What's Blooming? #13

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

My gardens are winding down but there are a few plants that just won't give up. I still have a few DL blooming, blanket flower, annuals, TB Iris, oriental lilies, coneflowers, buddelia, veronica, glads, morning glories, sweet peas and dahlia's are just starting.
What's still blooming in your garden?

Nice pics, still lots of color in the garden.

Just opened today anew here, didn't really expect to see a bloom this year.

Nice ng. I am very happy with Blackjack. It was worth the gamble.

This is not a blossom but if you use the pres' nickname for Rove it fits...very rude critter used my path last night in more ways than one. Look closely, there is a trail. :)

ngam - great news on the Foxglove re-blooming. Ours has sprouted several new plants at the base. Has yours done that?

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Nice to see you, Carrie!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Pix - I like the Kansas Kitten and your giant hand.

ngam - Black Jack looks nice, mine is small.

Victor - I have an unedited pic for you since you like them so much ;)~

Does this photo work? I didn't stage this - although I'm sure I could for better effect.

Only when viewed in NON-thumbnail mode. Otherwise, why not?

Celeste - That is one BIG daylily!!! And I love the blue of your phlox and that Kansas Kitten. I think that is going on my "presents to myself" list. There is a daylily place in the area that is closing and selling off their stock. I can't recall exactly where it is or the name, but if I can find it, I may give it a try to see if they still have stock, and if they might have that one. Candyce - do you recall seeing an ad for it in the Keene, NH area?

Ngam - I too like your BlackJack, and Victor's pun....he is always so clever that way!

Al - that unedited shot is cool, and I like your leaf shot as well.....

Another gorgeous day here today........must have been Pirl's good wishes that brought it!! Thanks again, Pirl! Enjoy your Sunday, everyone.....how great to have a long weekend with this great weather!!! In retirement the holidays off from the workplace aren't as big for us as they used to be, but I still get excited about them for all of my working pals. I guess I'm still feeling guilty about having such a full life with time just for me, when others aren't there yet.

Sorry, no new flower blooms today.......

Louise:

Sorry. I don't recall any daylily places around here that might be closing and selling off their stock. If you hear of it again, please let me know, OK?

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

I'll do that, Candyce........maybe we could meet there. There's a chance my DH may remember....he's the one who pointed it out to me in the paper. I tried to resist the temptation, but it obviously stayed in my mind........:)

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I know just what you mean about something like that staying in your mind!!

Candyce I just got this kind this spring, it is a perennial or more perennial type. I also have the others and they do seed all over and pop up here and there. Not too many bloomed this year cause a lot of the seedlings got wacked by the nutty weather just like my hollyhocks I think. There are a lot of seedlings growing now though so maybe next year some will bloom. I just love finding new babies in new places.

Here's a photo of ours in full bloom, shortly after we put it into the garden this year ...
The photo was taken June 10th.

And on August 26th, it had new growth near the base of the plant.
All that dark stuff you see are the seed pods.

Trying to catch up on threads is real tough when you haven't been on in a few days!!!

Al - stop giving my Vancouver secrets away! I also like your idea of seeding zinnia in July for more blooms in the fall. I'll have to remember that for next year. Remind me, won't you?

Those Holly hocks were amazing. I've planted one this year that I got from a clearance sale. I also bought some seed that I think I'll direct sow when I get back to NY. [I'm in Myrtle Beach visiting my sister]

As usual - Celeste - your flowers are beautiful!!!!
We should write down Victor's whiticisms and publish them. We could make a bunch of money!! We'd be famous!!!

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Hey - I thought eggs came from chickens???

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

not in Denville I guess

Thanks Anita! Having fun in M.B.? If your on the beach around 7-8 am and you see this older couple (75 but they don't look it) walking on the beach tell them Celeste said HI! LOL My Aunt & Uncle walk the beach everyday, they do a mile or more in the morning and sometimes more later at sunset. The used to live in Manchester, Conn. but moved to the M.B. area 12-15 yrs. ago.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

onewish - I bought what I thought was a lavender clematis but the label had bleached out on the cardboard container, in the sun. It ended up The President, a lovely purple clematis but not the color I wanted.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yes the president is nice.... but not lavender

I am just glad the spot I picked has all pinks purples blue & white
