Betty that is an incredible story. Everyone has said it so well. You are one tough compassionate lady.Easy to see why you are so loved.
gardengirl it seems like when it rains it pours. But you know there are better days coming! It is the cycle of life. Really hope you get the job at the nursery. Talk about different work and an income at this time.
Wonder so sorry you are going thru all this. Try the chiropractor. They work miracles. For years I got migraines. Well when they finally started making me throw up I went. The x-ray showed one of my vertabra in my neck turned and at an angle. If that makes any sense. He said it wouldn't of been long before I would of needed surgery. I can't say I am migraine free but have very few and over the counter medication usually takes care of it now. So I consider myself very lucky to have found him. Ask people who they go to and how they like them. That's how I found mine.
I said I would try to get a picture of the stock room. But I am kind of embarassed to post it. It looks like we are a bunch of slobs. Which is far from the truth. Only one or two are lazy out of the 5 of us that work there. In a week or so it will look different.
On the right is the pile of Xmas merchandise and some reg. promo. Over half is what came in wed. The reg. merchandise was put out wed. Walk past the blue u-boat and the is a tiny break area back there.Oh yes what fun!
I was really frustrated at work last night. Having to do things the person before me should of done. Heard the one Asst. Manager refused to do something she was suppose to. It takes alot to frustrate me but last night did. It was the first time in 9 months I really hated my job. I asked the manager if I could take lessons from those 2.LOL It's the unfairness of it that gets me. They can't even keep behind the counter clean which the public sees. I sort and straighten behind there about every other week.
Rant over I'm in a better mood today and here is the picture of the worst end.
Best/worse thing &what did you learn today? Pt.16-friends...
vicki, is this your weekly load? oh my now do you have to check this in by each and every peice or do you just put it out on the floor? eventually some day we'll be ably to just put it out i cant wait!lol now how long will it take you girls to empty out that room? that was a beautiful picture you took colors are stunning
Liz we are lucky and don't have to check in each piece. We are suppose to have all that out by next friday. Now remember we will get another load on wed. Oh yeah a never ending cycle! LOL I love Xmas!
lol we have the same, order day is thursday, monday is load day and all shotages and overages have to be reported in 48 hours ya right vicious cycle every week xmas deals havent arrived yet:)
Well here I am,counting the hours..lol..my mom and step father will be visiting this evening...didn't want to be rude, but they are bringing tile for my kitchen walls, light gray with a few with flowers to insert randomly...I love my country wallpaper but, will accept it with a smile....so that will take care of Friday, Sat. of course craft show & shopping and Sunday the crazy monkey costume..no time for the wicked...
Everyone away at meetings this morning..Suzanne left about5 minutes ago and will be back just before 1 so lots of time to play...
Laura, I was up early and got some of the materials together..will send the soldering iron and stand, fib, some glass, foil and a beginners manual if I can get it all photo copied this morning.as well I get a monthly 'Stained Glass News' so I will photo copy questions asked of the professionals..that also will help...I am including some glass and a pattern for butterfly using bobbles...will do my best to pack the glass..was going to send chemicals as well but don't know that it would be safe or allowed, am sure your DH can purchase solder, flux and you can pick up patina at the glass shop...hoping by this aft. it can be in the post...
Vicki, it's funny that the company would allow the room to become a safety issue..you could very well fall and hurt yourself...look at that sky, isn't God a wonderful painter??? so soothing...we had a sundog in the sky the other night so now I'm waiting for bad weather...seldom wrong...
Liz, thanks for the photo of the t.shirt...similar to the mask..it's embellishments on the costume that I'm trying to do...but seeing the hands has given me a great idea..will purchase a pair and sew them as though the hands are coming out of the costume...maybe add some blood here and there...how long do you think I can run the fogger on 1 little container..looked yesterday for a gallon but everyone has the small containers only..so more expensive..I will try to decorate next weekend which is our Thanksgiving..
Herbie..laughing at your #9...
ves522 - if that room does not hve a sprinkler system something is very wrong.
We understand all that! But you tell me where it is all suppose to go when we are unloading that truck in about 70 minutes. !/3 of that was Xmas stuff from the week before. we do the best we can with the few hours we are allowed to work. It is called " Corporate Greed!"
enough before I get in trouble
Wouldn't you know Laura, I've about 1/4 of the book photo copied and machine down...when Suzanne gets in I'll have her try and have a look at it..if not, I'll mail everything I have and will post the remainder next week...
betty that will be so pretty! doesn't look like it will be that hard either.
Vicki, thought I'd send easy 1-2-3 patterns to start her off..that way it doesn't become overwhelming and she'll progress nicely...morning is long when you keep looking at the computer monitor clock..lol..had hoped I'd be spending most of the morning doing photocopy for Laura..plans do change..lol..
