Thought I'd move us over...
Best/worse thing &what did you learn today? Pt.16-friends...
Not a happy camper...just spent 1/2 hr. writting a book only to decide I should look back at previous posts not wanting to forget anyone and voila..cyberspace has my post..do you ever learn?
That's how I can start this post...how many of you do same? or am I the only forgetful one?
So might not recapture my train of thought but here it goes...
Liz..took a few minutes out this morning to bring in a few books on fall and winter projects so I could go through them here at work..just opened one of the pages and it it a silhouette of a large witch, bent over with blackbirds on her shoulder..bent over a cauldron..took photo on this labtec here in the office..not sure it will work but I'll see if the photo can be sent..if you like it, don't have it (probably do) I could send or fax you the pattern..I'm sure there is still a couple of inches on your front lawn that needs something lol...
Vicki, is that the backhill you were working so diligently on this spring..bet it was beautiful this summer...now are you cutting down the main plant or deadheading..gee I looked at the gardens this morning and it still looks so pretty, but know the frost will be here within the next few weeks so I must do same...thought of purchasing some bulbs over the weekend..one last attempt to keep gardening alive...am going to do a large arrangement with pine, cedar, poinsiettas (plastic of course) in the large frame..should look pretty decorated with snow...hope you are enjoying your rain day!!!
wow, Jeannine..$1,600 is mega money..and he thought that would be the good news..lordy, how much is a tranni? Surely can't be more than that..guess you truly need the 4 wheel drive with the towing of the boat right?
Liz, tried the cement gloves, do you purchase cement with no stones for that project..I left it to dry for the better part of a week but the fingers broke..silly me, threw them in the garbage..would have looked nice in a graveyard...just not thinking...
Murmur..lucky you, a DH that cooks..sure do miss my cook...he followed his fathers' footsteps..his dad did gardening in their retirement years..sold veggies/berries etc all summer and canned everything and sold pickles/beats/jams/etc all winter..made a good living from it...the only thing I don't miss is Roger bringing in bushels/bushels of tomatoes and other products for canning..he'd do most of it..but talk about cleaning I had to do afterwards...am looking forward to seeing that new grandaughter of yours..bet she's grown inches just in the past few weeks...your family is indeed lucky to have you...don't forget to spoil yourself though..not always them...
Dawn, are you feeling any better, sure hope so..not seeing you post much on any of the threads..do take care..we miss you...Judy just dropped me an d-mail..said she's busy at work but will add her 'hi' later today...Laura..how did work go yesterday and which night is your stained glass course..so anxious to hear how you enjoy it..hope you are feeling better as well...sending Tangiegirl a card at lunch along with her ornaments..not with it this morning..wouldn't one think they should put the card in the ornament box rather than post a box and then a card..duh...Shar..you must be back and resting..how did your little mini vacation go with family..do hope you enjoyed it...does Ethan come up to visit this weekend? If so, you've a lot of planning to do...lol
Bluekat..how is school going? know your plate is full but drop us a few lines when able..like to know you are doing ok...miss you!
Woodspirit1..how's work going..any better since you spoke with the boss?
Gitagal, Byndeweek Bethn Heathrjoy and Gessiegail..we didn't scare you off did we or 'I' ..just join in..I have a habit of talking too much..guess it's living along and having so much time on my hands here at work..do enjoy your posts..don't want to overwhelm you new friends...
Starzz, did you get that pot planted..flowering kale looks lovely along with mums..
In bed early last night..didn't do my final post..so here goes it :
Best of the day:
Cliff and Bernice brought over the B&B sign..lovely..it's about 4'wide by 6' tall..already on 4x4's to cement in the ground..while with pillar type style..insert in middle with roses and very victorian writting..says "Beyond the Garden Gate" and then a 2nd piece, a lady dressed in her finest garden dress, hat, gloves and gets attached at the back of the garden sign...now I have to decided where I'll put it..don't want it directly in front of the house so I'll check things out tonight and do it on the weekend...
Then, it's been about 6 months since the middle shelf of my refrigerator just cracked..went into Sears, brought the pieces with me and was told they'd send me a new one...no go, finally yesterday after many calls, the delivered the new shelf.... so happy fridge days for me..now much clean out those science projects tonight as well....lol...
