North Texas RoundUp - Trade page 3

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Stephanie, I have added your link to the main group of trade links.
Thanks for the Salvia, please see from my list what I can bring you.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Stephanie...I would love some cosmos seeds and some shasta daisy. Please take a look at my list and see if I can bring you anything.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Stephanie, for some reason I thought you were on my list already, but I must've confused you with someone else. Is there anything that I can bring you?

That goes for anyone else too. My gardens look horrible right now, but there's plenty of anything on my list (except the pink monarda). But time's getting short to get things rooted, so let me know.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Stephanie, I also forgot to ask for Cosmos seeds, I didn't have many this year and all are gold, I would love the variety!

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Just checking in with some additions and questions.

New adds:
-------------------------------
1) I think I can do a couple more of the scabiosa 'Butterfly Blue', if anyone is interested. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/31644/ These guys are, literally, the first thing up in my garden and the last thing down. If you're looking for something easy, they're about as easy as it gets. Mine bloom from March to frost.

2) http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/85326/ I just found out how fast these echeverias root, so I could do a couple of them. Apparently, this one is only hardy in 10-11 (Plant Files says 9), so it needs overwintering. (Sure glad I read that!) Very pretty, though, and grows like crazy, so probably worth the trouble to keep it alive.

3) I have one unpromised blue skullcap start, and am hoping for one more. This is a different one from the one I had last year--blooms earlier. It may not be cold-hardy either (learned my lesson the hard way last year). Here's the tag info: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=4008723

4) I may have one water lily division left. I'm not sure they should be divided this time of year--anyone know? If not, I'll save it for someone in the spring. This one is a named variety, but I lost the tag and don't remember. http://www.pmblonestarlady.com/gallery/album01/water_lily_1

Other things I noticed, checking back through the threads.

Charlene, you said you were looking for morning glory. I have wild morning glory that the birds planted. It's not Heavenly Blue or anything intentional like that. But it's still a nice wild vine with little lavender bell-shaped flowers in the fall. Comes up mid-June and is blooming right now. Twines around with my cypress vines--and, like all the ipomoeas, will choke out other plants if you let it. I still keep some every year because I like it. Interested?

Sheila, when we talked about bog/pond plants, I had asked for some of your sweet flag (and pickerel reed). I think I was confused--what I'd really like is the yellow flag/iris. Do you have any of that left? I'm enlarging my little pond and can use all the water plants I can get. So I'd still like to try the sweet flag too. But only if you have a lot.

Melva and/or Mitch, you've both mentioned irises and brugs. I've never grown a brug and would love to try one--any color. Also, if you have tubers left, I have a new iris bed where I like to plant irises especially from online friends. This is a "wild" bed, so anything you have left over would be great.

Josephine, if you have frostweed left over, would you please put my name on one? You've convinced me--I want more natives. :) I've never seen a plant, but the photos look so pretty.

Sylvia, you know about my hosta dreams. Anything you know will grow in our area would be great.

A few other wants that I haven't seen mentioned:

Red spider lilies - Lycoris radiata. I bought a dozen from Old House Gardens last year. Big, very healthy bulbs. None of them have come up this fall. :(

Hollyhocks. Mine were just so pretty, and we really enjoyed them. But they got hollyhock rust and I think I've lost them all now.

Joe Pye weed.

Purple tradescantia. This is the purple vined groundcover, shade-loving, with little pink flowers.

Bog and pond plants--ANY except the ones I have. If anyone has cardinal flower (lobelia cardinalis), that would make my day. Rabbits ate the one I planted in the ground.

Pulmonaria. I thought these were risky in our Texas heat, especially since nobody around here sells them. But the ones I bought on eBay have done beautifully. Now I want them to fill in all my shade beds.

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

I have plenty of Iris I will mark you down for ..I also have Zebrina which is a type of Hollyhock want some of that too?