Girlfriend just sent me this, knowing I'm a cat lover...too cute!!!
Excerpts from a Cat's Diary
Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the oher inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. Jerks!!
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power "allergies". I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my
every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now...
Betty, thanks for sharing your story. I am sure it will be an inspiration to others who are feeling overwhelmed. Bad things do happen to good people..the main thing is to know you can survive.
Gitagal's After A While poem was hanging on my wall for years.
Well..you all have been very busy. The costumes you are making will be the best, and I am sure will give your grandkids great memories.
So here is my pumpkin man. I found an inflatable pumpkin at the Dollar store yesterday..so I thought it would be lighter than a real one to sit on top of the stuffed overalls. I'll run up the road today and buy some real ones for decorating the front step...and some of those fancy gourds too. I'm hoping some friends will drop by on the weekend to pick some apples. Wish you could all come and get some. I ahve Ida Reds and Spys. I just made some applesauce and juice.
Enjoy the weekend all..
Cheers,
Carol
Carol, he's adorable, never thought about an inflatable pumpkin..you know, with all this halloween spirit going around I don't know when I'll be able to rest...need to stay home and decorate..lol..do you dry your gourd and use them for birdhouses later??? I've about 8 just sitting there saying 'paint me/paint me' !
If I wasn't working I think I'd organize a group of friends and we'd all visit each other's house as a group and decorate/paint/housework etc. would be so much fun..but alas, for now, I'm on my own....
well i did the longest post i have ever done and when i clicked send it just crashed! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
OMG betty that cat thing was so funny.... lol i needed that.
Betty you are too kind. honestly i can go a buy somthings once i know what to get. a soldering iron as well??? is your power the same as ours? I know that america is different but not sure about canada. the butterfly looks amazing, i do love them, they are my thang!
Betty i am still thinking about that story you told, are you ok after sharing it? i found at the psycologists that digging up some of the past was unpleasant and it can linger. I appreciate that you shared it. what i gained from it is that we all have hard times to go through, we have to find a coping mechanism to get through and thats what i have to do too. i am going to the docs on wednesday to get more xrays to see what is causing the pain in my hip and back and go from there.
It must have been hard for you to tell that story in many ways and i love you all the more for it.
How amazing you are betty.
You know i believe that the things that we go through can serve to make us better people if we let it.
whilst I dont think that God made it all happen, i think that He can use it in the long run. I think he knew that your well Betty would need to be deep as many would come to drink from you. I think He saw what you would go through and that you would deg deep to get through it and that He would be able to fill that well and send those who need it your way. I think that you are His hands, His heart, His compassion in this world Betty. I think He is really proud of you. You are just wonderful, you give from every part of who you are wether it be materially or emotionally or spiritually and we love you all the more for it. We get what we need for the day to keep us going. I ask that He keeps filling that well Betty so that you will only ever know His abundance.
posted that bit so i didnt lose it again.
My Dd's came over yesterday and saw the xmas balls. they marvelled at the workmanship and said. mum can these be an heirloom and we have one each when your gone? you know how kids can be with the who 'when your gone' thing but i thought it a great compliment to your work.
I love that we each have a little of each other in our lives and day today activities. we are a community arnt we tho we dont live close?
wether it be a gift that is sent, a plant that we but that one of you have chatted about, a pattern shared and made. it means that a little of each of us goes with the others. nice!
well its early and everyone is still asleep. i dont sleep much how about you?
i meant to ask and sorry if i did i cant remeber. so you all have land or do some of you live in suburbia? our blocks are small suburban blocks.
love to see some more pics of homes and garden... how about it?
well have a good day
x
I have to take some photos of the stained glass I have done. I will try to do it this weekend so I can share it next week!
evening all,
betty one of those pint should last a few days it depends how long you run the machine i run mine for 4 hours a night so im constantly filling them up that why i stock pile so much at the end of season everyone have a great evening liz
Hello there...
ByndeweekBeth..looking forward to seeing your stained glass...
So enjoy doing it..so difficult isn't it to divide ones time into so many different crafts...
Laura, you sound up today and that's wonderful..as for the curling iron
it's100w-120v, 60Hz...perhaps if our hydro current is different there are adapters or are there...maybe your DH would know...tell the girls I thank them for their praise..it's no talent..just a process, believe me anyone can do those xmas balls...but it's nice to think someone thinks I'm talented..lol...