Worse: guess it was the headache
What did I learn...even though I don't cook, should probably put food in refrigerator that's not outdated before my boys drop in and think I can't afford 'food' lol
Love the Halloween decorations Betty! My favorite holiday
Guess you gussy up the place for your daughter...what are you up to today Trop..busy?
honestly, I was going to take a day for shopping....looking for satiny and silky things..lol...one of those moods
We do decorate a bit...probably about time...was thinking of being either a pirate, convict, or nun this year...DD is talking about some 'High School Musical' character.....sigh...who writes programming for kids these days?
Hope 43 posted the following on our last thread..thought I'd move it over....
hope this is not wrong place but thought it might be help
The Weight Of The Past
Regret
Holding onto regret is like dragging the weight of the past with us everywhere we go. It drains our energy, leaving less available for life in the present because we are constantly feeding an old issue. This attachment can cause illness the same way watering a dead plant creates decay. We know that something new and beautiful can grow in its place if we only prepare the soil and plant the right seeds. We also know that we create our lives from our thoughts, so dwelling on the past may actually recreate a situation in our lives where we are forced to make the choice again and again. We can choose to move on right now by applying what we have learned to the present and perhaps even sharing with others, transforming the energy into something that is constructive and creative for ourselves and others.
Forgiveness is the soothing balm that can heal regret. In meditation, we can imagine discussing the issue with the self of our past and offering our forgiveness for the choice. In return, we can ask for our selves’ forgiveness for keeping them locked in that space of judgment for so long. We may also want to ask forgiveness from anyone else who may have been affected and perhaps offer our forgiveness. By replaying the event in our minds, we can choose a new ending using all that we now know. Imagine that you have actually gone back into the past and made this change, and then say goodbye to it. Release your former self with a hug and bring the forgiveness and love back with you to the present. Since we are usually our harshest critics, it is amazing how powerfully healing it can be to offer ourselves love.
Keeping our minds and our energy fully in the present allows us to fuel our physical and emotional healing and well-being today. This action frees our energy to create the dreams we dream for the future. By taking responsibility and action in the present, we can release our hold on the past.
or?
Thanks Twyla for sharing the above...so very profound..
"Online we meet new people from all around the world. Some we chat with just once and then we go on. Others we chat with time and time again, and a friendship is made. Others become our e-mail buddies, and we look forward to their e-mails each day, but have you ever really wondered who was really behind the keyboard?
So often we meet a friend in chat we stay up all night chatting, sometimes we laugh so hard we cannot type, other times we cry and our keyboards are stained from tears. We chat about our lives and help solve each others' problems, we lend a shoulder if we can. Did you ever think to yourself, who is really behind that keyboard?
Did you ever chat with someone that promised you the world and that your friendship will be forever, and then they are gone? Do you forget about them and move on, or do you wonder "who was that person really, that was behind the keyboard?
Have you ever hid behind your keyboard, pretending to be something you are not, just to boost your ego? As you sat there and typed have you ever lied, thinking "who cares, the person behind the keyboard, it is only a fake person?" Did you ever hurt someone thinking "it's only a game"?
Well, behind each and every keyboard are very real people, some might be heartless cold people, not caring who they hurt, but then there are people that are caring, loyal, honest and all kinds of people hoping for some companionship online.
Behind the keyboard can be someone who is seriously depressed and their only hope is to make a friend, maybe an aging person who once had a family, but now they live too far apart to see one another, perhaps there is someone that cannot walk anymore or a person so ill they are in the house forever.
As we enter the world of the internet we should remember, it is a very real world and behind each and every keyboard is a person who has a heart. No one has a life that is pain free, so as we go online whether in chat or just e-mailing, we must remember to treat each person the way the we want to be treated, to respect each others' feelings, and to offer friendship, because the truth is we really do not know who is behind the keyboard or what kind of hurt someone may be feeling. To be the best to others that you can be should be the "key" to a good, honest life."
-Author Unknown-
Betty- You always post the most inspirational things. I'm so glad that the 'real you' is just as nice as the 'internet you'. We really enjoyed our visit though it was too short.
