OK-question, I have Echinacea Green Envy seeds but there is only 10 or 11 because my other flowers are not even close to drying out yet. Is this OK? I know someone would love to have them and they are unusual (but so dang cute) I am just worried about the amount.
What say you? LOL

Franklin, WI(Zone 5a)

I would hope 10 or 11 seeds is more than enough. I think some of the packs I sent might only have 5 or 6 seeds (depending on what they are). Since this is a rare/unusual seed swap I personally wasn't expecting much more than five to ten seeds per pack...but that's only my personal opinion!

Sandy

Marine City, MI(Zone 5a)

I agree. 5-10 seeds per pack is plenty for an unusual seed swap!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Yeah - how many weird plants do we want? lol

Saint Cloud, MN(Zone 4b)

Great!! so should I split it in 2 so 2 people can have them? I sure can do that if anyone loves Echinacea like I do. (This one is a soft pink with green tips)

Marine City, MI(Zone 5a)

yes, you can split it in 2 :)
I love echinacea :)

Saint Cloud, MN(Zone 4b)

Great, will do!! Wait until you see my other odd ducks-LOL

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Yes - I would love the Green Envy coneflowers - I have a special garden for soft pastels.

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Hmmmm - maybe you better split them up one to envelope!!! LOL!

I agree - a few seeds of anything usually does it for me. However, so of my "stuff" has itty-bitty seeds, so I will put in lots.

Some of them may have a bit of debris. I tried to blow them off, but after blowing the seeds all over my keyboard, I reconsidered...

This is soooo cool - I can hardly wait to see what turns up at my doorstep!

Marine City, MI(Zone 5a)

Im thinking of doing an unusual plant swap next year....this IS FUN!!!

Fair Grove, MO(Zone 6b)

I had a mailing marathon today and sent most of my packages and the unusual seed swap was one of them. Yeah, another one I can't forget.

Saint Cloud, MN(Zone 4b)

I love your dog dylancgc-he is a beauty!!!
Just took a look at his photo :o)

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

Is there still enough time for me to get in on this? Unusual is my speciality! ;-)

Let me know, I'd love to join in the fun.

Joy

Marine City, MI(Zone 5a)

Your just in time Joy! What a nice collection of unusual things you have! I hope to see some gaura in there. I just love that plant!

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

I can't wait for this one. I am better at deadheading than saving seeds, but I'm sure I can come up with a few goodies. I am new at Dave's, but my husband tells my kids I am going to marry guy named Dave! I sure hope I can get some of the Green Envy at some point distantkin. I have some of the new echinacea that the tags came out of so I don't remember what is what. But I do know that I have some razzmatazz and baby white swan. Someone can look forward to those! They are cute!-Kath

Saint Cloud, MN(Zone 4b)

Hi Joy-fancy seeing you here-LOL
I will always think of you as my "first contact" here at Daves-so it is your fault I am the addict that I am-LOLOLOL

Flower-I just pulled 2 more flowers off my Green Envy-so if you don't get them in the trade, let me know and I am sure we can work something out :o)

I will be sending mine out today. Some of these seeds are VERY unusual. If you should happen to get one or more of my packets, feel free to d-mail me for questions and growing instructions. (There is one packet of seeds that is particularly unique and interesting and I know whoever gets them will be wondering how to grow them. Don't hesitate to d-mail me!)

Thanks Theresa for doing such a COOL seed swap! I am looking forward to getting my envie of seeds! :-)

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Now I'm nervous - I hope mine are unusual enough... They were to me!

Marine City, MI(Zone 5a)

dont be nervous sequee! The idea of this swap is to send things that YOU think are unusual.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Well, I am in the same boat - I will send things that seem unusual to me :-)

Kalama, WA(Zone 8b)

Thanks Theresa, I'll be going through my seeds this week. I have a ton and they're not organized yet so it will probably take me a few days. But I'll do my best to send these out by the weeks end.
This is going to be so fun. I love group swaps! Thank you for having me. Oh, And I'll be sure to add some Gaura to that package! :-)

Hi Distantkin, An addict loves company! Welcome to the obsession. LOL

Joy You live in a very pretty part of the country. My sister lived in Kalama when we visited her several years ago and it was beautiful there. No wonder your trade list is so large.

