Thanks, Kassia. They've done very well.
What's Blooming? #13
Arlene and Carrie, thank you so much for your wonderful words of support. You're the greatest!
Harper - my message to Arlene was meant for you.........not sure why I put Arlene's name except that I saw it just above......anyway - late bloomers are always special. I'll bet you'd rather be you when all is said and done, right? Count me as one of your admirers too! You can tell a lot about a person on these threads.......You are one sharp, articulate, kind cookie! I learned a lot about IQ tests in a prior career, and it is amazing what they DON"T measure that makes them terribly flawed in many cases. That's what led to so many colleges discounting them. You're Just Fine!! LOL
I agree 100% - on IQ tests, and especially, about Harper.
I know enough people who belong to MENSA that are unhappy with their lives. IQ is just one marker and it doesn't indicate maturity or a host of other equally important qualities people have........or don't have.
Pirl - what are you doing on this thread? Both look great, nice pics too. Aloha is starting to open now.
High IQ doesn't equal success or happiness. They usually feel out of place in the world.
Nice, Pirl! Aloha for tonight!
booj - that one's a beauty!!
OH MY GOODNESS>>>>> it TOOK MY BREATH AWAY!!!!!! thanks so much.... does it smell good too???? which one is this one????
Harper, when I first looked at you first thing I noticed was that you are "alive"! your eyes are of a very interligent and vibrant person!!!!! you know how some people notice certain things on other people??? I have no idea why, but I love eyes and hands... so amazing how eyes say soo much about people!!!!
I agree that harper is great! I think IQ tests measure 1 type of intelligence (analytical thinking) pretty well. Ignores all other types. It has great reliability with little validity.
Beautiful rose, boojum.
Dave - well said. Aloha for this morning!
Kassia - wow, what a beauty that dahlia is. What is the name of it?
Aloha looks great Pirl, as does the rose.
Kass won't know - that's Jean Marie.
Thanks, Al.
No name on the mini rose.
Wow! Well, let me pick myself up off the floor. When I need some flattery, I know where to go! Thank you so, so much for your sweet words, Louise (I knew you were talking about me), Victor, Arlene, Kassia, Dave... y'all are truly great people. I know. Big hugs and a few sweet tears. :)
Harper
Harper - it's not flattery from any of us.......earned respect and appreciation for the finer things and people, instead! Hey - if Carrie is correct that our IQs are sinking with age, I'm getting close to being a lump with no credibility anyway! LOL
The only way you get smarter with age is when your kids have kids. Other than that I know things have gone down hill, can't spell worth a darn and trying to remember names...forget abboudit. A lot of really smart people have little success with people skills and just plain old horse sense or common sense. They can figure out elaborate equations and theories but have a lot of trouble to determine if some one is telling them the truth or not or remembering where they parked their car. Oh I do that too, does that mean I'm smart? Okay maybe not. :) I am new and don't really know you all very well yet but I don't think there is a bad one in the bunch.
I had an engineering professor who could derive a theory across five blackboards but was absolutely deadly to be around in the lab. He would have killed himself once were it not for a C student saving his butt.
Way to go Victor ;)
Cute, Al. Never received any C's, thankfully.
Oh , sorry to hear. F's are simalar to A's - just missing a line.
True! I never hung with 'A' students - too geeky and boring.
Now THAT was funny, Al and Victor!
And fear not, Ngam.....your smarts are showing too.......and I am with you......this thread has yet to have a dim bulb that I can see! And what's even better - such a forgiving bunch whenever any of us show our declining IQ. Isn't that the truth about spelling? A couple of careers ago I was an Enlgish teacher........and I really hit 'em hard with spelling - how embarrassing (sp???) for me if they now are DG'rs.....and pick up my identity. Gulp......wish DG had spell check!!!
Louise, use Firefox as your browser - it has built-in spell check.
I was an Enlgish teacher.
is that so.........in what country ;)
In Enlgand, of course.
In the Deep South, Al.......is that it's own country?? And since you mispelled English, I'll have you write that word 600 times and use it in a different sentence each time.
Enlgand Dan and John Ford Coley?
who needs a games forum ;)
Al - I'm disappointed that you didn't catch my grammatical error.....the use of "it's" instead of "its".....come on, guy!! Grammar's slipping too....my DH long ago hid my red pen!
I didn't post my funny, but stereotypical deep south reply - sorry
Don't request it Louise! I have done writing / editing and those things jump out at me. I never like to correct anyone - except Al and Dave, of course.
Dave needs it the most really.
yeah, Victor, but I did it for fun this time.........I agree about correcting people.....not only is it rude, it is also misplaced in a forum like DG where everything is conversational, not formal. As long as you can understand what someone means......nothing else matters. It's like writing a letter or an email........I never bother to check those either. But I have an excuse now, thanks to Carrie and her IQ decline info. Works for me!
And Al, I've spent half my life in the Deep South and half in New England.........people are the same everywhere.......If you just look at the heart, it doesn't matter about the package it's in!
So on average you've been around Md. or Va.??
Close.........on average. ;)
I wouldn't call Md. or Va. 'deep south' or 'New England'... or are we just talking above and below the ol' Mason Dixon? That is where it runs, right?
I did think it was funny when Al caught your 'Enlgish' typo. I didn't notice it. My eyeballs fixed it for me.
There you go, Al, picking on Dave when he's not around.
Is Dave not feeling well..........again?
