I guess most of us would need a turkey sitting up there, rather than the Raven.

grandmaggie, I almost posted on top of you. Nice pic.

OK, I've got a question for you experts.

Since all my hummers (and most other birds) have headed South, I have time to go through the hundreds of pics I quickly put on hold during the Summer.

This one puzzles me. I thought the eye of a Ruby-throated hummer was either black or close to it. This pic shows a distinct blue eye that I first thought was a reflection but there was nothing blue elsewhere in the vicinity that could have possibly caused this.

I've included the original (the bottom pic) straight from the camera to prove it was actually captured and not some residual effect from post processing.

OK, Resin, Pelle and you others who have been keeping a low profile, please give me your thoughts.

I think either this is a reflection or the equivelent of red eye. Animals eyes do not exbibit red eye in photos as humans. Their eyes shine usually silver or gray. Red eye software will not correct it. It would need to be done with layers in photoshop. I checked some of my photos and have found some with reflections. But none like yours.

Thanks, fchisolm,

You're probably right but I was hoping for something more exotic as I wait for the Bear's TV game to start at 8pm ET.

That "their eyes shine usually silver or gray" is new news that I greatly appreciate.

Got this shot of my Hummingbird visitor the other day. Saw him again today, but did not have camera in hand.

Got this shot today of a Black Vulture.

Good light for a change for this shot of the Painted Bunting male in the caged feeder.

Stunning photos, everyone! I prefer the idea of a blue eyed Hummingbird - gorgeous, and exquisite photography.

I haven't taken many photos lately - and the weather is nasty today so despite all the feeders being full and lots of visitors, probably no pictures.

Great pics gardenpom, the Painted Bunting is very colourful!

I have started a new thread by request, this way......
