Wonder if he knows some thing I don't

Definitely, yes!

Is his name Thought, or Memory?

Klamath River, CA

since I suffer from an advanced case of C.R.S. it could be memory.

Melbourne, FL

The camera would not focus well in the poor light, but this morning the first Painted Bunting of the fall season showed up.

Tiller, OR(Zone 8a)

Look what I found out back this morning! First Cedar Waxwing I've seen in about 35 years, and they sure are lovely all fluffed up. I kept shooting until the rain forced my camera back inside. ;-)

Glad to see your Painted Buntings back GP!

Lucky you tiger; nice shot!

Tiller, OR(Zone 8a)

Here's another. Gosh, I sure hope they're still around tomorrow.

If you've got plenty of berries, they'll likely hang around.

Just got this shot of a Cardinal visiting one of my feeders.

Very nice pic! His red really pops in the shot!

Melbourne, FL

Thanks Pell, by the way, so far I have only seen one solitary male Painted Bunting. Hopefully the rest will arrive soon.

Marlton, NJ

I'm looking forward to seeing them!

Have you put their feeder out yet?

BTW, I had that feeder in your Cardinal pic but the squirrels go to it and destroyed it. :-(

Melbourne, FL

Yes, the male went right for their caged feeder. And yes, this one is plastic, so won't stand up to a squirrel. I also have a smaller one made of glass.

Melbourne, FL

Just got a shot from inside the house of the Bunting in the feeder. It's been raining on and off all day, and rather gloomy now, so the pic is not very good.

He was hanging around again today. Cloudy and rainy, hard to get a good pic.

Adel...Does he speak?

Yes, but most people can't understand what they say. Odin can, though.

Klamath River, CA

It's probably good that we can't understand them. ( I still think his name is Munin ).

Could he be the reincarnation of someone from the past?

Klamath River, CA

If he comes back today I'll ask him.

Marlton, NJ

I feel bad we've had terrible weather here and I haven't been able to take photos.

I did see a Gray Catbird in my yard for the first time the other day so that was exciting.

Missed out on a couple of good shots of different birds yesterday; oh well, :-)

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

I have enjoyed looking at all the different birds you have there, I haven't many around at the moment but I got a pic of a Collared Dove today. There are Magpies around and I have seen them flitting through the trees, couldn't get one to come my way though!

So, even though it was dull as a day can come, I thought it was a very pretty bird and the shots turned out reasonably well. The first one is not so good but I liked the look in it's eye. I wonder if this is a young bird, it was stood on a dusty patch my neighbour has cleaned a lot of rubbish from.

Nice pics wallaby! :-)

Brainerd, MN

Very sweet.

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Thanks pelle, yes sybil it does look sweet!

I have some from August 30th of a baby Woodpidgeon. I saw a large blob drop past the window as I was sat at the computer, it landed on the window sill which is not far from the ground as the window is very large. The nest would have been in the Virginia creeper, I could see some leaves pushed out.

The first two I took from inside, it looked very confused and lost. The last I took outside, it had settled down for a while then it flew up to the Oak tree.

And I wake up in the morning ♪ to the Mockingbird trill... ♫ ♫ does it make a trill? Nice, pelle, it looks a little wary of those frogs!

Marlton, NJ

Thanks wallaby! They imitate so many birds its impossible for me to keep up with all the different sounds and calls. I have no doubt they can trill.

Their a very cool bird! :-)

What I'd like to know, is how a Mockingbird I heard in Texas learnt to do a note-perfect imitation of a Song Thrush in Britain . . .

Just a mourning dove on the bath.. it has been so dry here I even put the sprinkler on for them also. :)

LOL, I think they do alot of adlibbing!

Resin remember that old thread I had about the pretty bird song I kept hearing but we couldn't place it and just decided it had to be a Mockingbird.

I think they must be very intelligent & creative birds.

I'm so glad their back! :-)

Hi Grandmaggie, I've been filling my 3 twice a day! :-)

Klamath River, CA

I asked him what or who he was and he said he was the ghost of my past sins.

Thumbnail by adelbertcat
Klamath River, CA

I told him that I thought he was a liar....if he really was the ghost of my past sins he would be a lot bigger.

Thumbnail by adelbertcat
Klamath River, CA

He made a comment about the marital status of my parents and that was the end of the conversation.

LOL!!!
