What's Blooming? # 12

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Al, love the peach colored zinnia!
Carrie, that's really pretty, love the color!
This is the 3rd round for this rose, it has changed in color from the first time but still nice.

Oh my Goodness, everyone!! Such beauty and such fun quips, I'm just dying to jump in after being away a few days. Our year and a half old grandson (with parents) is visiting for 6 days, and the 2 other grandsons (5 and 3) who live an hour away are due here any minute to wreck my house and gardens, so I've been in absentia and missing the time to soak each post up fully. Had to speed read and just kept ooohing and ahhhhing at each pic......wonderful bunch of pics from all!!

Allison - does your pinkeye make all the flowers look pink????? [sorry - couldn't resist a silly].....I really hope you feel better soon!

My closed bottle gentian just opened, so here's a shot of it using my macro (practice, practice, practice!)

Happy Labor Day Weekend, everyone!! Garden menu here for the gathering today - my green beans, sweet fresh corn and grilled chicken breasts with my herbs & olive oil and garlic tucked up under the skin......then a cake for the 3 - yr. old's birthday........Ta Ta for now!!

Here is the annual vine I have this year. Red runner bean or is it scarlet? It is edible. The size has stayed small.

Hi all,
Donniebrook where do you have time to post with all the activity? I'm amazed!
It is sooooo beautiful here today!

Here are the horses across the street. I've been feeding them apple drops from the yard-first time we've had apples since we've been living here.

Al, I like the vine and Summer Night is really dark!! I can't believe your astor is blooming already. I only have small buds just starting and rose of sharon is just getting to bloom more than one flower a day.

Louise, your already getting the hang of it! Fun isn't it?

We got a little rain last night and it left a puddle. This is how dry it's been.....these guys were so happy to bathe in it. They kept coming in waves, 5-6 would land, wash, then fly away just as 5-6 more would land and repeat the process. This went on for over a half to 3 quarters of an hour.

I can hear those horses at night when I'm in bed. They really like living there.

This walking iris (cypella coelestis) opened yesterday for one day. It came this winter from CA and struggled so the flower is a triumph!

Edited to add the name.

Boojum, I have always admired those walking iris's I applaud you for trying to grow them, I was to chicken!! I hope it makes it for you, they are so elegant.
Love your Eenie Allegro, another one I have always like but never bought. Now im asking myself why as I love small DL's.

You should get EA, it is pure joy every time it blooms. This is a special WI-all blue. I have the regular one (white falls, blue standards) and it had lots of blooms in April (indoors). This one is very easy to grow. I got some seeds for another all blue one from Brazil in case this one croaked, so now I have 2 growing (big and small) and might consolidate them to get more blooms.
Carrie, wait till next year (they're biennials)! here's a pic of where the verbenas are growing in front (peach color bleached out in the pic).

Nice shots Al and booj.

Al and Celeste - thanks as always for the encouragement with the pics. Victor - thanks to you too for the clue on the macro....yes, Celeste, it IS fun to walk around looking for potential blooms and then getting in there - up close and personal - and SNAP! ...then running inside to check out the pic on the computer where it's big enough to see. No downside....just fun.

Booj and Al - every one of those shots are great! I never tire of seeing those beautiful flowers in such good pics! Booj - what is the blue flower behind Pat Austin? That's a lovely pic! And I also like that hand sculpture! Celeste, we should work on getting a hand sculpture of your famous hand! LOL

And Booj - yes.......it was a feat indeed to slip inside and hop onto my computer to get a flower pic fix before the chaos settled in! But a good time was had by all.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm sure you'll sleep well tonight Louise!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Yeah, I was thinking it might be that, but boojum, how come some people have hollyhocks every year? (Mentioning no names...)

x, C

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

I'm almost there, Victor.........should close down and just give it up....but I still have a few threads to check......sound like an addict, don't I?? I just hate missing anything! LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

There are some great posts in one that you just gotta see now. I'll leave it to you to find it. Hee hee. Happy ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ's!

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

If I have visitors, they tease me when I go to check my DG messages but not my e-mail. Duh, same thing (only DG is better)? Well some people just need to put a damper on fun!

HHs can be coordinated to have every other plant in bloom. First year they were all bushes, second they were all in bloom. This year I had most in bloom but some were tall and some were short. Next year should be a good one.

Jeez Carrie - I have hollyhocks everywhere, they put out a million seeds - I'm not bragging, I'm complaining.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Oh forgot to say that's the ROS that I can't remember the name now behind Pat Austin.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Victor - HOW COULD YOU!!! Don't you know that I am way too curious to not lie in bed awake wondering which thread I'm missing??!!! Oh, no.......you're so mean!! LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Celeste, we're up to 360! Time for lucky 13??