Hope - One of my favourite quotes is "Against the irrationality of violence it is necessary to propose the irrationality of forgiveness" - Leonel Narvaez. DH and I joke about the fact that I can't hold grudges because I'm too lazy and it takes too much energy. It's also critical to forgive ourselves and give ouselves 'permission' to make mistakes.
Tropic - Hearing about your family helps to remind me of one of the advantages of living in such a remote area. We are somewhat removed from some of the family dramas.
Well, we had a birthday party for DS on Saturday. Four of his friends came and we had a fun time. DS was a little anxious for the party to start though so he set the clock ahead by about 10 - 15 minutes. We didn't realize until part way through the party (after we had rushed through some of the games so we could fit everything in). When we realized what he had done we then encouraged the kids to take as much time as they wanted to eat their cake etc. It turned out well though.
Now DD is talking about doing a scary party for Hallowe'en. She'll use any excuse for a party. Two years ago we did a scary party and made a haunted house in a room in the basement. Last year we were too busy preparing for the baby but I think we may do it again this year.
Ella is officially a walker. She had taken a couple of steps a few weeks ago but was very unsteady. She's really figured things out now though. She also likes to climb - as you'll notice in the picture I'm posting.
Best - Finding out yesterday that DH doesn't need a mentor for a course he's taking.
Worst - I can't think of anything.
What I learned - Ella needs to be watched like a hawk.
I don't know how much a transmission would cost and I don't think I want to find out!! Actually, we do not use 4WD fro pulling the boat. We don't even use 4WD much at all - maybe once a year at the beach. I'm not positive if the prob was actually in the 4WD system or if the sound was just that system trying to kick in because of another system problem. I'll get my DH to get all the details when we pick it up tonight.
On the job front I applied for 2 admin jobs today outside of my company so we'll see.
What a gorgeous day here..I sat outside and had my lunch and read a magazine.
I planted some marigolds in that little pot..just moved them from the veggie garden.
I am looking after my two grandaughters this week after school till 10:30 pm.
I had another stab at canning..made some red pepper relish from a receipe from a friend..I only got two pints from it. Very disappointed. ..but it tastes good.I'll have to call her tonight and check with her.
Some nice sentiments posted above..by Betty and Hope43. Thanks I enjoyed reading them.
Betty..so are you planning to contniue on with being a B&B? or will you just use the sign for decoration in the garden?
Gillibean..you will be kept busy now with the baby walking for sure.
Gardengirl..good luck with finding the job you want. Car problems can drive one crazy..what a lot of money..but we can't do without our cars.
Cheers,
Carol
Starzz, yes I do want to continue with the B&B..just feel I need to do a little more with the house...have accomplished quite a bit over the past month but would like to finish a few more projects..with fall and winter on it's way, I'll focus joining the B&B groups in early spring..that way I'll be ready...I did so enjoy my B&B guests last month..so this weekend, will try to get the sign up..will take photo for you all...
Gilly..how nice to see you post..how very kind you are..makes me feel special..I did so enjoy my visit with your family..hope you felt at home! Now look at Miss Ella, my goodness you were holding her when you visited...my goodness she's grown..any more thoughts on perhaps teaching closer to home next year? What are you up to, know you are busy with the children, but you usually have other projects in hand? What will you be doing for Christmas...doubt you'd be able to come home...not travelling weather for sure....
Made it to the post office at lunch so sent off the parcels..couldn't believe it, quite a bit more to send parcels to Canada versus USA..even less to Australia...don't understand the reasoning..so Starzz..yours she said should be there by Thurs. had to send i t in a different package so please let me know if they made it in one piece...
Don't want to harp on the decorations, but because so many of you join in from time to time and you are all very special to me, I would hate to not to have sent you 2 tree decorations....just let me know if you wish to receive a set...last weeks shipment Gardengirl,Lizrainey,WonderdownUnder,101 today...Tangiegirl, Shar,Starzz,Kay Jones... next mail out Dawn/Murmur,Tropicanna,Seedtosser- sending yours shortly...dressed for winter and I'm a cooking..will have to layer dress tomorrow..lol
Betty,
I CANNOT keep up with all the long Posts here--no matter how I try. Just don't have time to read them all, even though, I find what some of you people share very touching and I admire all the talents of YOU and others. It is interesting--but I feel like a distant onlooker with you all. I would have almost NOTHING to share! Maybe I don't want to....
