Typical pose for a White-breasted Nuthatch,
I'm really frustrated w/ these pix. Seems when I set the camera to no flash that they come out real dark and very noisey. They didn't look that way at all on the LCD. Maybe someday I'll learn this camera.
DAILY PICS. VOL. 22
The yellow rump was visible on the full sized image.
Yes! I've really had some awesome days at birdwatching recently! I love it!
Daughter sent an email last night that they have a Black Phoebe visiting there. What a "see"!
Your knocking us out with all these great birds tiger! Thanks :-)
What camera do you have tiger?
Camera is Canon EOS 30D, and I have learning DVD's, but when I had DVD player installed, it wasn't..........that's why PC was back in the shop. Now, I've got too many pix to go through to check the DVD's!
I should note that when I have the most problem w/ the image quality is when there's sky visible. Other times it seems okay.

I've eyeing the Canon 40 D; I hope everything works out for you tiger!
Very sweet pics tiger!!
See what better quality this is..........there was almost no sky visible.
This precious little bird let me shoot 97 times, then came out on the end of a branch only about 6 feet from my face. Darn!......the card was full! Of course the bird was gone when I got back out there.
That was a good feature on the Sony. It showed how many more images the card would hold.
Beautiful tiger!!!
Wow!!! :) Fabulous pics!!! :)
Fabulous photos, everyone!!
And, Tigerlily, you really outdid yourself - stunning photos . . . makes me wish I'd gotten a Canon instead of the Sony (although we might be talking about ability here, not cameras!).
I haven't had much chance to take pictures lately, and very few that I have taken were worth even saving, but I did get a decent Heron shot yesterday - and I was able to get closer than normal . . . boy, are they easily spooked!
I also was able to photograph some Canada Geese. There were at least 120 of them - I counted 60 and it wasn't even close to half. I couldn't get too many of them in the picture, though, as I had my 300mm lens. When I started walking towards them (and not even close yet), they all went into the water. When I headed back the other way, back they all came out onto the beach!
Love, love, love that heron shot!
tiger, did you see all these in 1 day?
Are you using a 400mm lens?
Murmur, Wonderful heron shot!
Please, please tell me this little beauty is what I hope it is! ..... Yellow-rumped Warbler??
Yep!
I think this is a Ruby-crowned Kinglet, but I haven't checked it out yet
One of the Empidonax flycatchers, most probably Pacific-slope Flycatcher (Empidonax difficilis)
Is this a youngster, or perhaps a Gilded rather than a Northern?
Youngster or female - only the males have that red streak on the face. Gilded would have a browner (less grey) crown.
I'm guessing this Towhee is a juvenile
A female; juveniles have streaky brown (not orange) flanks. It could well be a bird hatched this year, though.

I have never heard of an Acorn Woodpecker. Thanks everybody for sharing. Nice little something special to spend time on this morning.
Tiger..I knew there was a good acorn crop this year but I have never seen a pine loaded with acorns.
When I walk across my yard the sound of cracking acorns is like corn flakes. The blue Jays are staying in the tops of the oak trees eating acorns and not coming to the feeders. The other birds seem to be finding plenty of wild food also. They are only coming to the feeders as a last choice. It is our harvest season so I am sure there are plenty of seeds and fruits for them to eat. Plus there have been lots of generations of insects for their numbers to have increased. The squirrels have been digging up everyone's yards hiding acorns and have been stripping the pine cones. I think they have been throwing acorns at me when I walk outside. I think I even heard one laugh after an acorn hit my head.

Great photos!! See what happens when you miss a day on here!
pelle........no, not all in one day.
I've only got a 300mm, and dreams of more glass when/if I learn this camera.
Frank, we're having a huge number of acorns also. I'm seeing the jays fly over all day with them, and I know that crunch under foot. ;-)
Wish the squirrels would go more for the acorns and leave my tulip bulbs alone!
Resin, thanks for the ID assistance. I wondered about the Flycatcher, because he's more under cover now than before. Perhaps he's seeking protection from the onery Robins. Though they're flocking, they aren't even nice to one another.
Thanks all of you for the nice comments. Now if I just could get the Tanangers, Red-breasted Sapsucker, Black-throated Gray Warblers (and a few others!) to be still in decent lighting, I'd be pleased.
In case you don't know, Liquid Fence is a product that keeps everybody away from plants at least from the ground up. It smells awful at first application but in a day or less the odor for us goes away.
Tee hee!!
Nice pics everyone!
adel, love your Chrismas tree!
nice hummer shot Frank!
cute pics sybil!
I missed the Christmas tree. That is adorable!