Got home today and found that I had a house full..grandsons were off school today PTA day, has a sitter and decided for lunch they'd ride their bikes to the pizza shop..while there we had heavy rains so the boys told their sitter that it would be fine to visit..as I don't lock doors, it made it simple entry...so it rained for about 2 hours, finally my DIL gets off early on Fridays and came over to pick them up and they decided just to sit on the back deck and enjoy the view..so it was nice coming home to company... Kyle and Melanie left for Meaford for the weekend while Noah spent the rest of the afternoon with me until Greg got off work..Noah has 2 hockey games tomorrow and he didn't want to miss them..you should see his face, almost unrecognizable...poison OAK, apparently he and 9 other boys were having a leaf fight at recess, rubbing each others face with leaves, they had no idea that they were poison oak leaves..they do know now...felt so sorry for him...so while waiting for Greg I cut out the monkey costume only to find out I need another meter..$36.98 (again) and Noah fell in love with the clown suit and wants an identical one so I must order another evil clown mask and that of a monkey..I'll be broke by the time Halloween comes..now Kyle, he'll be a challenge, he wants to be a coke machine..hmmmm so he'll be over to visit and we'll go through what he needs...
I offered to cook Greg and Noah supper but Greg insisted that he'd go to the restaurant a few doors down and pick up something to eat...lucky me, I had greek salad and chicken souvlaki..delicious..still have enough for tomorrow night...
Received a few calls from girlfriends all deciding to go to Meaford 1 1/2 hr drive for a day of crafting and shopping..well, ended up 7 girls in a car that seats 4..so now we're 2 cars going...so much more fun when you are in a group...now I have room to put bargoons when I shop...
Was going through craft boxes to see what treasures I can find to finish a few projects and lo and behold I found about 20 of the oak leaves I had prepared last year with glicerine to paint scenery on them...just what I need, more projects...think I had even purchased the matt frames for them...do you think I'll ever get caught up????
So tonight I'm rather tired...must be up and at it tomorrow morning as we're leaving about 7:45am..Anne has to be back by 4:30 but that's ok..rather rush our outing than her not being able to come....
Do hope you've all enjoyed your day...God willing, I'll be gabbing a mile a minute tomorrow telling you all about my craft finds....
Betty you are too remarkable for me to put into words. Thank you for sharing your life and your joys and sorrows with us.
My friend Bev is like you in that she always does everything for everyone, she is so nice and generous and always thinking of everyone who is special to her. When she moves, 25 volunteers come to help her so they can give back. She is the one who has the meetings I told you about at her house. It is so positive and uplifting. Like you.
I love this group, they are all great.
Betty? curling iron?????
not sure about the adaptor, will ask hubby but im pretty sure we could get them.
Ahhhhh, geesh.....no sleep for me tonight, and nobody up to talk with.
Not sure why I am having such a sleepless night......just know that sleep will not come. Maybe I am too tired, maybe just don't need the sleep, but I really do not like times like this.
Nothing else to add.....but I hope your night is much better than mine.
Could be the full moon shining in all my windows.
I think Shar it's all the excitement of having DD back with you, emotions come back to the surface....full moon could be tricking your lovely self into thinking that it's day time...
Laura, meant to say soldering iron..DH could find out...
I must make a mental note here to try and find 'Tangiegirls' telephone number..perhaps with name and address I can get it from the operator..I'm really concerned about her...
Well must get myself ready, must look beautiful for all the crafting and shopping I'll do today..lol...
Talk tonight...
morning all,
betty, now you have my curiosity up what is that oak leaf you were refering to? can you show us a pic sounds like a fun project and your going shopping with the girls oh how fun will that be find lots of baragins...
shar, probably the excitement of having someone there in the house hope you can get some naps in during the day so you dont feel to tired
dawn did you finish all the painting lucky you i have to wait till the spring:(
laura, your sounding better any special plans this weekend i know i have to get busy outside as soon as the sun comes out! now there are two people who have their houses all light up and decorated for halloween im so jealous (im not competive) lol
best for yesterday: dh had his 6 mth viral load test with his liver doctor still no virus was detected and he is in the 75% bracket of people who are cured that was good news.
it was sad to hear the doctor say that after 6mths if people who have hepatitis c dont respond to this treatment they are taken off, and they can do no more for them.
im so thankful kenny is cured but it wont be until febuary the'll stop the treatment,
its for precaution to make 100% sure the virus is dead ,poor guy had a rough night last night didnt get no sleep oh boy going to be a testy day for me lol
everyone have a fun day liz
Good Morning all!
So I hope I am to have a very relaxing wekend! DH & DS are on their semi-annual father/son camping trip so it is just DD, dogs and me!
Last night I went to the movies with my neighbors - saw The Game Plan with "The Rock". Predictable but a very cute and entertaining movie. DD stayed home with a girlfriend while I was there - or course she called me twice during the movie to see when I was coming home. NEVER! :) She had plans to go to a church "lock-down" last night at a local gym. The church was sponsoring the event for middle schoolers - $30 to spend the night, play on all the equipment, swim, play volleyball, raquetball, hot tub, etc. PLUS eat pizza! So I got home at 9:30 from the movies and promptly got back in the car and dropped her and a group of girls off at 10pm.