This Thread seems to be such a L-O-N-G personal, daily journal of a handful of people. You all have the "thing" going here! It is almost a "private" Thread. You all have a BOND, and that is wonderful.
I spend a lot of time on the "Mid Atlantic Forum" and also communicating with Frank. Even he gave up trying to follow this Forum. Too long.
I regularly check out other gardening Forums and lurk into the Daves Garden Forum now and then to keep up to date on what HE is doing. It is a good idea to do that, you know!
SO! Carry on, Mates! I shall remain an "onlooker".....
Gita
So sorry Gita..know you posted from time to tim as did Frank..would surely hate to think that anyone wouldn't fit in or be offended..we talk a lot about our day/arts & crafts, cooking, famil life etc.just as friend so.. but, have so much more to offer each other... lifetimes of living good time and bad times....we (or I) ramble on, give each other support where needed...filling in the time of day...and would do same for any individual who would like to join us...most certainly not a private group..we welcome onlookers with open arms..each become special to us..guess one cannot post 'the best, worse and what you learned without opening yourself to others...do hope though, from time to time, without having to catch up on posts, simply to say 'hi'
hi all,
sorry you feel that way gitgal, we try and include everyone and make them feel welcome. We do download and share, sometimes long sometime a quick hello but always thoughtful and friendly. Your always welcome, this is not a private group or a click, just friends opening their arms to the world. join in anytime long or short!
Betty, your so thoughtful. The gang will love the christmas balls as i do. You want to know a funny thing? My husband called me at work and said a package has arrived for you from canada. i said well im expecting one from america but not sure about canada. thought you were from america, didnt know where victoria harbour was and what ON stood for!!!! geography was never my strong subject. lol
now someone asked me a few posts ago where i think the nightmares are coming from, i think its still just the stress from work. had more last night about work. have been looking for jobs and plenty i can go for but i find i am fearful. never been like that but it seems my confidence is somewhat shaky. will work through it.
Betty, told my husband about the goodies your sending and that your going to teach me how to make lead light and such, and he said he would help me to learn to cut the glass, that if i could get that 'down' that it would be a good help. he is so cute.
That witch and couldron look amazing! whats in the pot?
Betty cant wait to see the sign post, sounds devine!
Starzz I see now that you are from ON too... lol, did you know that there is a newcastle over here too and betty you know that i live in victoria!!
Look at that little one in the window... soooo cute... dont you just love the stripe suit? heh too cute.
well, hope you are all well, popped in and said hi to frank, he has a prayer request going as there has been a death in the family so you might want to nip over there and leave a post.
have a good day all.
x
Laura, thank you kindly for the d-mail...brought me to tears...
I went out shopping after work, 2 more tops - aqua and brown just wanted to come home with me...just got in and it's Tuesday night t.v. bingo, so off to win the $2,000 jackpot lol...will come back and post later this evening..imagine, I'm going to stay up beyond 9pm..new show on, how to make 'fat' people sexy in the raw ??? can you image, another reality show..well maybe I'll just peek in and see..can't figure out why I want to be sexy in the raw though..lol.....see you later...
a nice day..cooled down really quick and I needed a jacket!
Best: enjoyed myself shopping and actually found some really soft sweaters already..and some other nice things :)
no worst
what I learned:this is kinda funny but I went into Bath & Body Works --I love bath stuff---so I had to basically check out all the new stuff...but by the time I left my nose was so itchy from all the different scents...lol
I don't know about you guys but I'm picky about how things smell..don't like anything overpowering
Betty, lol, you know I want to hear about that show...so much cooler TV in Canada
well lovely people, no jackpot, not even close..oh well...can't win them all...Bath & Body works...sounds wonderful..Trop you are not suppose to be sampling everyone..my goodness, you must wreak ..lol...never purchase good quality bath supplies, girlfriend last christmas gave me the loveliest leather case which can be used and is used for book rack..was full of lovely soaps/body lotions/hand creams etc. took forever for me to take the plastic off of it..looked so pretty..she was visiting one day and opened it up and said I must use it..still sitting pretty on the corner of my vanity...maybe tonight I'll treat myself...