Kalama, WA(Zone 8b)

Thank you dylancgc,
Yes I do. I feel very fortunate to live where I do. There is an almost unlimited list of plants that will grow well here. The only plants I've had problems with are plants that require long periods of heat. We're just too mild for real heat lovers.

I truly hope my post above doesn't make anyone feel like their choice of plants isn't unusual enough. I am sure what everyone is trading here will be awesome and I am happy to get any kind of seeds. I am constantly adding new garden beds to my yard and I appreciate ANY kind of plants that might like growing here.

My only concern is that seeds/plants I grow in my zone 9b and collected seeds from may or may not grow in zone 5 or 6 or even 7. So I hope that whoever gets my seeds will have success growing them wherever they live. :-)

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

This is surely going to be fun! I have already been poring over some of your lists and I am very excited. Joy I have been looking at your wants and haves for days(the list is that long)because you have great tastes! I have made a lot of your wants my own! Will we get a list of some sort on what others receivd to find out what everyone finds unusual? That would be cool. Just curious-I dead headed some amethyst-in-snow cornflower/bachelor button today. I don't think they come true to seed, but I wondered if I should throw some in for fun. I have seen some babies with light purple outers and dark inners and wondered if they were from seed from this plant. I wouldn't want to add them as part of my trade, but if there's interest I could divide them up.-Kath

Kalama, WA(Zone 8b)

Becky,
I grow all kinds of things that aren't hardy for my zone every year. I just grow them in containers and winter them over in my insulated garden shed. I have lights on timers and a small space heater I can turn on if it gets very cold, but I seldom have to turn it on. Many of them continue flowering much of the winter. So I'm not concerned about getting seeds for something that grows in zones 9 and higher. I know a lot of people in colder zones do this too, so I'm sure any of your seeds will be welcome.

Joy

Kalama, WA(Zone 8b)

Kath, I think my lists just show how obsessive I get with all this! LOL

Franklin, WI(Zone 5a)

...I was wondering myself whether or not Theresa was going to keep our "zone" in mind when deciding which seeds to send. That would take a lot of work though I'd imagine~

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Perhaps someone here can post a list of those participating with their zones for Theresa to use. Just a thought. (I would but I have a meeting tonight and work tomorrow.)

Kalama, WA(Zone 8b)

I'm putting zone information on all the seeds I'm sending. That should help. I'll make sure I send something that would work for each zone. If someone doesn't beat me to it I'll make the list with our zones this evening. Gotta get dinner going now. :-)

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

The only info that I put on my seeds was what they are (both common and botanical names), my DG name, and when they were harvested. Which is why I posted to invite anyone who gets my seeds to d-mail me if they need more info about germinating and growing them.

Kalama, WA(Zone 8b)

I put together this list of everyone in the swap and their zones as suggested by Beckygardener. Please let me know if I forgot anyone and I’ll add them.

Thanks, Joy! I got home a short while ago and am tired..... your list looks great!!!

I didn't know we had 18 people participating in this swap. I should've sent more seed packets. I only sent 10. Bummer! :-(

Kalama, WA(Zone 8b)

I didn't realize it was so many either until I made the list.

What fun!

Joy

Backus, MN

If I promise to get my seeds in the mail tomorrow can I join? Pretty Please, with cream and sugar??
I am in zone 3, but I try to grow anything, even if it is just as an annual. I LOVE it when someone says "What is that? I have never seen it before." So I am always looking for unusual and different. Will take common seeds also. I am not very picky, just love the surprise..... I have a sign somewhere that I put around my neck and stand out on the highway once in the while that says "Will work for seeds". (LOL)

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

ok my seeds went out today thxs so much for doing this

Marine City, MI(Zone 5a)

basket_case. Of course your welcome!
Enclose extra return postage and get a bunch of seeds I have if you want :)

Kalama, WA(Zone 8b)

I added you to the list above basket_case. Welcome aboard.
I'll be sending extra seed as well.
I'm having so much fun finding the unusual from my stash and getting it ready to send. I've been realizing though, I forget what's unusual after it's been in my garden for a while. It's not so unusual to me anymore because now I'm familiar with it. LOL So I'm trying to send seeds for plants that visitors to my garden find unusual.

Joy
