Yes, we did, and now we are trying to get a passiflora forum, but Dave says there is not enough interest shown yet.
If you haven't done so, please go to this thread and put your vote in - http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/751464/
missing everybody
too stupid for that.....good luck though...i cant even pronounce whatever that forum name is.....that's why i basically stick to underwater......
Yes, please stick to your photos, John!
no worries...count on that ...unwatching this one now.....
Wait...that might have been misinterpreted....I'm thinking John was making a poke at himself, and that K was saying she liked his photos.....am I correct here folks???
I already voted on the passiflora thingy.....John just call them passionfruit....do you enjoy eating them? the edible ones I mean.
You know the trouble with this way of speaking is that you can't see the body language or facial expressions ....like the smile on our face or the giggling....so I vote to put expressions into the talk *smiling* where required *giggling*
Once again congrats all.....*clapping*
Chrissy ** laughing**....not sure it would help, but it would take longer to post!
There go my clumsy fingers again! Doggone it, John, come back. I meant don't worry about passies just keep posting those beautiful pictures. Oh, now I feel bad.
K - don't feel bad, he'll see this , and your post in U/W gardens, and all will be well. We've all done it at one time or another,,,, me probably most of all. I tend to type as I speak, which gets me in a lot of trouble, cuz people can't hear my inflections...as Chrissy said. It's okay.
Hey Folks!
Got a note from Christy last night that y'all are looking for me. You all can call off the National Guard now. I'm here! HAHAHAHAHA
As I explained to her, I've been reading and lurking. There are so many threads on my watch list that by the time I've read them all and get ready to post, something comes up and I miss the chance to post.
Life's been getting in the way around here. HAHAHAHA
A major "clean sweep" is being done on my house. Garage Saling and taking stuff to Goodwill, etc.
I'm working on getting an ID on all of my coleus so that when I take them to Connie's house to overwinter in her greenhouse, I'll know what we have next spring. I'm going to start a coleus leaf parade soon in the coleus forum.
In addition to that, Connie and I have been working on sculptures. We have finished one of them, a praying mantis for Knolan. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/773179/
We still have 2 of them to make, a mermaid for our own Cath and a dragonfly for another DGer.
Deer Season doesn't open until November 1 but Archery season opens this coming weekend. We spent Saturday at the lease putting up the last tree stand and filling the feeders. And of course, just playing in the mud on the 4 wheelers. Hubby would like for me to video and take photos of the hunts.
Many hugs and thanks so much for thinking of me. Makes a gal feel good, donchaknow! I've missed you guys!
Janet
Hi Janet,
Fancy meeting you here! Didnt know they were referring to MY friend Janet :-)
I'm not a bug person but love the praying mantis.
Joyce
Hey Jada!
The folks here were kind enough to let me join in our all of their tropical fun. I have bananas and cannas, along with a Ti plant and a palm or two. Do you think we EVER talk about any of those plants here? Muahahahahaha Do you think I care? Bwahahahahaha
BTW, I sent you a package yesterday with some of the Hooker's Orchid Cactus in it. She said 2-3 days, so be on the lookout Wednesday or Thursday for my goodies. :-)
We really enjoyed making the praying mantis for Kristi. We started out making skeeters. (see photo attached) It just seems that critters are the most likely things to go into gardens. So now, we've graduated to mantises and dragonflies. :-)
Cath's Mermaid will be the next one we work on. We've got all kinds of ideas on that one. I've been googling mermaids like crazy. I do that with each of our sculptures for reference on musculature, etc. I collect photos, send them to Connie (because we work at her house) and then we decide body poses, etc.
This is the beginning of the end of Connie's busy season for tinting, so we have to work around her schedule. The window tinting is what puts food on her table. Connie has tools AND a big air conditioned shop to work in. Here is Southeast Texas, having that AC is a major plus!!! Especially when working with torches.
I hope everyone has a nice sunny day with just a sprinkle or two to make your plants smile. :-)
Janet
Love the skeeter, how very talented you are!