Were they wool sweaters Trop..checked the show, it's on at 10:00 pm..goodness I'll never make! It's from the USA, not canadian so it must be on some of your channels...just thought it was comical...
Laura, now you get out a canadian map and look up Newcastle and Victoria Harbour!!! you gotta know where your friends live...
I will try and find time to go through some materials and do up a package...want to see first though what equipment or supplies your instructor will make you purchase before I sent out duplicates..but promise..I'll look for something simple for you...my SIL I work with never attempted stained glass..well she decided for Christmas she'd do a lamp for her SIL..well the book I have codes the projects from 1 to 5..she picks a 4..lol..guess you might as well go for the gusto right..anyway her lamp had mallard ducks on it and it turned out A1..so have no doubt you can accomplish much...
Now don't you dare let work bring you down..your self esteem must not suffer...you are as good as any!..look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself how special you are.. As Joel Olsteen says..."you are HIS most prize possession..you are a child of God...get rid of those negative, destructive thoughts...life has a way to push us down through rejection, unfair things have happened to you, you've had disappointments and setbacks and you end up not feeling good about yourself...know you have to anchor your thoughts...you are valuable, talented, creative....stay on the offensive..declare your value..expect good things because good things are in store for you!" reprogram your thoughts..replace the negative with thoughts of hope and victory....if you don't set your mind the first part of the day, the enemy will set it for you! If somebody speak negative to you, don't allow it to take root by dwelling on it...
On the lighter side, the sign will look nice..must sand it down, give it a fresh coat of paint, secure it and plant some flowers around it...posting a photo as is..remember...need to work on it...
Now for my evening post...
Best..talking with Caleb and Braedon..thought they'd call grandma and tell her what they want to be for Halloween..so it's shopping for patterns and material this weekend..Caleb wants to be a crazy bear (not quite sure what crazy bear is but I'll try) also reminded me I still have to pick up his birthday gift..he wants 360 game..Sims2..could not figure out what he was telling me..finally he said 'grandma I'll spell it out for you'...this old gal better get with it... Braedon wants to be an evil clown with ripped clothes and a dead flower...black, dark purple and red...
Worse...talked to Lisa..her sister was 34..her mom and dad are not taking it well..she had cancer for 1 year..Lisa is pregnant and her due date is late January..hoping for a girl...had a nice talk with her..still my DIL...
What did I learn..few problems came up with regards to the Barrie building...sure am hoping they can be worked out..Paul meeting with owners either tomorrow or Thursday...
Trop..I kept typing in hopes to make it closer to 10pm...lol...maybe I will make it and can tell you all about it...
evening all,

betty, i love that sign how exciting, oh the cement hands my fingers broke to d.h said i should use concrete with the rocks and to use some instalation wire in the fingers for strength im so dissapointed with that project maby over the weekend i'll try again, oh i would love to have that pattern, that witch that was so cool oh i always can find a little more room lol, maby you'll win next week boy are you going to be busy sewing halloween costumes sounds like you got your weekend all maped out

best: got asked to work at another branch today which was great!!! nice break. hard work as your on your feet all day but i didnt care, i was away from you know who. would love to transfer there but no openings... yet!
worst: sore feet, going to soak them soon.
Betty i havnt gone to the class as i have to pay $45 just to attend as for what i need, i am going to buy a soldering iron, i have a glass cutter that looks like a pen kinda. ummm what else do i need? you let me know and i will see what i have.... so you know.
well have a great night tho your all probably sleeping.
xx
Did I tell you girls I'm seeing five gentlemen! Maybe I forgot to tell you...
As soon as I wake up WILL POWER helps me get out of bed. Then I go to see JOHN. Then Charlie Horse comes along, and when he is here he takes a lot of my time and attention. When he leaves, Art Ritis shows up and stays the rest of the day. He doesn't like to stay in one place very long, so he takes me from joint to joint.
