My Get Well shelf from my friends and son.
Sick of me yet.LOL.
Any health news from jannich and about her!!!!!!!! part 2
WE love you and miss your good advice on growing......................get well.................and, I am going to publicly embarrass you by saying if you don't tell me where you want to order your bingo prize............I will pick it out all by myself................
those streps from Brenda are gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!! She can really grow those streps.............
Beautiful Strep's, Beautiful Orchid and Beautiful Rose too!
I know all those Pretties and the Healing Tea's are going to cheer you up and help you get well quick!
Sleep well, Jan!
Oh, I'm so glad Brennan's picked some nice big pretty ones for you Jan!! I just e-mailed them and told them that I wanted them to pick out two streps that were in bloom so that you would be sure and get nice ones! They did good, those are real beauties!!
I enjoyed all your different pictures too, the rose is especially pretty!

Brenda..............please give three gardeners advice on her new streps.......she lives in a climate as cold as yours................thanks.........she posted above i do believe............you can really grow the streps............may have to look at Brennans..................
Brennan's is awesome Gail! Such nice sized plants when I have ordered or had them sent to others, I'm so impressed with them!
Threegardners all I can say is the streps have loved my east facing front window and they were not too picky about the temps this past winter. It was my fist year to grow them and I hope they continue to do as well this winter. I have a table full of them up to the window and I pull the blinds if I know it's going to be single digits or below and then open them up when the sun gets bright again. They were beautiful from early spring on. I'm hoping for a repeat performance this year as they really brightened the long winter!!

Gail: Is that first photo the Alsobia cygnet or the dianthiflora? Or are the two the same?
I gotta go look at mine!
Oh, I love Blue Triumph ... pretty chimera!
Lin, Allison sent it to me with the name Alsobia Cygnet............so I don't know..............she looked pathetic inside..........so I put her in a small basket outside, fed her one time with 12-36-10 and withing a week she is blooming for the very first time.......
I've got to fertilize all my plants .... way past due!
Lin, when I am in Boerne, Texas..............the next time.........which will be the first week of November, i am going to pick up this fertilizer that this african violet nursery man uses on everything outside and inside...........it is his own fertilizer.............for outside it is 1/2 tsp to a gallon and 1/4 tsp to a gallon of water inside.......(I often use less on wicked things)...........Anyway, get you a gallon watering can and get in the habit of all the time...........outside I often water everything with the water hose.........then go back using a strong 3/4tsp to a gallon and pour a little in every pot while it is still wet...............makes fertilizing so much easier..................
I have both Eleanor's VF-11 and Dyna Grow and everything does so much better when they are fed regularly ... I am just a bad plant mom and say I'm gonna do it, but then get to fiddling with something else and forget! The term "Ditzy Blonde" is fitting me more and more the older I get!
ok........................does anyone know what is up with Rain...........I just dmailed her as i haven't seen her online in a while...................
I have been thinking about her too Gail. She and her husband had both been sick .... I hope they didn't relapse ... and I wonder if the kids caught it?
Hopefully we will hear from her soon.
I too have been wondering about Rain, I think last she mentioned that her son had caught the bug that had so wiped out she and her husband. It must be making the rounds through her family! Hope they are all better soon!!
She and her happy, informative posts are sure missed around here aren't they??
~Brenda
Thanks Brenda. I was hoping they might like a cool windowsill. An east facing one I don't have, but I think they might be ok in my North window...that's where the pic i took of them is and it seems pretty bright.......
Susan, I wick everything now..............Snowrose is the one who has taught me the importance of constant same amount of moisture.................Even my big streps in 5 and 6" pots are wicked................I use those big white reservoirs.........can't remember where i ordered them........they come with the reservoir and a 5" pot..........but you can also use a 4" pot................if the plants aren't too big..........I just use the permanest trays with the grids.......
**************TA DAAAA!!!!!!!!! I hit the jackpot at Lowe's...........the lady I know called me yesterday afternoon to say that she was unloading the new shipment........and that she would be there today at one................so guess where I have been.................
Before I show you these hoyas with the pots please know that I only paid 8.95 and that includes the pot it came in with good soil..............
This isn't a good picture of the three pots.........all trained...........but our winds are gusting past 40mph and I had to put them where they are somewhat protected.........
There isn't much that we haven't talked about on this thread (LOL).............promise we can start a new one after I post these pictures..........someone always feel free to start a new "yapping" thread..............one of those hoyas is coming to see you jannich!!!!!!!!!
This houseplant has a name but I have forgotten............Spider something............just thought it was unusual looking................
NO.............I am not getting into orchids but these are so easy to grow...........she told me they just need orchid bark poured all around inside that little wooden box and the hanging stuff is already there............both colors are yummy and out of site........called Vangard (sp????????) orchids.....
Gail you are always so lucky at finding the coolest plants.Love them all : )
The only reason, cedarnest that i find them is our weather is still over 90 degrees everyday.................we will probably have access to all these plants until Thanksgiving when they turn all the nurseries into Christmas trees....................how many Christmas trees can each family put up it seems to me(LOL)
I always tend to forget the climate differences in different parts of the country...Our garden centers around here have been empty for the past few weeks already....I was in Walmart last week and they were already putting out Snow Blowers and Christmas Stuff!! No Trees tho...lol
Gail: How lucky you are to find such healthy "new" plants at Lowes. I have been to our Home Depot's and one of our Lowes off and on the past few weeks .... they have nothing new ... everything that is sitting there looks real ratty ... waaaaay past anyone spending money on!
Li, if you really are looking for anything in particular, let me know.............this was just one Lowe's and they are all over our area.....................
Hey all! I'm here! :o) You may have noticed that I tend to hyperfocus and completely lose myself in things and I've caught the Orchid bug so have had my nose in Orchid books and websites for the last couple of days. I also went shopping! :o)
Jan, I'm so glad you're feeling better! Just keep improving! Big hugs to you!
Here are pictures of the Orchids that I bought.
Miltassia Dark Star 'Darth Vader - This is an older plant in a small pot with fading blooms.
Rain!!!!!!!!!!! You're back and orchids at that!!!!!!!! This is really a coincidence..............they are beautiful................i didn't even go to Lowe's to buy an orchid but couldn't resist the temptation.....................I don't know a thing about them...................but better learn pretty quickly if I want these to stay alive (LOL)
I actually bought these from a lady about 30 minutes from here. Can you believe I actually found someone close by with plants worth buying?? LOL
This is Phalenopsis 'Fortune Buddha' x 'Brother Pumpkin'. Love the color of these blooms. :o) One of the buds has opened today. Let me go snap a pic of it.
You sound as if you know what you are doing...............i have no idea at all.................the lady sold me some orchid bark to put around the roots?????????? i said, "yes mam" and off I went.................
LOL I have NO CLUE what I'm doing!! I looked at a couple of Vandas and thought about buying them, but I didn't because they were more expensive. Don't take my word for it at all, but the lady I bought from said they don't need anything in the baskets, and hers didn't have anything in them. Maybe someone else here grows Vandas and could tell you, because I really, truly don't know.
