Which Clem is growing through Gettysburg? 'The President' would be appropriate.
What's Blooming? #13
Wow - love the JM shot with the grass. Which are they?
I agree with Victor, that JM and grass is stunning boojum and I love The Last Melon!
Beautiful photos, boojum! Love the JM with the grass - great color contrast.
boojum - love all of your pics but that Last Melon is my favorite. The color is beautiful. Eleanor
This is getting a bit slow to load. Celeste!!!!!!!!
Yes, it is.
Oh Good, thought it was just me *lol*
An inch of rain, oh how long it's been since I saw that much rain, still nothing here, maybe tomorrow. Love the DA Heritage and that JM and grass combo is wonderful.
Pix the bright blue with the melon is just great color.
Thanks every one, I love the BB and pumpkins together. The gourds have white flowers which look s nice too.
I started another thread and hope you'll all join me there.

Beautiful.
Celeste - what is the blue flower with the pumpkin? I like it very much.
Thanks everyone. The grass is Hakonechloa macra and it's "The Last Melon" from Olallie. See ya at the new thread.
I figured it was Hakone grass. What about the JM?
It's bloodgood. It's top leaves got weird in the cold spring but it's fine now.
Booj - what a treat to see all those beautiful blooms on such a dreary day today! I really love them all, but your Last Melon and the rose with the raindrops are just perfect!! Is Last Melon similar to a Stella d'Ora in its height and habits? It looks low and full.....really would love to get that one!
See you at the other thread!!
Thanks Anita, those are just bachelor buttons I sprinkled around the pumpkin patch. I think i'll plant more next summer, they bloom along time and I love having that blue in my garden.
It's a great shade. Was it a specific one or from a mix?
My famous WM blue flower seed mix.
Celeste - do BBs come back up in the spring where you are? When we lived in Connecticut, they came up every year from self-sowing.
Not sure....I hope so! It will save me some pennies!!
They reseed fairly well in bare soil. I have them in one bed competing with Black Eyed Susans for reseeding rights.
Celeste - I hope you realize you've been a great promotion for WM's package of blue seeds. All your blues are wonderful.
Thank you pirl, I am not afilliated with WM in anyway! LOL
Honorary Seedperson of the Year!
I've been IDing a LOT of my poor wintersown NOIDs! I had Chinese annual asters (pic from bigal) and I can't remember what else. But I ID'd a few others, maybe even a lot! Oh, Cleomes (I forget whose) and some other stuff. Fun for me, anyway. Thanks.
xxx, C
Well ~ the only thing blooming today is the ducks!!!!
Rain, rain, and, oh yeah ~ rain. (Secretly loving every darned drop!!)

DonnieBrook, The Last Melon is taller (32"?) and much larger flowers (5-5.5") than Stella. Where is Quiet Corner? I'm near Wilmington VT.
Booj - thanks for the info on The Last Melon. I'm going for that one next spring! I'm in SW NH. You must be close!
Booj:
Perhaps the three of us could get together before DonnieBrook leaves for the season.
Oh I would love to! (Except I'm moving this month from the house to the barn apartment so I'm not sure how crazy I'll be.) When do you take off, snowbird??
last week in October.....I'm in a slight panic about what has to still be dealt with here to make that happen....but a coffee break at your nearby Friendly's off 91 may just work for us all!! Oh, and about the snowbird thing.......will you all shoot me in January when I report the veggies that are coming in down there????? Just remember......I'll be arm wrestling that bodacious black racer snake that is trying to take over my patio. My neighbor down there found him kicking back and enjoying life in our little hurricane shutter shed. Eek!
I just tried to lift that strange pumpkin and I backed off in deference to my sciatic silliness. It's a growin' !! And on the honeydew front.........being the brainchild that I am, I finally figured out when to pick 'em.........now that they've detached from the vines might be a clue.....duh!!! :)
Weatherwise - it is so fresh and breezy here today......feels like fall is coming!!! My green beans are still providing ("provider" beans...yuk yuk....Victor is rubbing off on many of us, it seems) and the Fireworks tomatoes are finally turning! A new gang of Canadian hummers have replaced the regulars that have gone south......these have better manners than the self-centered crew that just departed......
Where's the nectar, eh?
As George Costanza would say: "Oh, there's nectar, Baby!!" LOL
Donnie, You saying the Canadians are less narcissistic and have better manners?
I didn't know there was a difference.
Oh, there's a difference, Baby!!! LOL
Dave - I'm not sure I could generalize, but this new migratory flock (supposedly coming down from Canada on their way south, according to what I read on one of the hummingbird threads) is much less aggressive. Most are females.........hmmmm.........No, it couldn't be a factor!
