hold of the seller to ask for any advice on these things, then he changed his ID name and I still couldn't get a response from him/her, even by the new one. That's how I found Dave's - been on here ever since! There is also another seller who sells from Houston on eBay that I bought some from - paid over $30 and never received ANYTHING at ALL!! I paid via PayPal, so they got my money back. I love PayPal ... so far (knocking on wood) it's been my life saver.

How long has it been since you bought your Brugs on eBay? And also, have any of your sister in law's Brugs bloomed? If so, what color are they? Oh wait- I reread your post. I'm geussing your SIL's are all doing the same as yours. I would first contact the seller about the issue, mention something about trading them out for the correct ones, etc. Not sure how far you will get, it depends on how much self respect they have.

hey yall! i went to columbia for the SC state fair, and dropped by one of my favorite nurseries in my hometown, lexington, and got a ney brug!it was $16.99, and it is a Y cutting that Y'ed again, and has a bloom on it! it should be a day or two. it says it will be white. i also got a musella lasiocarpa for $20.00 and some kind of jasmine for only $1.99! i'm excited!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Sounds like a fun fair/plant shopping day! How big is your brug? and jasmine for 1.99! (great bargain!) You made me look....

It sounds fun and pretty! Zone 7, natch! I went to a DG Round-Up - wonderful time meeting fellow d-gers and sharing. I came home with 2 huge hosta and a new house plant I've never seen before... and some flower seeds AND best of all the dger's and a face to a name! Great time. Can't wait for pics of your new brug, I'll be cutting very soon... Kim, that 'rare of all rare" brug is making me feel impatient...

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

hello! sounds like you two have had a ball.AuntB it don't look rare to me:(LOL

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I thought Rare was just pink inside not red LOL I like mine medium well anyway.. LOL

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Hey ZZ don't tease :) I was tricked

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

No harm meant Kimarj... I've been there before.. trust me! I was just tryin to be funny.. I don't take joy in other's misfortune. I hate to see newbies taken advantage of.. it's sad.. I know, I did it myself... I was heartbroken to find out I had 60 some odd seedlings that were open pollinated!!! I thought I had named varieties! I felt like such a fool.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

no harm taken !! this is a learning lesson ..plus ZZ that was a good one rotflmas he he:)

Bluffton, SC(Zone 9a)

its only about 2 ft

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

2ft? That's a nice size brug for the price, DH. Kim, no harm meant by me, there is a red sanguiani(sp) and it doesn't like all the heat and humidity I have here or I'd probably have one... that may well be what you have. I like all brugs, but it is always special seeing a bloom for the first time on a new plant... whatever it is supposed to be... it's still fun! And you might just have something very special... have to wait and see :( I don't like waiting. ZZ, I like mine medium, too but the light pink ones are so precious like a baby girl.. heck- there ALL precious!

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

AuntB - I know, I L-O-V-E the sangs!!!! Sweet Jan asent me some seeds and I'm going to try them, even though it's not even suppose to work in my climate! Maybe I'll bring it indoors here at work!! :) Well hey, if my roomies can have funky-smelling ethnic food for lunch, then I can bring in something that may attract bugs, right!? SHOOT YEAH!!

BTW, here are a few pics of my brugs from yesterday afternoon.