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

pb...
I just looked at your list...can I have some Blue Skullcap and Ruellia?
I just started some cuttings of Hot Lips Salvia, I have had it root in 2 weeks...if they don't I will have them in the spring.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

I have the tradescantia for you. It is really easy to grow, just stick it in the ground. I have bog sage, which is good for wet areas.. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1152/ I also have pink rainlily.Let me know.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

pbtxlady - brug - no problem. Iris - got you down too.

I would love the pink water lily/

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Pbtxlady, I am reserving 2 Frostweed for you.
Josephine.

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

scabiosa 'Butterfly Blue' I would like to have.
I have six small brugs that have not yet bloomed.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

pbtxlady, I appreciate your offer of the the morning glories, but I believe I have those already growing in a few places. Are they the small ones? My wild ones are only about an 1" 1/2" across.
Thank you for the offer.
I would like one of your scabiosa 'Butterfly Blue' if you have another one left. I have some of the transcendia spiderwort to add to your purple with pink that bananapink is bringing if you would like it. It makes a purple flower, but doesn't spread like a ground cover. It blooms here last frost to first frost.
Charlene

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

charlene....I have seeds now on my morning glories I could collect for you. One is blue with a pink star and the other is a small yellow one. Just let me know.

:) Kim

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

I have plenty of seeds for Morning glory Grandpa Ott's.
Will trade for others

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

pbtxlady; I have lots of the Yellow Flag bog Iris plant I will bring you. Also I may have a start of Lizard's Tail, have to look. Also have Horsetail Rush I will bring.

Sheila, you might want spell check and edit that last post. LOL

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, my goodness--lots to respond to. See, I knew we had more trading to do--LOL!

Thanks, Melva, for the irises and brugs. I'll put your name on the second skullcap I have growing. And yes, you can have all the ruellia you want. :) Which kind do you want? I have the mid-size pink ones, the dwarf blues, and the tall purples. I don't recommend the tall blues because they're just voracious. But I'll bring any kind you like.

Anna... aren't you already bringing me rain lilies? Maybe those were the white ones. Anyway, yes, if you have the pink ones to share, that would be great. And I'd love the tradescantia. I think Barb & Paige already have me down for bog sage, though.

Mitch... I *think* the water lily can be divided safely this time of year, but I want to check first. If I can't divide it now, I'll sure get you one in the spring.

Josephine... you need to see if there's anything else I can bring you. I think you already have most of the natives I do, but please check.

Ted (TA Rogers).... starting you a scabiosa. If you could put my name on one of your brugs, that would be great.

Yes, Charlene, my morning glories are the little wild purple ones, so that's probably not what you want. I'll get a scabiosa started, though. Now tell me more about your spiderwort, please. I have a couple of them, but they didn't do very well this year. I could use another one, just in case they don't come back next year. Mine are also only spring bloomers. If yours bloom in the winter, that would be just a great addition.

Sheila, I don't know yet how big my "new" pond will be--just know it'll be as big as I can make it! So anything you can share would be very appreciated. I don't have your name on many things--is there anything else I can bring you?

I also noticed some of you are talking about gardenias. I have 2 big August Beautys. Don't know how to root it, but someone said it's easy. if anyone can use it, I'll sure give it a try.

Cowboys are on, so time to go. If I left anyone out, let me know!

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Okay, gotcha for the Chi-chi pinks.

Melva, I have Strawberry Sundae salvias which I think are mislabeled Hot Lips. So I don't need those, but thanks anyway. Got a question for you, though. Do yours bloom in two colors? I get a lot of flowers that are either white or red, but not too many that are both.

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

I had a plant that bloomed all white...but most of mine, do bloom the two colors.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

pbtxlady....if you are looking for brugs I am rooting cuttings of my Pink Favorite, nice large pink flowers. If you want some just let me know.

TARogers....sorry to say the lantana cuttings are not taking. I think it may be the time of year. I will try again, and I can bring you fresh cuts if you would like to try yourself. If I am successful in the spring I will save some for you. I am not in need of more MG seeds right now, but you are welcome to the two I mentioned above. They are pretty and I have plenty of seed.