After such a busy day, I'm really tired and glad to go to bed with Ben Gay .
What a life!
Oh yes, I'm also flirting with Al Zymer.
Hi Betty,
Your package arrived this morning. Canda Post sure is fast. Thank you so very much for this pre Christmas gift. They are exquisite! All your friends here will be thrilled when they see the detail. So beautiful. You have so much talent.
I am so appreciative of being included in your generous gift giving. I will hang them in a place of honour so they can be admired by friends and family..and I will have a little story to tell them about who painted and gifted them.
I can't wait to see what you do to decorate your B&B sign.
Here they are for all to admire.
Thank you so very much.
Hugs,
Carol
My goodness, I only mailed them out on my lunch yesterday at 1:30pm..less than 24hrs...hmmm...nice colors and sparkles aren't showing up..glad you will enjoy them on your tree...and it was my pleasure! Are you getting much the same as we are here in Toronto..high 80's..lets hope that this weekend it will be same soI can put the gardens to bed..as for the sign, it needs a bit of work but I'm hoping toput a garden around it so it won't be the focal point..any ideas??? your little areas are gorgeous..one day next spring I'll take a run over...
Betty, loved hearing about your boyfriends..lol
DId you watch the show? I've not seen it advertised but there's so much on cable I don't really explore. Trailer Park Boys is Canadian and the funniest show I've ever watched (we get it thru netflix)...and then there's Sue Johannson, a woman I admire deeply :)
Trop..it was an english show..yes I watched it all but must have dozed off the last 10 minutes of it..the host (sooooo gay-white sunglasses..quite a card) take a participant who is overweight, goes through their wardrobe..even cutting up panties..took scissors to her clothing she was wearing to show her just how the excess clothing on her body looked, took her shopping, bought more appropriate clothing, showed how even shoes could make you look slimmer..put her into an excersizing program/sent her to beautician etc.etc. and by the time the show was over she posed and looked ever so attractive...and looked like she had lost mega weight even though she had not...I'd watch it again except that it's on so late....good tips though...
I like the sound of that. Anything where people feel better about themselves is usually fun to watch
those fellas with white sunglasses tell it how it is, though..lol. My mom's a hairdresser (not to bow to stereotype here, but so obviously I grew up around alternative lifestyles)...she has a friend I just love to watch work. One day he was cutting a guys hair and the man had given him specific instructions on how he wanted his hair done. When the cut was done, he asked om's friend if it looked good. He said, "**** no, it looks like ****. I ain't gonna lie to you whether you pay me or not." He fixed his hair and it did look better :)
Sorry to butt in...this thread just caught my eye and I had to say Carol's ornaments caught my eye too, they are *fabulous*!!
Beautiful...great work, Betty...I'm impressed!
I would *buy* those if I were to see them!
(gasp!) and I thought Will Power was exclusively *mine*! (actually, it's the lack of him!)
Trop..lol...don't you appreciate honesty..hated it if I asked or someone else asked what he thought about outfit or do..be prepared because he'd tell you just what he thought..wasn't always positive...
Nan, thanks for the compliments..glad you dropped in..thread is for everyone..as stated before wether for a few comments or joining in for a 'gab' session..you are always welcome...and what kind of weather are you enjoying today..spent some time in your fair state as I was travelling to Minnesota to see friends near St.Cloud..absolutely loved it...especially loved all the little lakes, reminds me of home! Somewhere in your state just after crossing state line into your state there was a small village..finsih later must leave

Thanks, Betty...well, it's a nice late-summer day in the 70's after some (more) bad storms last night...scary stuff!
Yes, Wisconsin is indeed a beautiful state, especially here in the Southwest.
The state is actually *full* of little villages, I live near a few, myself.
The town where we attend church, buy gas, etc....is the 2nd largest in this county and has a whopping six hundred fifty some of a population!
The largest town/city is just over six thousand....so we live in a very rural 'agriculture oriented' part of the state.
