No. Did she look awful? She looked awful in her latest movie when I saw the preview.

She looked incredible. Litttle straw hat, hair back, and very (appeared as though) little make up. Flawless skin, eyes clear & bright, never saw her look better,.

Darn! Sorry I missed it. Maybe they made her look yucky for that movie. She ranks up there with the most beautiful women through the years.

I had heard she was supposed to look bland for that movie.

It worked. Worse than bland.

Victor - obviously she's a good actress if her looks impressed you so much that she really portrays a bland person. That has to be a job for a beautiful woman.

I thought Charlize Theron did a great job of that in Monster.

I tried doing the six letter words. I was waaaaay too slow for it. They always called me slow when I was growing up. Guess they were right.

It's too easy to cheat with the internet. I'm sure many do.

It's still good brain activity. If you find a word you don't know and then refer to the dictionary there's a chance you might remember it. Old people need to keep the brain as active as possible.

I just KNEW I was a genius! Not really. Mom would brag about my brother's IQ. (240) When I'd ask her what mine was, she'd tell me that it wasn't really important. Mean, huh? I never found out.

Yes - that is mean. His cannot have been that high. The highest ever supposedly is about 227 or so.

Yeah, Arlene, but I'll bet you had more fun and more friends......am I right? I had the same deal with my older sister - she made only A's, mapped the moon for the first NASA landing,yadda, yadda, yadda....... but I had so much more fun than she did......still do! LOL

Aside from my brother, My sister, Summer, made only A's. She was class president, editor of the yearbook, captain of the basketball and field hockey teams... and so on. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class in HS and won a full, 4 year scholarship to Princeton. Just a full year to Stanford (where she really wanted to go). I wasn't popular or smart. It wasn't 'till I was an adult before I realized that I had something to offer...

We actually dug out for a new garden yesterday. This one will face more easterly, and will start off with daffs and tulips.

Harper - we love you just the way you are. You're lovely, talented and a devoted gardener as well as a good mom for Sam and Shadow.

Maybe your brother was 140 not 240??? Back in the day, it wasn't supposed to be a good idea to know your own IQ, but my teachers told me mine in high school when I wasn't living up to their expectations. Nowadays, with 'different intelligences' and all that stuff, IQ is just one way to measure W.A.S.P. performance on a WASP test. For instance, I'm allegedly very bright, but one of the reasons I'm always on THIS site is 'cause I can figure out how it works... and that's worth a few bucks a year. I've tried Google and Yahoo groups and even AdAware discussions (free software to take out those pop-up cookies), but the dialog is HARD for me to follow. DG conversations are in straight lines down, so up is old and down is new, easy and intuitive for me and my woman's intuition to follow. (Btw, that's why I always sign my posts, for some reason that helps me understand the chronology of things.)

Besides, as we age, our IQ drops, but at what rate? Imagine other people's (like mine, lol) plummeting past you, while yours is clearly holding its own! I know I can't spell words that I used to be able to spell, and concepts, well, CONCEPTS are almost out of the question. But WHEN I WAS YOUR AGE.... (those four words see me through my darkest hours)

My family (brothers, sister, aunts and I) is having this raging debate over what to do with my poor father. It just dawned on me this morning to graph his expenses over time. A bump when the stroke first happened, another enormous bump in February when he moved from 'rehab facility' to home (in Santa Fe, NM), and another bump in August when his #1 home care lady quit. But I have

---been cut off in the prime of my speech! I have NO idea how to go about creating such a graph. And isn't that why they invented computers? Not so middle-aged people could yammer about their gardens (and their movie stars, and how many times they've been to Broadway or Disney)!

Anyway, I'm sorry to be Harper-ing on an unpleasant subject, but it's also one that I whine about from to time to time to time.