Thanks so much! That's the ONLY kind of skeeter that we like around here.
hey, passionflower people.....is 'incense' edible? I mean tasty edible, not like maypop:)
I believe "Edulis" are the edible passionfruit....but I am no expert!
Thanks Janet! I'll be on the lookout for it. Cant wait to see the Mermaid.
Yeah Tropicanna ! Those blooms are gorgeous!
Janet, yes dear you have been missed! You and Connie do such great work! I love all the colors swirling in the glass....so pretty!
I have a rainy, gloomy day here...but we need the rain. Several days in a row of intense sun. The poor guys working on the patios were just sweltering! Today they get some relief, but I don't think they will be pouring the cement...darn. Hope everyone is having pleasant days and gentle breezes.
Hi Shari
Great article today and hope you get your cement soon. You stay so calm in the midst of adversity. How do you do it? I'd be pulling my hair out :-)
I learned a long time ago that panic and stress never really accomplish much. I seem to thrive under pressure, so deadlines and time limits push me to work. If I have no problem to solve, and no deadline to meet, I am a slug...do nothing but play on this darned pooter. Ha Ha. Accidents happen. As long as no one got hurt, its just an inconvenience. And inconvenience is no big deal compared to trying to bring an entire garden into a warm spot for the winter, as Don is doing...or some of the other issues that our friends here have to deal with.
I am so very pleased that you liked my article. I'm always afraid that I will bore people with my passions, so the feedback is very much appreciated Joyce!
Shari
I think it is passion that makes the articles interesting. Anybody can do a "book report" about a plant but tis the personal involvement and sharing of the wonder, that makes for great articles like yours.
Bored??? I'd just as soon get bored with life and learning. There just too much to see and learn for that!
I sometimes feel the same way about my articles but I think ALL the articles reach the people they are meant for in some way. Plus there are lots of people who read but never post comments, so dont judge by the numbers :-) Keep em' comin'.
I'm sooo lucky to have the both of you just now put everything in perspective. I don't contribute any knowledge but I love being a cheerleader. I do appreciate you.
Lou
I think you contribute more than you know! So glad you are here .
I read your article Shari just before I had to go in and finish up making supper.
What a wonderful craft! The photos you included were wonderful. Man that's a lot of work that goes into making the "fabric". You do a wonderful job of keeping the reader interested and increasing our knowledge on things that we might never otherwise learn. All of the writers do that. I've read about 95% of the articles since they began appearing. I only comment now and then. Sometimes, someone else has already said what I intended to say, so just because I don't comment, that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the article.
This place (Dave's) is a wealth of knowledge. There are so many forums that I haven't ever ventured into. I can only imagine how big my butt would be if I checked them ALL out! HAHAHA
Thanks for all of your all's hard work!
Janet
Same here Janet!
Group hug!((((((((()))))))))))
Yep Chrissy - I keep calling the silly sausage a silly goose....but the same feeling is meant. Christi, I can't put on paper (or screen) all that you have contributed to me...so no more of that!
Funny you started this thread as "Missing everybody"....I think we have all been found!
Joyce - I Love your articles! The story of your family in Money Tree, and the memories that Steptember brought back....you must be right....the articles reach those who need them....and your's have been a delight to me.
Okay. I'm getting all mushy and fuzzy.........
Ooops too ripe! Waited to long to pick....push into the dirt so seeds can grow.....!☺
LOL.
Shari, it's always nice to run across you here..lol Hope you're enjoying paradise :)
Hi Tropicanna - Your garden is coming along so beautifully! Well, if you saw my "Water Damage" thread, you'll see that we are never without our excitement....but of course I love it here, so willing to put up with any little inconvenience. There is supposedly a big Kwaj reunion next summer in Colorado Springs...think your Dad or Sister will go?
I'll have to check the water damage thread..
My dear ol' dad got himself into some trouble on Kwaj...nothing to get him into legal trouble, but enough to be exiled..lol...I promise I was telling him to take it down a notch...can'tpicture him going to a reunion
You know how guys get all wild out there
My sister is in Arkansas, but I haven't spoken to her in awhile...so are you going to Colorado Springs?
