North Texas RoundUp - Trade page 3

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

I have never tried them, my friend Karen, wants them...do you have some bouncing bet to share? Sounds like they would grow with the roses.

I planted one 4" pot this spring and forgot I had it. I'm sure the rain helped it survive total neglect. I'm watching the seed pods closely and will bring some some seed for you or Karen.

I was so surprised when i found it hiding behind another plant, they are wonderful.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO BRING A ROSE CUTTING. iN SEAWEED SOLUTION?Sorry, didn't mean to CAP it.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

cocoa, is bouncing bet the same as soapwort? if you have it can i have some?

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

There is no reason to bring the rose cutting in a solution of anything...just wrap the cuttings in a moist paper towel and then carry them in a plastic bag..or, if you want to keep in a seaweed solution you could just have a bucket, with the cuttings in it.

Will do Mamajack : ) It's the same as soapwart, i don't know how a wonderful little plant got stuck with a name like that , lol.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

something to do with the roots making sudsy looking water if you wash them.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

cocoa....do you have any more salvia mystic spires or butterfly bush? My black knight bit the dust, and I saw the mystic spires at a nursery and loved it.

Kim

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I will bring a couple Blue Porterweed seedlings if you want one Kim, I will save it for ya.

I also have lots of Black and Blue Salvia. I will go out and cut some today and get them rooting in case someone wants some.
debnes

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

deb....the blue porterweed would be terrific. Thanks!

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

debnes, i would like a blue porterweed if you have enough. i have 2 trades to get out and then i will do my best to get my trade list up.

Mamajack, that's interesting, may have to try that sometime. Have you grown soapwart? My seed pods feel "puffy", like nothing is in there. Still too green to pick, but wondering if it would be better to start cuttings. Of course that means I would loose my seed pod....ohhh decisions, decisions

Blue-eyes, Sorry I only have one cutting of Black Night that "took" and have promised it already. I'll bring some potted cuttings and maybe you'll have better luck. I planted most of my salvia cuttings last week. It's easy enough to dig one up, only one small problem. The Mystic and Indigo are identical except one is wider then the other when full grown. I know which mother plant is what, but didn't mark the planted newbies. Whichever one you get I'm sure you'll love, they are both great performers.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Alrighty then! My 2 PWs are taken now, :-) (mamaJ and kim)

That was fast, lol!

Debnes

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

No problem cocoa.....I'm sure I will love whatever they turn out to be.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

I took this picture this morning of my tradescantia spiderwort plants growing all on their own up against a tractor tire in the pasture.

You can't see the flowers unless you click it. Did I say the flowers were purple? Ooops, they are bloooo! LOL

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Those are Dayflowers, aren't they? Commelinantia?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Charlene, I think this is the plant you are talking about;
I calle the plant you have Day flower, commelina erecta.

The Tradescantia I was thinking about is this;

That is why the confusion,

Josephine

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

That's OK! For a long time, I thought my dayflowers were false dayflowers. I even had a girl come up from San Marcos to take samples of my "false dayflowers". She was disappointed to find that I had no false dayflowers, only dayflowers.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh well, I thought something was fishy when everyone else said theirs stopped blooming in May. Pretty though especially in clusters.
Sorry for the misrep.

Anyone want DAYFLOWERS?

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

lol - I can give them buckets loads here too - I keep them here let them grow and keep the ground cool.

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

here too!

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

what ever works, I let them and the frog fruit fight for the space.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

You guys have crushed me. I knew it, I just knew it. When ya get a feeling that sumthin a'int right, it ain't!

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

lol

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Hey at least I didn't call an expert out to take samples. I had you guys!

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

That's true!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Charlene, I hope you don't feel bad about the confusion, we all have been confused at one point or another, with all those plant names.
I have lots of it too, it is a very prevalent native, but very pretty in the right place.
I saw a field of them one morning right after the dew, and it was a glorious sight, too bad the flowers are so short lived, when I came back with my camera a while later they had already closed, so no beautiful picture, Oh well.
Josephine.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Gnaw!! It don't bother me none! I just crawled under the bed and cried. LOL
Actually, I think that you never get too old to learn. What you don't know someone else does. Sometimes you are the teacher and sometimes the student. I just think it is funny how everyone thought that I had some special kind of spiderwort when all I had was what everyone has growing all over everywhere.
It is a learning experience, I learned this time. Next time I'll help some poor confused soul like myself to know the difference.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

It runs a close second with Horse herb for king of my Nemesises! LOL!

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I have been known to plant Horse Herb...

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Yeah, but I didn't have to. The whole backyard was HH when we bought the property. I guess it is better than zero ground cover, and looks good mowed.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Looks good in flower beds too - at least to me . . .

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

I can see right now I am never going to live this down. At least everyone will know me. For being the one to offer to trade weeds for flowers. Give a girl a chance now I had to give it a try you know.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

now what is horse herb? if it grows that good in texas i know i don't want it but i do want to know what it is. lol.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

well even the spiderwort that we were talking about can be weedy here in texas. lol. but i love the stuff. it is so pretty in the spring. and i love sweet kate too....the one with the chartreuse foliage. i am lining my ditch with this spiderwort, lycoris radiata, artemisia, mint, mexican hat and any other thing that tends to get out of hand in a bed.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey, Charlene, at least it's a pretty weed!

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks Patrob, I actually thought it would be pretty in a bed all planted up by itself. I still think that. LOL

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Charlene....They are not a weed in my book, I planted them at one time. They just got away from me, too invasive now.
Mamajack... Here is the link to horseherb
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/35421/

I am bringing some for someone else if you change your mind.