Sorry Nan, had to leave work to catch my ride..or it would be a long 100 mile walk...lol...the town I was thinking of again was close to Minnesota border..had big/big tea pot tower..looked very dutch..lovely village..hated to leave...remember that we also on our way..took a back road..about 2 1/2 hr. drive into absolutely nowhere..there sat a motel and restaurant so we spent the night...drove about 3 hrs. only to find out I had left my wallet in a drawer...called the hotel and they set it aside for me..should have had them send it to me in Minnesota...so on our way home we had to take that long trip in the wilderness again...guess who wasn't thrilled...lol...
well, it's that time of night..hope you've all enjoyed your day...
Best..busy at work today for everyone..funny, we took lunch at 3:10-got back at 4:10 and left at 4:45..short afternoon....
Worse...tried to help out a couple who lost their home, jobs etc. they were just devastated..worried about bankruptcy..the worst of it was they owned a house and came and saw us in March..family talked them out of it..at that time we could have saved them their home..they waited toooo long...felt so bad...man was in tears..
What did I learn today...well one of my BIL's and SIL (not my favorites..quite a story there) had a house in Barrie...back a few months ago 2 nurses in the Barrie hospital won 35 million dollars tax free , anyway, they worked with my SIL at the hospital..they made an offer a few weeks ago to purchase their home for 1.5 million...which they agreed upon...this week came back and told them to make a price on everything..wants Rene and Noreen to walk out just with personal things...so they've agreed...now isn't that something and they say you always get what you deserve..no likely in this case...have a bit of bitterness with these 2...
Anyway..off I go...
evening all,
betty, oh just look at that picture of those, you did a lovely job on those ornaments i couldnt believe the craftmanship that went into them betty you are an artist..that was a good story on the gentlemen, rene and noreen there going to leave all their things behind dont know if i could do that..

oh laura im glad you got to work in another place must of been nice for you to relax
hi everyone. i still check out this forum from time to time and i do enjoy reading up on all my friends here. i have limited time on the computer. (see how early i am up) because my wife deb is an avid on line poker player and we only have one computer. LOL. i have been so busy this past month what with two weddings, my vacation and then the big catered bbq bridal shower party for my FUTURE DAUGHTER IN-LAW. that i really did not have time to get here to often.
o.k. almost time to get ready for work.
have a great day.
liz-sorry to haer about one of your leaves, you guys make such nice things...maybe winter will inspire my creativity
Betyy--wow, crazy how two extremes present themselves in the same day
Herbie--you must work early in the AM--my sympathies
Yesterday best--even though the BF beat me at bocce (it's getting harder for me to win..lol) it was still fun to have a relaxed eveing. We watched a new show with DD "Kid Nation"--where they brought a bunch of kids into the desert to start a community. It's ok so far...but I can see little kids crying in the near future. DD loved it, though.
Worst--work
What I learned--people never cease to amaze me
Hi all,
Betty, I had NO idea you had so many beaus! I hate to hurt you but I think these "gents" are two-timing you cause I'm involved with them too!!!! LOL!
Still "unemployed". Have to say that I'm feeling a little of my anxiety creeping in (I have GAD). It's not from NOT having a job but from the prospect of leaving my comfort zone. I think I'm going to have to make an appt with my doc for a pep talk! Maybe she'll up my meds!! ;-)
Anyway, I finished the top of my DD's quilt. I'll have to figure out how to hang it and get a picture. I just need to find fabric for the back now. I'm patting my own back here cause I mitered the corners (which it DID NOT call for, but I did it anyway!) and they turned out so good!! Next I want to work on an applique pattern I had made of our old Golden Retiever that died last December. This won't be as easy because I'm not good with deciding on what fabrics go where. I like directions!! Anyway, after that I have 3 other quilt kits to do. That along with my knitting, punch-needle and cross stiching should keep me very busy for the fall and winter!
I'm going to actually try and motivate myself to do some cleaning today. After we turned the ceiling fan off last night and I saw what had collected on the fan blands, I think I need to. The thought that all that stuff is flying thru the air and into our lungs is just gross!
Oh well, I will check back in later. Y'all have a wonderful day!!!
