What's Blooming? #14

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Beautiful cosmos, pirl!
Great dragonfly, ngam!
Everyone has posted exceptional photos today, (well, yesterday evening). I think they are all worthy of becoming contest entries somewhere. We definitely have some talent in our group!

Just look at that Mother's Rose blooming in front of Powis Castle artemisia by grampapa!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

great shots gram.... love that cosmos pirl

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Lovely photos!!
Jan, The lily is at B&D Lilies here: http://bdlilies.com/l8018.html it says it doesn't start blooming until
August/Sept. This one started about 10 days ago and still going strong.

Northwest Cosmos is a dahlia but resembles a cosmos.

I'll have to get some of those lilies, Celeste. They'd go so nicely with the dahlias. Thanks for the link.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Thanks all for the comps on the DF pics.
Roses and Dahlias, what's not to like, just lovely. The pic effects are really charming too.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I think we need more adjectives to compliment the many glorious photos.

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

pirl, your dahlia certainly does look like a cosmos...very pretty indeed and a great pic!

pixie, thanks for the lily link. those would look great in the rose garden. I didn't know any bloomed this late.

here's my last daylily (besides Stella d'Oro) ... Strawberry Candy

Beautifulgorgeoussplendidincredible!! How's that Pirl?

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

that's a good one Victor, but much too long to type. I think we need to make up new ones. splush? lyrmic? harlish?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Star system? Thumbs up?

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

alternatively, we could dredge up and dust off stuff from former decades...i.e. 'those pics are the bees knees', 'that dahlia is like, cool, man'

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Jan what a cute sign! And of course they feel an incredible pain in their ears after reading it. ( This would be from the slap upside the head)

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Cute sign Jan

Almost Alma time here, still working on a containment system that can hold here in place.

"that rose is styling!" "Goovey flower power"

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cross that with a tomato Al and you'll have Alma mater.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

NW Cosmos looks good Pirl, fairly prolific for me.

Harrington's Pink aster is in full swing - it's at eye level so it's easy to watch the bees on it.

Nice - for a Dahlia.

Alma Potschke I've divided a couple times and it's still bigger than most of my shrubs. She is the queen of my fall flowers.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Such splendiferous photos from everyone. {alma mater ! that's funny, victor !!}

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Great glowing dahlia, Al.

I loved the alma mater, too.

Hope these little guys find my flowers OK now that the field is mowed. I love how the outline of it's wings match the clover.

Pixie - that last shot is amazing and clearly what Pamela Harper, author of Color Echoes, would applaud you for - so do I.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice shots, Celeste. I agree with Pirl on the last one - cool combo.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Nice blues on the violas. That sulfur pic is nice with how the colors match.

Did my last deadheading on the cosmos - these seemed extra large on this plant.
