Any health news from jannich and about her!!!!!!!! part 2

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

We will start a new thread about keeping up with Jannich.............you better help us jannich (I know you don't feel good or you would be here now)..........................in the meantime while waiting for jannich jump in on any subject you wish...................

back to my overcrowded seeds................I may start trying to either thin them out or start planting these tiny things in their own solo cups under glass....................I need you jannich..................rain has said i could go either way..................

I ordered chirita tamiana leaves..................new experience...........do I pot these up now????? Rain, keyring, jannich??????? anyone know>>>>>>>>

Thumbnail by gessiegail

I think I would let some of the first batch get a little bigger, but you do have a few cups that look large enough to carefully divide. I sometimes think they like the overcrowding and being close. I can't help with the Chirita, the only one I have was a large plant when I got it.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

thanks, Susan..........................I may attempt to divide at least one set of leaves that look bigger than the others................

I'm so glad to hear that Jannich is feeling better. It's really hard to be seriously ill. Gail, if you talk to Jannich, please let her know she's in my thoughts. Also, not sure if this is something she'd need, but I know a lot of people have a tough time figuring out their health insurance plan when something major happens. I don't sell insurance or anything like that, but I work as an analyst for self-funded healthcare plans. Since I've learned a lot about the health insurance industry, I'm usually the one friends and family call when they're trying to figure out their policies. Will you let Jannich know that if she needs any help understanding her policy she's welcome to d-mail me. Sometimes it's easier to figure out what you need to do when you're talking to someone who can read the darn plan documents. I sure hope it doesn't seem invasive to offer this kind of help. I just know it can be helpful to have someone else's help understanding the requirements of the insurance policy.

You are ever so right, Drinnian.....................I had a friend over here the other day all upset because he husband had to have an endoscopy...........really sick............her husband's employer had changed insurance companies about two weeks ago..............so now they had another deductible to meet in the same year.
She was just in tears because the clinic where it was to be performed demanded a 685.00 deposit .......................she didn't even know she had any options............she called the financial office, gave them permission to talk to me...........and all i did was say, 300.00 is all they have............shall he go elsewhere as he really needs this procedure...........they said that would be fine and the rest could be taken care of in small payments.............

Aaaaah .... A cup of hot tea sounds like a wonderful idea! I'm a big tea drinker and think I will go make myself a cup right now!

I am very curious about the healing teas ... What Brand? Flavors? Inquiring minds would really like to know.

Welcome Back Miss Jan .... we sure missed you!

I can't help on your seedling question Gail.......... but I'm following along as I finally joined the gessie society and I'll be getting my packet of seeds soon I imagine! I'm excited!!

I have had Chirita Blue Moon since this past spring and it is finally getting ready to bloom and boy is it going to bloom. Look at all these buds and there are two more on the other side for a total of six! Wonder how much longer it will take? Anybody have a guess???

Brenda: I joined the Gessie Society a couple of weeks back too. I joined up on their website but didn't see anything about getting free seeds? Oh how wonderful that would be!

Love your Chirita 'Blue Moon' .... I haven't seen or heard of that one before! Looks like you might be getting bloom stems real soon ... I would think in the next two or three weeks from the looks of it. My C. 'Stardust' is in full bloom again and I have two bloom stems appearing on C. 'Crossroads'.... can't wait to see that one, the first blooms since I got it.

Here is my C. 'Stardust':

Oh wow Lynn, that's what I want to see on mine, just beautiful!!

I joined online also and it does say in the small print that you'll receive a packet of mixed gessie seeds along with a couple of back issues with your first issue! Fun huh? Can't wait to give them a try now that I have a few more shelves and some lights.

~Brenda

(Zone 1)

Oh, I never read the small print! Now I will be looking forward to the back issues of the magazine and seeds! Thanks for telling me that! Now I just need to join the AVSA to be able to get that beautiful magazine!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Jan, I'm so glad to see you! And I'm happier yet that you have good news to report about feeling a bit better... I hope you'll be breathing easier each day! You know you've been missed. :-)

And I'll just echo everybody else in saying, take it easy, rest up, and take good care of yourself! After you've been down, it's very tempting to try to catch up on everything all at once and wear yourself out... don't do it! LOL You come first, and everything else can just wait.

Praying for a smooth and speedy recovery! :-)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi Critter, Brenda and Plantladylin......................I have one that I don't know the name of but she is covered in buds...............when she blooms, I will be begging you all to identify her!!
Love that Blue Nile.................Brenda...............

Guess what??????????? I didn't get any free seeds when I joined.............besides, I don't know if this happens all the time, but a DGer told me that the seeds I ordered from that man in Brazil had much much better germination rate...............so maybe it is not all bad that we didn't get the seeds.from the gessie society.....................

(Zone 1)

Gail: Is it a Chirita that is covered in buds?? Oh, I can't wait to see those blooms! I just ADORE the Chirita's! Gotta search for a source for Blue Nile .... it is a nice plant. Looks like one of the Larger ones! Wonder if it gets as big as 'Aiko' - that one is quite large!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Lin, I've got a 'Blue Nile' that I need to take apart... so if you haven't found one by next spring, I should have a nice extra or two available then.

Lin's chirita blooms are gorgeous! And I can't wait to see those buds open on Brenda's chirita, also! Gail, you know I always love "baby" pictures -- good luck with your little seedlings. :-)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I have taken my Aiko apart and started new leaves...........she was just tooooooooo big......... but i will post this unknown chirita as soon as she blooms................

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

I have a Diane Marie that I can't get to bloom to save my life.I love the foliage but I sure would like to see it bloom.I think it was Lin who had pictured hers full of blooms? Whats the secret to getting her to bloom?

(Zone 1)

Cedar: My C. 'Diane Marie' was so pretty a few months ago. Now she looks pretty pitiful. She had one bloom start last week and quickly wilted and fell off. I have it in a wicking pot like always but I just don't know what's going on with that one. I might repot it tomorrow to see if fresh soil helps.

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Thats so sad Lin,She was such a beauty!!.Hope she bounces back for you.Maybe fresh soil will do the trick..I think I will try that too once and see if that helps.I am ready to try anything.I am determined to get her to bloom..Thanks!

(Zone 1)

I just went out and got my mail and got my welcoming letter to the Gesneriad Society along with a two magazines - one the fourth quarter 1999 issue of The Gloxinian (before they became the Gessie Society I think) and the other Gesneriads First Quarter 2007. Attached to the letter is a teeny packet with what looks like a couple of teeny seeds and it's labeled Mixed Gesneriads! Woo Hoo .... surprise seeds to sow and hopes that they germinate and grow for me!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Maybe I got some and lost them....................dingy me!!!!!!!!!!!

(Zone 1)

Gail: Did you get a welcome letter with the little booklets "The Gloxinian" and "Gesneriads"?? The little packet I got was stapled to the bottom of the Thank You/Welcome Letter signed by Bob Clark, Marketing Secretary.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

jannich.................are you lurking? Look what i found when watering the front porch................
When Allison sent her to me last February she marked her name as Alsobia Cygnet......little baby she was.....................she may be something else but she has a bloom............I almost knocked her off with the wand watering.

I have a new uploading system and i can't find her bloom............running outside again...........can't find it again.............boo hoo..............

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I will go back and look in the packet.............thanks

(Zone 1)

Gail: Where's the picture?

I have an Alsobia Cygnet I got from Allison too! It was not doing so well inside so I saw where someone posted about moving theirs outdoors and I did that. It is now growing. Hasn't bloomed yet, but I do need to feed it, along with a lot of other things! On my To-Do List for tomorrow! :)