I then came home and had the house to myself!!!! ANIMAL PLANET ALL NIGHT! HAd to get up this morning and pick DD and girls up by 7am (UGH!). So now DD and a friend are fast asleep on the couch - this because they did not sleep AT ALL last night. So since I figure she will be pretty much worthless to me today, I left DD sleeping and her girlfriend watching TV and ran right back out to the grocery store to do my shopping before the crowds hit. Now they are both asleep and all I want to do is get them upstairs so I can veg on the sofa! LOL. Actually, I'm going to head outside and plant some pansies and cabbages while it's quiet.
So, I will try and check back in later today. Everyone, have a wonderful day!!
Jeannine
Wow! Talk about some busy people - not to mention kind and caring! This thread is so uplifting. Unfortunately, there is no way I can thoroughly read everything and comment so I sort of skimmed and enjoyed what I could.
Maybe one of these days I will get on top of things - yeah, right!!!
(Jeanine, I do have to say that I strongly relate to you with the problem of imagining bad things happening - I've taken anti-depressants for years, but have never been able to stop that little problem . . . I try to start singing or something just to divert myself! And boo hiss to Tom Cruise - what an absolute jerk!!!)
I think he should retire for a few years!
My list for today has changed. It's starting to rain. Yesterday they said nice for today. Was all primed to work out side. Now I have to turn the list around and start the inside chores.
DB sent me an email asking about my weekend. He's coming to visit but he's at work right now. So today or tomorrow. That's a good thing. I'd better get started cleaning.
You all have a great day.
Well I'm back..had a great day..am going to settle in and then will post to each and everyone of you...so many bargoons..lol..came home with car full..I'll post a few...
About 3 minutes into arriving at building 1 I fell in love with metal Blue Herons...large was $100, med. $75 and small $50..if you bought all 3 you got them for $175.00 well thought they'd look fantastic in my garden..but which garden..just shoved them in the ground for now till all the girls are here Monday and they can relocate to an area agreed upon...lol...
Liz, OMG how relieved you must be to hear the news about DH...what a weight to be living under for these past months...will continue to pray for him...
About the leaves...last fall I picked leaves, treated them with glicerine, had them between pages in telephone book, rotated once a week for a few months, then left them cure...they feel almost like leather..am able to paint scenes on them now...
Made a side trip to Midland to pick up another 3/4 meter of furry material to finish cutting the monkey pattern...as Noah wanted to be an 'evil clown' same as Braedon, I picked up material to do his as well..so my thoughts are, have a bath, have supper, finish cutting out both costumes and retire for the night, but not before I drop in on you all....sure hope your day was as great as mine....
evening all,
jeannine, sounds like you had a nice relaxing day after the girls went out for the count lol
murmer, dont worry come join in when ever you can have a great rest of the weekend
vicki, rain your way that puts a damper on things when you have your heart set on working out doors.
betty, you most certainly came home with some beautys, the herons are a work of art where were you going to put those and that metal chair and all the goodies yep you struck gold today.. now you have me real curious on those leaves did you just rub glicerine oil on them? what was the process just facinating.
its 7.41 and were just putting the ribs on the bbq late night dinner for us lol we put halloween things out but dh said he was concerned this year that we might have some trouble so we had to go to home depot and get some lumber and put up a gate to keep the kids out so we had to stop for a few hours to do this
then we went to a halloween harvest fair at this ladys house beautiful things the ladies made i got a well it isnt a candle you light you put it in a window and the sun or direct light makes the oil smell its called a window candle well it had a rather intoxicating smell to it couldnt place the smell well after being in the garage most of the afternoon i came in the kitchen to be amaised it really omitted aroma i took it down to see what it said ony to find out it was patchoulli omg so i told dh what it was so in he came only to be a wise guy and say omg it smells like haigt ashbury in here reminds me of the hippie era
so with that going to cook some corn everyone have a wonderful evening liz
Ohhh..lots of goodies Betty. I always say whan I come across something I can't be without.."It talked to me"
I'll bet those Blue Herons "talked to you" LOL
I think they would look great near your pond. Glad you had a fun day..the weather was beautiful here. I had two familes come to pick apples. The kids had a ball driving around on the Lil' Deere lawn tractor.
I'll post some pics when I get them ready.
Liz..I haven't seen those window candles here..sounds interesting. How wonderful to have a husband who can just whip up a gate in an afternoon. I went and got some little gourds and a small pumpkin yesterday for decoration on the front step. I might go get a bale of hay to put beside my Pumpkin fella on the front lawn.
Cheers,
Carol
