I got Blooms this year that are very similar.
Curious when you collect your seeds if they are DARK.
China Doll Seeds are TAN.

Ron ???
Is this normal ?
There is not doubt that I planted the China Doll and my seeds are Dark.

Thanks Emma,

It was purchased as a plant at one of the morning glory festivals. She`s still blooming and I`m collecting the seeds.

Another one on the same vine labeled Plum Tie-dye. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Becky,
Your Blooms look just as you have them labeled.
The Solid Chocolate is STILL TRUE.
This is the first year I haven't grown this one in 5-years.
Don't you love it!

Karen, love that blue and white. Very special.
Dee, amazing bloom.
Katlian, very nice Shibori's.
Ronnie, Your blooms are very impressive this yr.
Becky, more lovely blooms.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Emma and Jackie!!

Emma, I know the seeds you sent me for china Doll were black, I will LYK if I get any tan ones...

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

Hey I`m back. Thanks for the compliments! I`m ever in awe at the diversity of the morning glory blooms shown here. I love them all.

Ron, The purple nose leaf has the solid green nose shaped leaf. I did get some interesting shaped foliage in some variegated leaves but they varied on the same vine. I have a few interesting ones worth growing the seeds seperate for further evaluation.

The youjiro x ukigumo blue blizzard small flower long vine is wild the way it gets covered in blooms much like the youjiro parent I used. Now the color is another story! That fancy hybrid will take some more growing, selecting and more growing to keep the look going and finally I hope to stabilize it. It is workable.

Dee, your flowers look like works of art each and every one I have seen!

What does sugoi mean? It would be neat to pick up on some simple Japanese phrases.

Thanks!

Karen

Hi Ronnie, those speckled blue flowers (blizzard?) are fabulous. The ones you labeled Joyce Cobb look like some of the offspring of my shibouri vines from last year (I thought I had planted the wrong seeds). My Joyce Cobbs came in three colors this year http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3903811. I'm not an expert, but I think the Joyce Cobb has the dark spots closer to the edge of the petals.

Karen, if we had prizes for coolest new MGs, that hybrid of yours would be my nomination.

Emma, I will send you a few if they ripen before the frost gets them. There are a couple of pods that are getting close. (Sigh) I need a greenhouse.

It is worth tagging and growing out again to see what you get.
Very Nice!

Has anyone seen this bloom before? It came out of OnaLee's Jap Imperialis
Mixed. I know Imperialis is not a valid name. I liked it, reminded me
of a Star of India bloom, just a different color.

Thanks Emma and Karen.

Sugoi - is amazing or extraordinary in Japanese.
Arigato - is thank you.
Nani sore - is what is that?

This is an example of my true art form and how most of the pictures I`ve taken looks. It`s one of the reason that I grew them in separate pots in order to capture the flowers only and it also allowed me to ID most of the normal JMG that`s out there. One thing I found out is there are many with different names but they are in fact the same.

Very beautiful photograph, Dee!

(Judith) Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Dee, I'd love to see the flower in context. Could you take a photo of its setting? The bloom is beautiful!

Houston, TX

Thanks guys.

Revclaus I took that picture about two months ago and the plant has run it course. 90% of the pictures I took this year was done in that fashion when possible. It was a single plant growing in a pot. My reason for growing MJ and taking pictures is done for a different reason than that of the average person.

I only want to capture the flower and nothing else.

Dee,

I agree this is the very best way to capture details of leaves, stems and every detail without the confusion of the background. It also looks like art work and is pleasing to behold. Thanks for sharing!

Karen

These are single kikyo flowers and about 1.5 - 2 inch flowers...