J
Morning all..it's a good morning for a few families this morning...2 teenager girls 15 & 16 were out in a dinghy here on Monday, late afternoon when they did not return home parents called Ontario Provincial Police and a search began..they've been doing search and rescue and finally late last night these girls were found..very sunburnt/cold/hungry,dehydrated etc. Georgian Bay has rough waters and even in larger boats the swells can be over 5' high at normal times..Lord must surely have been watching over them...so happy for their parents as they said they had all but given up hope...
Herbie, sounds like you've had a good vacation...now girls lets all vote that Debbie buys Herbie a computer with all her winnings..did you make it to Niagara Falls Frank? Now as you live in the state of N.Y. how far is it from your home town?
Jeannine...good luck with the cleaning..sooner it's done the quicker you can get back to those quilts and your many projects...I'd have to live to 200 to get all those projects done...I kick myself often..have a beautiful sewing/embroidery machine, knitting machines, 1 knits on it's own and I dont' get at it...it's really a shame..keep thinking I should be more organized and set time aside to do each...but other than not sleeping at night, don't know where I'd find the time...we'll see...I was given one of those knitting machines (simplified version) but works non the less and it's still in a box..should put it out at the roadside so someone can pick it up..brand new..!
Tropicanna, I'll have to look for "Kid Nation" sounds interesting..how old would these kids be? I also love bocce..you know, you can't win all of the games...and yes, some have so much and others so little...never a happy medium is there..as for Rene and Noreen???? what to heck I have time to spare, will tell you a little story:
I was raised by my grandparents and next door they had a daughter who had 2 children..Larry - 3 years younger than I and Linda who was 5 years younger than I..we were extrememly close and they were as much my brother and sister as was my own..
As time went by I married Roger and years later Linda married Rogers younger brother Rene..with having our home on the water there was hardly a weekend that they didn't come up to visit with their 2 children who were almost same age as ours...
Now my brother Bernie who is 18 months younger than I married Noreen...she came from a millionaires family who did not speek to her for years because she had married into a class lessor than theirs..I even made her wedding dress, they would not participate in the wedding in any form...
So now years have gone by, Linda and Rene were married about 15 years and Bernie and Noreen were married about the same...so one day Noreen announces she's having another child..OMG how wonderful or is it...didn't Bernie have himself fixed..how can she be pregnant...well, lo and behold, Roger's brother Rene leaves Linda and moves in with my brothers' wife...talk about a scandal..most in both families took it in stride..I on the other side did not...here now I'm torn between Linda who is like a sister to me and a brother who have both lost their spouses...know you have to be forgiving, but not sure that can happen...when Roger died another event pushed his family further apart...at the coffin I asked Rene if he would like to come to the house and take something of Rogers' to keep as a memory item..he told me to F**** off...two of Rogers' other brothers were nearby and they didn't speak for many years..think they do since their father died...quite the soap opera....now that's a bit of history for you all....so, if I'm not overly excited for this to have happened to this couple, you know why...I'll have to say a prayer for myself tonight for sure....
Liz, getting gifts are always so exciting..my goodness, you must get some winds to blow over a table with that much weight...wow...we'll good news, will only take you 5 min. to make a few more..lol...aren't I being flush with your time...
well sitting here looking bored...might just take out some knitting...
We have summer weather this week and are calling for same next week..wish I was outside playing in the garden..hope you are able to..enjoy the day
Betty, wow, what a story...I can see why there would be some static there, perfectly okay for you to own your feelings on that one.
Out of the blue I have to give myself a compliment...still doing the best I can to resist soft drinks (BF works for Pepsi, so it's kinda weird not to support your own family..lol) ...and definitely seeing the results. This morning...just to see...I put on what my friends used to call 'the jeans'--used to because I've not been able to squeeze into them in a couple of years, they're kind of tight fitting anyway. I actually got into them without breaking a sweat...lol
Hopefully you're keeping up with not drinking that liquid corn syrup, Betty :)
Tropicanna...have a pepsi from time to time but not like I did, many each and every day..still have problems with the water..brought in 3 bottles today and BIL gave me Crystal light to put in it and I'm starting to enjoy the taste..they tellme that counts for 'water' drinking...will have to get out my 'jeans' as well..that time of year..I KNOW I'll not fit into them..so maybe you've just given me a challenge...into those jeans you go girl..