If anyone could bring some rain I'll take some....lol.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Sure, Kim, I'd love to try your pink brug. Thanks! Can't help you with the rain, though, sorry!

Denton, TX(Zone 7b)

I have a lot of heirloom vegetable and flower seeds. I can also bring rose cuttings. I have around 250 roses and they are all antique roses except for a few Austins. I have some that are rare such as Setzer Noisette. Lots of Hybrid Musks, etc. that you don't often see available. Dmail me for a list if you like. I am looking for Clematis I don't have and just about any drought tolerant plant or seeds that attract hummingbirds and butterflies.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Does anyone have a Peace Rose?
I would like a start of one as that is the "trademark" of the online group I direct.
I decided along the drive way I am going to plant roses..that way I can smell them coming and going lol

I'm hoping the cuttings I took and dipped in the root hormone take off..we will see as to what I have in trade I am bringing everything I can fit in my car and if the cuttings don't make a go of it I will be taking cuttings that morning before leaving and hubby will dig what ever I tell him to dig the day before for me...oh and going to bring homemade cookies if that works for trading too *smile*

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

blueeyes I would love your mg seeds. Thank you, charlene

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Pbtxlady, my spiderworts start blooming at the end of the last frost and bloom until the first frost. So, they are the first to bloom and the last to stop blooming. They are wild here all over the pastures and fields. I have dug some and potted them up. I plan to have a bed of them as I think they would be pretty with a bunch of them all in one place instead of randomly scattered across the fields.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, I agree, they are just beautiful in groupings. Would you save one for me, please?

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

charlene..............your spiderwort blooms all summer? here in this area it goes dormant when it gets hot. don't you get as hot as us? where is buffalo?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Sheila~I have you down for Cosmos seeds. These things seed like crazy you know!! Thow even grow out in the cracks in the street! LOL

If you still have some, I'd like some W Tx Mistflower & Rudbeckia

Patricia (Patrob)-If you still have any Transylvania Sage, can you put my name on one please?

Pbtxlady~I'd like a coneflower or two, any color is fine with me. Also, if you have any scabiosa left, I'll take one of those. I love those flowers!

Charlene~ I'll take some light pink hardy hibiscus seeds if you still have some.

Mitch~Do you still have some fall asters? If so, I'd like a couple. I'm getting ready to dig up your tree seedlings later in the week!

Stephanie

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Have you down for those Stephanie!

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Stephanie....could I please have some cosmos seeds and shasta daisy? Please see my post above.

Thanks, Kim

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

I have you down as well, Stephanie.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

melva....could I have some lemon thyme and some lemon balm? Mine aren't looking so good.

:) Kim

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Have you down here too.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim~I'm sorry if I missed you earlier! I have you down! Will check your list and get back to you!

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

No problem...thanks so much!

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Mamajack, it is blooming now and it is hotter than blazes. It starts early and stays late. It is all over the pastures and my yard. Want some? I got plenty! Buffalo is right off 45 half way between Houston and Dallas. I am planting zone 8.

Stephanietx, I have plenty of pink hardy hibiscus seeds and will put your name on a pack.

Pbtxlady, I will save spiderworts for you.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks, Charlene! That is amazing that your spiderworts are still blooming. Mine are beautiful while they last. But they're pretty much done by mid-May. Then they're just scraggly the rest of the year. This year, scraggly is an overstatement.

Now, I think I'm still only bringing you unrooted Tropicana cuttings. Please look at my list and see if I can bring you anything else. If not, well, as a rule I don't grow roses, but I do have a big Joseph's Coat. And my dad has a lot of roses that I can take cuttings from. Let me know what you like.

Also... speaking of my dad... He can't garden much any more, but he also does azaleas. So the roses and azaleas get all his attention, and they are just incredibly gorgeous. I can't grow either of them myself, much less propagate them. But I can sure bring unrooted cuttings.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Stephanie, got you down for the coneflowers. LOL. I think the coneflowers are going to take over my car... just like they did their bed. :) Anyway, there are plenty. Also got you down for a scabiosa. Thanks!
