It's time for the 2007 DG Photo Contest!

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I didn't get to finish voting either ;o)

But I believe whichever votes you cast were counted, and when you click on Dave's link and select a category, you can see the winners, then scroll down to click on a link to all the other photos in that category, too.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Yaaaay! Thanks, Terry!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

i got caught by that "voting til the 19th" thing too, but i only missed one category.
So, now we can no longer see which ones WE voted for, or saved as favourites, is that right? Cause i am not sure i remember from just the thumbnails. Next time i'll copy the titles at least so i'll remember!

I was hoping I still had my votes somehow saved as I voted early on and now wanted to see how it compared to the actual finals.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Yes Dave, 3 is too small a number compared to 5, now that the group is growing and growing!

Shangshui, Henan, China(Zone 7b)

Enjoyall the winners' in great excitedment.
Simply wonderful!

N Middlesex County, MA(Zone 5a)

Enjoyed all the winning photos immensely!! Even though I thought I went through all the photos during voting, some of those winning shots I had somehow missed. 2000+ is a lot of photos. And of course many of them had to stand out in a thumbnail to earn the "click" of consideration.

I had saved all my top 3 choices and next few runner-ups to my pc for each category. It was fun to look back and compare. I think in almost every category I had 1 or 2 matches that placed.

Can't wait for next year. I really want a new camera now. Good timing of this contest with holiday excess spending time coming up :-)

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

plantaholic,
My new camera was not enough! In fact, my simpler version of Fuji's shot has won a second place. Though the camera matters, it is the shot that matters most - this has been proved here!

My choices too in voting were obvious winners at least in about 3-4 sections - so my judgment matches with others' and I'm happy about it. In some sections, it was really tough to choose.

I enjoyed looking at most of the pictures. 2000+ is a lot really and I agree with you on that.

My hearty congratulations to all the other winners.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Dinu, it must be a pleasure going to work every day at such a beautiful place--thanks for the opportunity to view your pictures.

Next year you'll pick your top 5 instead of top 3.

Balotesti, Romania(Zone 5a)

Congrats to all photographers, I enjoyed looking at all pics, but it was a tough choice ! Thank you for organising the contest for us, Dave!

Yaaaay on the top 5! Thanks, Dave! And next year, I'll start earlier, so that'll help...LOL

Berkeley, CA(Zone 9a)

Now that it's over, do we get to see numbers of votes for pictures? Winners and non winners.? My eye was validated in that most 1, 2, or 3 I had voted for. I guess I'd like further validation wondering if any of mine were close.

I considered that, but I'd really rather not do that. There are some photos that likely received a tiny amount (or none!) votes and that would hurt their feelings to learn that this was the case...

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

What about showing us 5 honorable mentions for each category?

Yes, that's a good idea. I'll have it up shortly.

This is done! It now shows the top 3 winners (just like before) but it also shows the next 5 "runner ups"

Good suggestion!

Alamogordo, NM(Zone 7b)

Great idea, now I gotta go check it out! ; )

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

Thanks Dave for adding the honorable mentions! You work fast!

i agree with dun1kirk - i also wish that we could see how many votes we got, at least privately. i'd just like to compare my entries against each other.
And i am sad "our favourites" disappeared. In some cases, it's hard to remember what i voted for, and in others i had kept some photos in my favourites so i could come back to them later. i shoulda saved the info elsewhere. But now i am going thru the thumbnails and dmailing some that i remember voting for, that didn't place, to tell them how much i liked their picture!

I am sure that there were some entries i never saw. i think that maybe if you were using full screen and stopped partway through a category, and then went back, it maybe didn't show ALL the ones you hadn't viewed. Because in 2 categories i only saw one of my 2 entries, and i thought something went wrong when i uploaded them, but there they are in the thumbnails now. And though i may have forgotten viewing someone else's picture, i am egotistical enough to know i'd remember seeing my own!
There are some beautiful pics that placed that i don't think i ever saw.

But wow, what a lot of great photos! It is cool to see how many people got really involved in this contest - and that so many of us are still discussing it!

Necedah, WI(Zone 4b)

Whoever Atenkley is :) you rock. I've downloaded almost all your pictures for my desktop as we go into winter here. I love your 'eye'.
I've also downloaded quite a few from several of the people above. Alot of my favorites didn't win, but at least I get to see them again.

Balotesti, Romania(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the 5 "runner ups", Dave!

Berkeley, CA(Zone 9a)

Ditto, Dave. I'm validated!

Robertsdale, AL(Zone 8b)

Thanks for your nice comments, Hyblaean! I appreciate them!

What a successful event, Dave. Thanks for all your efforts and congratulations to the winners!

Thanks for adding the runners up, Dave! While they are all great photos - some of my favorites are in the "runners up".
