Do we need to bring door prizes for the kiddies too?

Just for fun, why don't some of y'all suggest what your dream door prize would be?

:)

Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

are there gonna be door rpize tickets? Sometimes special prizes are given to the folks who drove the farthest or the oldest, etc. too.

Carl

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

If anyone has irises, I would love to get some different colors for along my fence.

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

Did you not see my plea for people to get Iris from me?? I have a lot of them, the colors are mixed, but there are yellow, purple and white. I am bringing a boat load to the RU you are welcome to some of them...

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Those sound great melva! Thanks!

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

I have about 100 of them, I was going to divide them into a number of trades...how many should be in, each one?

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

anyone for big eared lamb's ear? can't remember if i asked yall about this one.

also, everyone who was getting the greggii...........some of them don't look to good but i will bring as many as survive.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Okay, since I've never been to one of these before, how do people get the plants to and from home? I have several of the plastic flats that will carry most of mine there. But then when I get there, I will have dozens of little loose pots with people's names on them. I'd rather divide them into groups for each person to carry home. BUT I don't think I have that many separate boxes, and if I did, I doubt I could get that many separately into my car. How have y'all done it before?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Pb...the parking is pretty close to where the plant tables are. You just need to make sure each plant is marked with the person's name or ID. Josephine has one long table that will be designated for "PROMISED" plants. You can sit them out of your trays onto the table. Another table will be marked "EXTRA TRADES" for those that aren't promised in advance. When someone picks up their plants they will have their own flats, boxes, etc. to put them in. If you want to bring some cardboard flats for separating later, you can do that too. But if you give someone a plant they will figure out a way to get it home! LOL!

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

I will try to bring a wagon or two for helping to unload plants.

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Sure, thanks!

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

Okay..I already set it aside for you..I worked yesterday on getting the plants in one place..they are so scattered (as you know)

Gainesville, TX

I think it is safe to say I will NOT be able to attend the RU :((. I went to the doctor this morning and they believe there is alot more disc involvement than they thought. I had a terrible day yesterday with the pain. Im getting scheduled for an MRI but it is highly doubtful I will be able to do ANYTHING for at least a MONTH. I am just sick...here the weather is getting wonderful and I can't do a dang thing. GRRRRRR

My sister is going to put in the flats of plants I had bought before I injured myself. But I wanted everyone to know so that the people who were going to bring plants for me can either pass them on to someone else or they don't have to worry about transporting them.

I almost want to cry over not being able to meet everyone and looking at all the flowers and plants and....'sniff'.

I have to remind myself that next year I will have lots more to share and I will just have to think of it as Christmas...it's just takes another year to come around and if Im a real good girl then Santa will be good to me too.

Debbie

Gainesville, TX

Melva,

I had to giggle when you said your plants are scattered. I was thinking of your driveway. I wish others could see how much hard work you have put into starting all those plants. At least I noticed you were organized in naming the plants and who they were promised to.

deb

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

Debbie,
I am so sorry that you won't be able to be there...especially seeing as how, I was going to follow you to Arlington. It took me about 3 hours to get from Plano to Denton, one time...and it was via Gainesville...(I got on the wrong highway, and went North)
Josephine sent me directions..and they do seem easy enough....

I am going to bring more roses..if I can decide which ones to bring..I have a lot that do not have a name on them, so people will have to take a chance on them...I have some that are large enough they need to be repotted into a larger pot, or put in the ground, since I plan to sell roses starting in the spring...the larger ones, need a home now. I have some unmarked passion flowers too that are up for grabs.
T.J. not sure if I will have room for the manure, my car is kind of small...is there a chance you. and or Mitch, can come back? I promise to give you guys a number of roses...

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Lonestargirl, sorry you can't make it! I was looking forward to meeting you as Melva speaks very highly of you.

Melva, after the swap I will be rosed out! I never fancied myself a rose lover, but between you and Mitch I have quite an extensive collection and must draw the line. I will try to get up your way sometime soon and bring you some manure.

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

Not a rose lover! Bite your tongue! I have a lot of other plants, too....

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Melva, I will gladly accept any roses from you. Lonestar was bringing a lady banksia for me so if you have another little one I'd love to have it. I don't care if they are large or small climbers or bushes. I just want roses. LOL

Can I bring you something? I have you down for p. incense and gardenias, is there something else I could bring?

Broncbuster, I will take all the cow manure you can spare.
Charlene

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

Charlene,
I just have the one, Lady Banks, but I have a lot of others, they just don't have names...I know the ones I have taken cuttings from..so it is one of them, but I have taken cuttings from about 50 roses

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

melva, if those passion vines are hardy here i can use them for the butterflies. their babies ate all i had. i never saw so many caterpillars in my life. and if you have any climbing roses i can use those too for my sister.

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

The Passion flowers are not the native one, so they probably are not hardy...and I don't think any of the roses are climbers, I didn't take cuttings of any of my climbers. The roses are probably Noisettes which I have many of...

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Melva, I will take some passion flowers if you have some left and the unnamed roses will be just as pretty as the ones that have names for my interests.
Passion flowers are a favorite of mine, I just traded an incense on DG for a lady margaret. I can't wait until I get blooms from her. I had her once before, but didn't get her inside in time to save her and she didn't survive the chill.

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

Okay Charlene I will bring you some roses How much chill can Lady Margaret take? I have one that just decided to start growing, the silly thing! Do you want 2 unnamed roses? And I will bring an unnamed Passi for you too.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

I don't know about lady Margaret, but mine is coming inside tomorrow just to be sure. Mine is not very big yet either. I am wishing I had her inside now as it is coooldd outside. I will be thrilled for your unnamed goodies. I am not picky about the names, I just love the prettiness of the blooms.

Thank you,
Charlene

Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

weather forecast looks pretty good - no rain and not cold!

Hope you get better Deb.

Carl

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Charlene....I planted Lady Margaret here outside last year for the summer, she took off, and last fall I dug her up because I didn't think she could take the cold. She hardly survived being dug up, looked dead all winter but then she put up new growth in the pot in late spring. However, in June I noticed something popping up where she was planted last year. Sure enough, she came back! And that was a decently cold winter. So I think some are hardier than we give them credit for.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Blue_eyes, I think my first lady m was not in the ground long enough before the first frost hit her. This new one is in a hanging basket and won't have to suffer being dug up. Hopefully over the winter, I'll root some more of her and have some back-up in case of problems. The first one I had only put on about three flowers for me, but oh they were beauties.

I love it when something comes up when you figure it is gone for sure. I had one tropical hibiscus that I had totally given up on and planted some other things where it had been and fertilized and watered and bwahla the hib returned. I guess it was just hungry and thirsty after all.LOL

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Charlene, I have you marked for 3 bags of manure.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Bronc, you have made my DH a happy man. Thank you, Charlene

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I've still got a few daylilies left....2 ice carnival, 2 baja, and 1 topgun's verna jean. Now well rooted fans.

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Charlene I would like some manure

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim, if you can't find any takers, I can always use more daylilies. You know, if you twist my arm or something. :)

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Blue eyes I want in line also. Ted

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

I have a lot of seeds that are outdated. Over a year old.
Also some veg seed. Going to bring a lot of cuttings that I need to get rid of. So will have a lot of extras to go around.
